2 Királyok 14

1 Második évében Jóásnak, Jehóácház fiának, Izraél királyának, király lett Amacjáhú, Jóás fia, Jehúda királya.

In the second year of Joash son of Joahaz king of Israel began Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah to reign.

2 Huszonöt éves volt, midőn király lett és huszonkilenc évig uralkodott Jeruzsálemben; anyjának neve pedig Jehóaddán Jeruzsálemből.

He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jehoaddin of Jerusalem.

3 És tette azt, a mi helyes az Örökkévaló szemeiben, csak nem úgy, mint őse Dávid; egészen aszerint, a mint cselekedett atyja Jóás, úgy cselekedett ő.

And he did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, yet not like David his father: he did according to all that Joash his father had done.

4 Csak a magaslatok nem szűntek meg; még áldozott és füstölögtetett a nép a magaslatokon.

Howbeit the high places were not taken away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.

5 És volt, a mint megerősödött kezében a királyság, megölette szolgáit, kik megölték volt atyját, a királyt.

And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was established in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father:

6 De a gyilkosok gyermekeit nem ölette meg, amint írva van Mózes tanának könyvében, hogy megparancsolta az Örökkévaló, mondván: ne ölessenek meg az atyák a gyermekeik miatt és a gyermekek ne ölessenek meg az atyák miatt, hanem mindenki a maga vétkéért ölessék meg.

but the children of the murderers he put not to death: according to that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, as the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.

7 Ő verte meg Edómot a Sósvölgyben: tízezer embert, és bevette Szélát a háborúban; és elnevezte Jokteélnek mind e mai napig.

He slew of Edom in the Valley of Salt ten thousand, and took Sela by war, and called the name of it Joktheel, unto this day.

8 Akkoriban küldött Amacjáhú követeket Jehóáshoz, Jehóácháznak, Jéhú fiának fiához, Izraél királyához, mondván: Jer, nézzünk egymás szemébe!

Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.

9 Erre küldött Jehóás, Izraél királya Amacjáhúhoz, Jehúda királyához, mondván: A Libánonon levő tövis küldött a Libánonon levő cédrushoz, mondván: add a leányodat fiamnak feleségül. De arra ment a mező vadja, mely a Libánonban volt, és összetaposta a tövist.

And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.

10 Igenis megverted Edómot és ezért elkapott téged a szíved; érd be a dicsőséggel és maradj házadban! Miért ingerled föl a veszedelmet, hogy elessél és Jehúda te veled?

Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thine heart hath lifted thee up: glory thereof, and abide at home; for why shouldest thou meddle to [thy] hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?

11 De nem hallgatott rá Amacjáhú. Erre felvonult Jehoás, Izraél királya, és szembe néztek egymással, ő meg Amacjáhú, Jehúda királya a Jehúdabeli Bét-Sémesben.

But Amaziah would not hear. So Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth-shemesh, which belongeth to Judah.

12 És vereséget szenvedett Jehúda Izraél előtt, és megfutamodtak kiki sátraihoz.

And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to his tent.

13 Amacjáhút pedig; Jehúda királyát, Jehóásnak, Achazjáhú fiának a fiát elfogta Jehóás, Izraél királya Bét-Sémesben; bevonult Jeruzsálembe és rést ütött Jeruzsálem falában Efraim kapujától a sarok-kapuig, négyszáz könyöknyit.

And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubists.

14 És elvette mind az aranyat és ezüstöt, meg mind az edényeket, melyek találtattak az Örökkévaló házában és a király házának kincstáraiban, valamint a túszokat, és visszatért Sómrónba.

And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king’s house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.

15 Jehóásnak egyéb dolgai pedig, amit cselekedett és hőstettei s ahogy harcolt Amacjáhú, Jehúda királya ellen, nemde meg vannak írva Izraél királyai történetének könyvében.

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

16 És feküdt Jehóás ősei mellé és eltemették Sómrónban Izraél királyai mellé. És király lett helyette fia, Járobeám.

And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.

17 És élt Amacjáhú, Jóás fia, Jehúda királya Jehóásnak, Jehóácház fiának, Izraél királyának halála után tizenöt évig.

And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.

18 Amacjáhú egyéb dolgai pedig, nemde meg vannak írva Jehúda királyai történetének könyvében.

Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

19 Összeesküvést szőttek ellene Jeruzsálemben, és elmenenekült Lákhísba; de küldtek utána Lákhísba és megölték ott.

And they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish: but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.

20 Elvitték őt lovakon és eltemették Jeruzsálemben ősei mellé Dávid városában.

And they brought him upon horses: and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.

21 Erre vette Jehúda egész népe Azarját, ő pedig tizenhat éves volt, és királlyá tették őt, atyja Amacjáhú helyett.

And all the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.

22 Ő építette Élátot és visszaszerezte Jehúdának, azután hogy a király ősei mellé feküdt.

He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.

23 Tizenötödik évében Amacjáhúnak, Jóás fiának, Jehúda királyának, király lett Járobeám, Jóás fia, Izraél királya Sómrónban, negyvenegy évig.

In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, [and reigned] forty and one years.

24 És tette azt, a mi rossz az Örökkévaló szemeiben, nem tért el mind a vétkeitől Járobeámnak, Nebát fiának, a ki vétkezésre indította Izraélt.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherewith he made Israel to sin.

25 Ő szerezte vissza Izraél határát Chamát felől, a sivatag tengeréig, az Örökkévalónak, Izraél Istenének szava eszerint, melyet szólt szolgája, a Gát-Chéferből való Jóna, Amittáj fia, próféta által.

He restored the border of Israel from the entering in of Hamath unto the sea of the Arabah, according to the word of the LORD, the God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of his servant Jonah the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gath-hepher.

26 Mert látta az Örökkévaló Izraélnek fölötte erős nyomorúságát: oda van az elzárt és oda van a magára hagyott, sem segítője nincsen Izraélnek.

For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was none shut up nor left at large, neither was there any helper for Israel.

27 De nem mondta az Örökkévaló, hogy eltörli Izraél nevét az ég alól. Megsegítette tehát őket Jároheám, Jóás fia által.

And the LORD said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

28 Járobeám egyéb dolgai pedig és mind az, a mit cselekedett és hőstettei, ahogy harcolt és a hogy visszaszerezte Damaszkuszt és Chamátot, a Jehúdáét, Izraél számára, nemde meg vannak írva Izraél királyai történetének könyvében.

Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, [which had belonged] to Judah, for Israel, are they hot written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

29 És feküdt Járobeám ősei mellé, Izraél királyai mellé. És király lett helyette fia, Zakarja.

And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zechariah his son reigned in his stead.
