गिनती 23
1 १ तब बिलाम ने बालाक से कहा, “यहाँ पर मेरे लिये सात वेदियाँ बनवा, और इसी स्थान पर सात बछड़े और सात मेढ़े तैयार कर।”
And Balaam said to Balac, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven calves, and seven rams.
2 २ तब बालाक ने बिलाम के कहने के अनुसार किया; और बालाक और बिलाम ने मिलकर प्रत्येक वेदी पर एक बछड़ा और एक मेढ़ा चढ़ाया।
And Balac did as Balaam told him; and he offered up a calf and a ram on [every] altar.
3 ३ फिर बिलाम ने बालाक से कहा, “तू अपने होमबलि के पास खड़ा रह, और मैं जाता हूँ; सम्भव है कि यहोवा मुझसे भेंट करने को आए; और जो कुछ वह मुझ पर प्रगट करेगा वही मैं तुझको बताऊँगा।” तब वह एक मुण्डे पहाड़ पर गया।
And Balaam said to Balac, Stand by your sacrifice, and I will go and see if God will appear to me and meet me, and the word which he shall show me, I will report to you. And Balac stood by his sacrifice.
4 ४ और परमेश्वर बिलाम से मिला; और बिलाम ने उससे कहा, “मैंने सात वेदियाँ तैयार की हैं, और प्रत्येक वेदी पर एक बछड़ा और एक मेढ़ा चढ़ाया है।”
And Balaam went to enquire of God; and he went straight forward, and God appeared to Balaam; and Balaam said to him, I have prepared the seven altars, and have offered a calf and a ram on [every] altar.
And God put a word into the mouth of Balaam, and said, you shall return to Balac, and thus shall you speak.
6 ६ और वह उसके पास लौटकर आ गया, और क्या देखता है कि वह सारे मोआबी हाकिमों समेत अपने होमबलि के पास खड़ा है।
And he returned to him, and moreover he stood over his whole burnt offerings, and all the princes of Moab with him; and the Spirit of God came upon him.
7 ७ तब बिलाम ने अपनी गूढ़ बात आरम्भ की, और कहने लगा, “बालाक ने मुझे अराम से, अर्थात् मोआब के राजा ने मुझे पूर्व के पहाड़ों से बुलवा भेजा: ‘आ, मेरे लिये याकूब को श्राप दे, आ, इस्राएल को धमकी दे!’
And he took up his parable, and said, Balac king of Moab sent for me out of Mesopotamia, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse me Jacob, and Come, call for a curse for me upon Israel.
8 ८ परन्तु जिन्हें परमेश्वर ने श्राप नहीं दिया उन्हें मैं क्यों श्राप दूँ? और जिन्हें यहोवा ने धमकी नहीं दी उन्हें मैं कैसे धमकी दूँ?
How can I curse whom the Lord curses not? or how can I devote whom God devotes not?
9 ९ चट्टानों की चोटी पर से वे मुझे दिखाई पड़ते हैं, पहाड़ियों पर से मैं उनको देखता हूँ; वह ऐसी जाति है जो अकेली बसी रहेगी, और अन्यजातियों से अलग गिनी जाएगी!
For from the top of the mountains I shall see him, and from the hills I shall observe him: behold, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.
10 १० याकूब के धूलि के किनके को कौन गिन सकता है, या इस्राएल की चौथाई की गिनती कौन ले सकता है? सौभाग्य यदि मेरी मृत्यु धर्मियों की सी, और मेरा अन्त भी उन्हीं के समान हो!”
Who has exactly calculated the seed of Jacob, and who shall number the families of Israel? let my soul die with the souls of the righteous, and let my seed be as their seed.
11 ११ तब बालाक ने बिलाम से कहा, “तूने मुझसे क्या किया है? मैंने तुझे अपने शत्रुओं को श्राप देने को बुलवाया था, परन्तु तूने उन्हें आशीष ही आशीष दी है।”
And Balac said to Balaam, What have you done to me? I called you to curse my enemies, and behold you have greatly blessed [them].
And Balaam said to Balac, Whatsoever the Lord shall put into my mouth, shall I not take heed to speak this?
13 १३ बालाक ने उससे कहा, “मेरे संग दूसरे स्थान पर चल, जहाँ से वे तुझे दिखाई देंगे; तू उन सभी को तो नहीं, केवल बाहरवालों को देख सकेगा; वहाँ से उन्हें मेरे लिये श्राप दे।”
And Balac said to him, Come yet with me to another place where you shall not see the people, but only you shall see a part of them, and shall not see them all; and curse me them from thence.
14 १४ तब वह उसको सोपीम नामक मैदान में पिसगा के सिरे पर ले गया, और वहाँ सात वेदियाँ बनवाकर प्रत्येक पर एक बछड़ा और एक मेढ़ा चढ़ाया।
And he took him to a high place of the field to the top of the quarried [rock], and he built there seven altars, and offered a calf and a ram on [every] altar.
15 १५ तब बिलाम ने बालाक से कहा, “अपने होमबलि के पास यहीं खड़ा रह, और मैं उधर जाकर यहोवा से भेंट करूँ।”
And Balaam said to Balac, Stand by your sacrifice, and I will go to enquire of God.
16 १६ और यहोवा ने बिलाम से भेंट की, और उसने उसके मुँह में एक बात डाली, और कहा, “बालाक के पास लौट जा, और इस प्रकार कहना।”
And God met Balaam, and put a word into his mouth, and said, return to Balac, and thus shall you speak.
17 १७ और वह उसके पास गया, और क्या देखता है कि वह मोआबी हाकिमों समेत अपने होमबलि के पास खड़ा है। और बालाक ने पूछा, “यहोवा ने क्या कहा है?”
And he returned to him: and he also was standing by his whole burnt sacrifice, and all the princes of Moab with him; and Balac said to him, What has the Lord spoken?
18 १८ तब बिलाम ने अपनी गूढ़ बात आरम्भ की, और कहने लगा, “हे बालाक, मन लगाकर सुन, हे सिप्पोर के पुत्र, मेरी बात पर कान लगा:
And he took up his parable, and said, rise up, Balac, and hear; listen as a witness, you son of Sepphor.
19 १९ परमेश्वर मनुष्य नहीं कि झूठ बोले, और न वह आदमी है कि अपनी इच्छा बदले। क्या जो कुछ उसने कहा उसे न करे? क्या वह वचन देकर उसे पूरा न करे?
God is not as man to waver, nor as the son of man to be threatened; shall he say and not perform? shall he speak and not keep [to his word]?
Behold, I have received [commandment] to bless: I will bless, and not turn back.
21 २१ उसने याकूब में अनर्थ नहीं पाया; और न इस्राएल में अन्याय देखा है। उसका परमेश्वर यहोवा उसके संग है, और उनमें राजा की सी ललकार होती है।
There shall not be trouble in Jacob, neither shall sorrow be seen in Israel: the Lord his God [is] with him, the glories of rulers [are] in him.
It was God who brought him out of Egypt; he has as it were the glory of a unicorn.
23 २३ निश्चय कोई मंत्र याकूब पर नहीं चल सकता, और इस्राएल पर भावी कहना कोई अर्थ नहीं रखता; परन्तु याकूब और इस्राएल के विषय में अब यह कहा जाएगा, कि परमेश्वर ने क्या ही विचित्र काम किया है!
For there is no divination in Jacob, nor enchantment in Israel; in season it shall be told to Jacob and Israel what God shall perform.
24 २४ सुन, वह दल सिंहनी के समान उठेगा, और सिंह के समान खड़ा होगा; वह जब तक शिकार को न खा ले, और मरे हुओं के लहू को न पी ले, तब तक न लेटेगा।”
Behold, the people shall rise up as a lion's whelp, and shall exalt himself as a lion; he shall not lie down till he have eaten the prey, and he shall drink the blood of the slain.
And Balac said to Balaam, Neither curse the people at all for me, nor bless them at all.
26 २६ बिलाम ने बालाक से कहा, “क्या मैंने तुझ से नहीं कहा कि जो कुछ यहोवा मुझसे कहेगा, वही मुझे करना पड़ेगा?”
And Balaam answered and said to Balac, Spoke I not to you, saying, Whatsoever thing God shall speak to me, that will I do?
27 २७ बालाक ने बिलाम से कहा, “चल मैं तुझको एक और स्थान पर ले चलता हूँ; सम्भव है कि परमेश्वर की इच्छा हो कि तू वहाँ से उन्हें मेरे लिये श्राप दे।”
And Balac said to Balaam, Come [and] I will remove you to another place, if it shall please God, and curse me them from thence.
And Balac took Balaam to the top of Phogor, which extends to the wilderness.
29 २९ और बिलाम ने बालाक से कहा, “यहाँ पर मेरे लिये सात वेदियाँ बनवा, और यहाँ सात बछड़े और सात मेढ़े तैयार कर।”
And Balaam said to Balac, build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven calves, and seven rams.
And Balac did as Balaam told him, and offered a calf and a ram on [every] altar.
