1 उसी समय बोअज़ नगर द्वार पर जाकर बैठ गए, और जब वहां वह छुड़ाने वाला आया, जिसका वर्णन बोअज़ रूथ से कर चुके थे, बोअज़ ने उनसे कहा, “मित्र यहां आइए और मेरे पास बैठिए.” सो वह आकर बोअज़ के पास बैठ गया.

Now Boaz went up to the gate, and sat down there. Look, the near kinsman of whom Boaz spoke came by; to whom he said, "Come over here, friend, and sit down." He turned aside, and sat down.

2 इसके बाद बोअज़ ने नगर के पुरनियों में से दस को भी वहां बुलवा लिया और उनसे विनती की, “कृपया यहां बैठिए,” सो वे सब बैठ गए.

He took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, "Sit down here." They sat down.

3 तब बोअज़ ने उस छुड़ानेवाले से कहा, “नावोमी, जो मोआब देश से लौट आई हैं, एलिमेलेख, हमारे रिश्तेदार की भूमि, का एक भाग बेच रही हैं.”

He said to the near kinsman, "Naomi, who has come back out of the country of Moab, is selling the parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech's.

4 सो मैं यह सही समझता हूं कि मैं आपको इसकी सूचना इन शब्दों में दे दूं, “इस ज़मीन को इन गवाहों की उपस्थिति में तथा हमारे नागरिकों के पुरनियों की उपस्थिति में खरीद लो. यदि तुम इसको छुड़ाना चाहो, इसको छुड़ा लो. किंतु यदि तुम छुड़ाना न चाहो, मुझसे कह दो, कि मुझे तुम्हारी इच्छा मालूम हो जाए, क्योंकि तुम्हारे अलावा इसका और कोई दूसरा छुड़ाने वाला नहीं है. तुम्हारे बाद मैं छुड़ा सकता हूं.” उस छुड़ानेवाले ने कहा, “मैं इसको छुड़ा लूंगा.”

I thought to disclose it to you, saying, 'Buy it before those who sit here, and before the elders of my people.' If you will redeem it, redeem it; but if you will not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know. For there is no one to redeem it besides you; and I am after you." He said, "I will redeem it."

5 इस पर बोअज़ ने कहा, “जिस दिन तुम नावोमी से उस ज़मीन को ख़रीदोगे, तुम्हें मोआबी रूथ को, जो उस मृतक रिश्तेदार की विधवा है, भी मोल लेना पड़ेगा कि मृतक का नाम इस संपत्ति के साथ बना रह सके.”

Then Boaz said, "On the day you buy the field from the hand of Naomi and from Ruth the Moabitess, you must also acquire the widow of the deceased, to raise up the name of the deceased on his inheritance."

6 इस पर उस छुड़ानेवाले ने कहा, “इस स्थिति में मैं इसको छुड़ाने में असमर्थ हूं, क्योंकि ऐसा करने पर अपने ही वंश का नुकसान कर बैठूंगा. छुड़ाने का यह अधिकार अब तुम ले लो. क्योंकि मैं यह छुड़ाने में असमर्थ हूं.”

The near kinsman said, "I can't redeem it for myself, lest I mar my own inheritance. Take my right of redemption for yourself; for I can't redeem it."

7 (इस्राएल में पुराने समय से यह प्रथा चली आ रही थी, कि छुड़ाने की प्रक्रिया में लेनदेन को पक्का करने के प्रमाण के रूप में छुड़ाने वाला अपना जूता उतारकर दूसरे व्यक्ति को सौंप दिया करता था. इस्राएल देश में लेनदेन पक्का करने की यही विधि थी.)

Now this was the custom in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning exchanging, to confirm all things: a man took off his sandal, and gave it to his neighbor; and this was the way of attestation in Israel.

8 सो जब उस छुड़ानेवाले ने बोअज़ से कहा, “तुम स्वयं ही इसको खरीद लो,” उसने अपना जूता उतारकर बोअज़ को दे दिया.

So the near kinsman said to Boaz, "Buy it for yourself." And he took off his sandal and gave it to him.

9 तब बोअज़ ने पुरनियों तथा सभी उपस्थित लोगों को यह कहा, “आज आप सभी इस बात के गवाह हैं, कि मैंने नावोमी से वह सब खरीद लिया है, जो एलिमेलेख का तथा किल्‍योन तथा मह्‍लोन का था.

Boaz said to the elders, and to all the people, "You are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Kilion's and Mahlon's, from the hand of Naomi.

10 साथ ही मैंने मह्‍लोन की विधवा मोआबी रूथ को अपनी पत्नी होने के लिए स्वीकार कर लिया है, कि मृतक की संपत्ति के उत्तराधिकार के लिए संतान पैदा हो, और उसके जन्मस्थान तथा उनके रिश्तेदारों में से मृतक का नाम मिटने न पाए. आप सभी आज इसके गवाह हैं!”

Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the deceased on his inheritance, that the name of the deceased may not be cut off from among his brothers, and from the gate of his place. You are witnesses this day."

11 इस पर नगर द्वार की सारी भीड़ तथा नगर के पुरनियों ने उत्तर दिया, “हम इसके गवाह हैं. जो स्त्री तुम्हारे परिवार में प्रवेश कर रही है, याहवेह उसे राहेल तथा लियाह के समान बनाएं, जो दोनों ही इस्राएल के सारे गोत्रों का मूल हैं. तुम एफ़राथा में सम्पन्‍न होते जाओ और बेथलेहेम में तुम्हारा यश फैल जाए.

All the people who were in the gate, and the elders, said, "We are witnesses. May the LORD make the woman who has come into your house like Rachel and like Leah, which two built the house of Israel; and treat you worthily in Ephrathah, and be famous in Bethlehem.

12 याहवेह द्वारा तुम्हें जो संतान इस स्त्री से मिले, वह पेरेज़ के समान हों, जो यहूदाह के तामार द्वारा प्राप्‍त हुए थे.”

Let your house be like the house of Perez, whom Tamar bore to Judah, because of the offspring which the LORD shall give you of this young woman."

13 बोअज़ ने रूथ से विवाह कर लिया और जब वह उसके पास गया, याहवेह ने रूथ को गर्भधारण की क्षमता दी, और उसे एक पुत्र पैदा हुआ.

So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife; and he went in to her, and the LORD gave her conception, and she bore a son.

14 स्त्रियां आकर नावोमी से कहने लगी, “धन्य हैं याहवेह, जिन्होंने आज आपको छुड़ानेवाले के बिना नहीं छोड़ा. इस्राएल देश में इस छुड़ानेवाले का बड़ा नाम हो जाए!

The women said to Naomi, "Blessed be the LORD, who has not left you this day without a redeemer; and let his name be famous in Israel.

15 वह आप में जीवन भर देगा और आपके बुढ़ापे में वही आपका सहारा होगा, क्योंकि आपकी बहू ने उसे जन्म दिया है, उसका प्रेम आप पर बहुत ही अपार है, जो आपके लिए सात पुत्रों से कहीं अधिक बढ़कर है.”

He shall be to you a restorer of life, and sustain you in your old age, for your daughter-in-law, who loves you, who is better to you than seven sons, has borne him."

16 तब नावोमी ने बच्‍चे को अपनी गोद में उठा लिया और धाय के समान उसकी देखभाल करने लगी.

Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and looked after him.

17 पड़ोसी स्त्रियों ने बच्‍चे को एक नाम दिया. उनका कहना था, “नावोमी को एक बेटा हुआ है!” उनके द्वारा बच्‍चे को दिया गया नाम था, ओबेद. यही यिशै का पिता हुआ, जो राजा दावीद के पिता थे. अर्थात् राजा दावीद के दादा.

The women, her neighbors, gave him a name, saying, "There is a son born to Naomi." And they named him Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

18 पेरेज़ की वंशावली इस प्रकार हुई: पेरेज़ हेज़रोन के,

Now these are the generations of Perez: Perez became the father of Hezron,

19 हेज़रोन राम के, राम अम्मीनादाब के,

and Hezron became the father of Ram, and Ram became the father of Amminadab,

20 अम्मीनादाब नाहशोन के, और नाहशोन सलमोन के,

and Amminadab became the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon became the father of Salmon,

21 सलमोन बोअज़ के, बोअज़ ओबेद के,

and Salmon became the father of Boaz, and Boaz became the father of Obed,

22 ओबेद यिशै के और यिशै राजा दावीद के पिता हुए.

and Obed became the father of Jesse, and Jesse became the father of David.
