ויקרא 8

1 וידבר יהוה אל משה לאמר

Adonai spoke to Moses [Drawn out], saying,

2 קח את אהרן ואת בניו אתו ואת הבגדים ואת שמן המשחה ואת פר החטאת ואת שני האילים ואת סל המצות

“Take Aaron [Light-bringer] and his sons with him, and the garments, and the anointing oil, and the bull of the sin offering, and the two rams, and the basket of matzah ·unleavened bread·;

3 ואת כל העדה הקהל אל פתח אהל מועד

and assemble all the congregation at the door of the Tent of Meeting.”

4 ויעש משה כאשר צוה יהוה אתו ותקהל העדה אל פתח אהל מועד

Moses [Drawn out] did as Adonai enjoined him; and the congregation was assembled at the door of the Tent of Meeting.

5 ויאמר משה אל העדה זה הדבר אשר צוה יהוה לעשות

Moses [Drawn out] said to the congregation, “This is the thing which Adonai has enjoined to be done.”

6 ויקרב משה את אהרן ואת בניו וירחץ אתם במים

Moses [Drawn out] brought Aaron [Light-bringer] and his sons, and washed them with water.

7 ויתן עליו את הכתנת ויחגר אתו באבנט וילבש אתו את המעיל ויתן עליו את האפד ויחגר אתו בחשב האפד ויאפד לו בו

He put the coat on him, tied the sash on him, clothed him with the robe, put the ephod on him, and he tied the skillfully woven band of the ephod on him, and fastened it to him with it.

8 וישם עליו את החשן ויתן אל החשן את האורים ואת התמים

He placed the breastplate on him; and in the breastplate he put the 'Urim ·Lights· and the Thummim ·Perfections·.

9 וישם את המצנפת על ראשו וישם על המצנפת אל מול פניו את ציץ הזהב נזר הקדש כאשר צוה יהוה את משה

He set the turban on his head; and on the turban, in front, he set the golden plate, the holy crown; as Adonai enjoined Moses [Drawn out].

10 ויקח משה את שמן המשחה וימשח את המשכן ואת כל אשר בו ויקדש אתם

Moses [Drawn out] took the anointing oil, and anointed the tabernacle and all that was in it, and sanctified them.

11 ויז ממנו על המזבח שבע פעמים וימשח את המזבח ואת כל כליו ואת הכיר ואת כנו--לקדשם

He sprinkled it on the altar seven times, and anointed the altar and all its utensils, and the basin and its base, to sanctify them.

12 ויצק משמן המשחה על ראש אהרן וימשח אתו לקדשו

He poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron [Light-bringer]’s head, and anointed him, to sanctify him.

13 ויקרב משה את בני אהרן וילבשם כתנת ויחגר אתם אבנט ויחבש להם מגבעות--כאשר צוה יהוה את משה

Moses [Drawn out] brought Aaron [Light-bringer]’s sons, and clothed them with coats, and tied sashes on them, and put headbands on them; as Adonai enjoined Moses [Drawn out].

14 ויגש את פר החטאת ויסמך אהרן ובניו את ידיהם על ראש פר החטאת

He brought the bull of the sin offering, and Aaron [Light-bringer] and his sons laid their hands on the head of the bull of the sin offering.

15 וישחט ויקח משה את הדם ויתן על קרנות המזבח סביב באצבעו ויחטא את המזבח ואת הדם יצק אל יסוד המזבח ויקדשהו לכפר עליו

He killed it; and Moses [Drawn out] took the blood, and put it around on the horns of the altar with his finger, and purified the altar, and poured out the blood at the base of the altar, and sanctified it, to make atonement for it.

16 ויקח את כל החלב אשר על הקרב ואת יתרת הכבד ואת שתי הכלית ואת חלבהן ויקטר משה המזבחה

He took all the fat that was on the innards, and the cover of the liver, and the two kidneys, and their fat; and Moses [Drawn out] burned it on the altar.

17 ואת הפר ואת ערו ואת בשרו ואת פרשו--שרף באש מחוץ למחנה כאשר צוה יהוה את משה

But the bull, and its skin, and its meat, and its dung, he burned with fire outside the camp; as Adonai enjoined Moses [Drawn out].

18 ויקרב את איל העלה ויסמכו אהרן ובניו את ידיהם--על ראש האיל

He presented the ram of the burnt offering: and Aaron [Light-bringer] and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram.

19 וישחט ויזרק משה את הדם על המזבח סביב

He killed it; and Moses [Drawn out] sprinkled the blood around on the altar.

20 ואת האיל--נתח לנתחיו ויקטר משה את הראש ואת הנתחים ואת הפדר

He cut the ram into its pieces; and Moses [Drawn out] burned the head, and the pieces, and the fat.

21 ואת הקרב ואת הכרעים רחץ במים ויקטר משה את כל האיל המזבחה עלה הוא לריח ניחח אשה הוא ליהוה כאשר צוה יהוה את משה

He washed the innards and the legs with water; and Moses [Drawn out] burned the whole ram on the altar. It was a burnt offering for a pleasant aroma. It was an offering made by fire to Adonai; as Adonai enjoined Moses [Drawn out].

22 ויקרב את האיל השני איל המלאים ויסמכו אהרן ובניו את ידיהם--על ראש האיל

He presented the other ram, the ram of consecration: and Aaron [Light-bringer] and his sons laid their hands on the head of the ram.

23 וישחט--ויקח משה מדמו ויתן על תנוך אזן אהרן הימנית ועל בהן ידו הימנית ועל בהן רגלו הימנית

He killed it; and Moses [Drawn out] took some of its blood, and put it on the tip of Aaron [Light-bringer]’s right ear, and on the thumb of his right hand, and on the great toe of his right foot.

24 ויקרב את בני אהרן ויתן משה מן הדם על תנוך אזנם הימנית ועל בהן ידם הימנית ועל בהן רגלם הימנית ויזרק משה את הדם על המזבח סביב

He brought Aaron [Light-bringer]’s sons; and Moses [Drawn out] put some of the blood on the tip of their right ear, and on the thumb of their right hand, and on the great toe of their right foot; and Moses [Drawn out] sprinkled the blood around on the altar.

25 ויקח את החלב ואת האליה ואת כל החלב אשר על הקרב ואת יתרת הכבד ואת שתי הכלית ואת חלבהן ואת שוק הימין

He took the fat, and the fat tail, and all the fat that was on the innards, and the cover of the liver, and the two kidneys, and their fat, and the right thigh;

26 ומסל המצות אשר לפני יהוה לקח חלת מצה אחת וחלת לחם שמן אחת--ורקיק אחד וישם על החלבים ועל שוק הימין

and out of the basket of matzah ·unleavened bread·, that was before Adonai, he took one unleavened cake, and one cake of oiled bread, and one wafer, and placed them on the fat, and on the right thigh.

27 ויתן את הכל--על כפי אהרן ועל כפי בניו וינף אתם תנופה לפני יהוה

He put all these in Aaron [Light-bringer]’s hands and in his sons’ hands, and waved them for a wave offering before Adonai.

28 ויקח משה אתם מעל כפיהם ויקטר המזבחה על העלה מלאים הם לריח ניחח אשה הוא ליהוה

Moses [Drawn out] took them from their hands, and burned them on the altar on the burnt offering. They were a consecration for a pleasant aroma. It was an offering made by fire to Adonai.

29 ויקח משה את החזה ויניפהו תנופה לפני יהוה מאיל המלאים למשה היה למנה כאשר צוה יהוה את משה

Moses [Drawn out] took the breast, and waved it for a wave offering before Adonai. It was Moses [Drawn out]’ portion of the ram of consecration, as Adonai enjoined Moses [Drawn out].

30 ויקח משה משמן המשחה ומן הדם אשר על המזבח ויז על אהרן על בגדיו ועל בניו ועל בגדי בניו אתו ויקדש את אהרן את בגדיו ואת בניו ואת בגדי בניו אתו

Moses [Drawn out] took some of the anointing oil, and some of the blood which was on the altar, and sprinkled it on Aaron [Light-bringer], on his garments, and on his sons, and on his sons’ garments with him, and sanctified Aaron [Light-bringer], his garments, and his sons, and his sons’ garments with him.

31 ויאמר משה אל אהרן ואל בניו בשלו את הבשר פתח אהל מועד ושם תאכלו אתו ואת הלחם אשר בסל המלאים כאשר צויתי לאמר אהרן ובניו יאכלהו

Moses [Drawn out] said to Aaron [Light-bringer] and to his sons, “Boil the meat at the door of the Tent of Meeting, and there eat it and the bread that is in the basket of consecration, as I enjoined, saying, ‘Aaron [Light-bringer] and his sons shall eat it.’

32 והנותר בבשר ובלחם--באש תשרפו

What remains of the meat and of the bread you shall burn with fire.

33 ומפתח אהל מועד לא תצאו שבעת ימים--עד יום מלאת ימי מלאיכם כי שבעת ימים ימלא את ידכם

You shall not go out from the door of the Tent of Meeting seven days, until the days of your consecration are fulfilled: for he shall consecrate you seven days.

34 כאשר עשה ביום הזה--צוה יהוה לעשת לכפר עליכם

What has been done today, so Adonai has enjoined to do, to make atonement for you.

35 ופתח אהל מועד תשבו יומם ולילה שבעת ימים ושמרתם את משמרת יהוה ולא תמותו כי כן צויתי

You shall stay at the door of the Tent of Meeting day and night seven days, and thereby obeying what Adonai has ordered done, so that you may not die. For this is what I am enjoined.”

36 ויעש אהרן ובניו--את כל הדברים אשר צוה יהוה ביד משה

Aaron [Light-bringer] and his sons did all the things which Adonai enjoined by Moses [Drawn out].
