< Pwovèb 28 >

1 Mechan yo pa bezwen moun dèyè yo pou yo kouri. Men, moun ki mache dwat yo brav tankou lyon.
The wicked flee when no man pursueth; but the righteous are bold as a lion.
2 Lè nan yon peyi moun ap fè sa ki mal, chak jou gen yon lòt chèf. Men avèk yon moun ki gen konprann, ki konnen sa l'ap fè, gouvènman an ap kanpe pou lontan.
By the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof; but by a man of understanding [and] of knowledge, [its] stability is prolonged.
3 Yon pòv k'ap peze pi pòv pase l', se tankou yon gwo lapli ki gate tout jaden nèt.
A poor man who oppresseth the helpless is a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.
They that forsake the law praise the wicked; but such as keep the law contend with them.
Men, moun k'ap sèvi Seyè a konprann tout bagay.
Evil men understand not judgment; but they that seek Jehovah understand everything.
6 Pito ou pòv men ou serye, pase pou ou rich men ou vòlè.
Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse, double in ways, though he be rich.
Whoso observeth the law is a son that hath understanding; but he that is a companion of profligates bringeth shame to his father.
8 Moun ki vin rich nan prete moun lajan, nan bay kout ponya, se anpile y'ap anpile lajan pou moun ki konn pran ka malere.
He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance gathereth it for him that is gracious to the poor.
9 Lè ou refize fè sa lalwa mande ou fè a, ata lapriyè w'ap fè a p'ap fè Bondye plezi.
He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.
10 Lè yon moun chache pran tèt yon nonm serye pou fè l' fè sa ki mal, se li menm k'ap pran nan pèlen an. Men moun serye a va jwenn bon rekonpans.
Whoso causeth the upright to go astray in an evil way, shall himself fall into his own pit; but the perfect shall inherit good.
11 Yon nonm rich mete nan tèt li li gen bon konprann. Men, yon pòv ki gen lespri ap dekouvri l'.
A rich man is wise in his own eyes; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.
12 Lè se moun k'ap fè sa ki dwat ki rive chèf, se fèt pou tout moun. Men, lè se mechan an ki rive chèf, tout moun al kache.
When the righteous triumph, there is great glory; but when the wicked rise, men conceal themselves.
13 Moun k'ap kache peche p'ap janm wè zafè yo mache. Men, Bondye va gen pitye pou moun ki rekonèt peche yo, pou moun ki chanje lavi yo.
He that covereth his transgressions shall not prosper; but whoso confesseth and forsaketh [them] shall obtain mercy.
Men, moun k'ap fè tèt di ak Bondye ap wè malè tonbe sou yo.
Happy is the man that feareth always; but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into evil.
A roaring lion, and a ranging bear, is a wicked ruler over a poor people.
16 Lè yon chèf pa gen konprann, l'ap peze moun, l'ap fè mechanste. Men, moun ki pa vle wè moun k'ap vòlò ap gouvènen lontan.
The prince void of intelligence is also a great oppressor: he that hateth covetousness shall prolong [his] days.
17 Lè yon moun touye yon lòt, konsyans li boulvèse l', l'ap kouri chache lanmò. Piga pesonn chache kenbe l'.
A man laden with the blood of [any] person, fleeth to the pit: let no man stay him.
18 Malè p'ap rive moun k'ap mennen yon lavi san repwòch. Men, moun ki pa serye, k'ap mache pye gaye, y'ap rete konsa, y'ap tonbe.
Whoso walketh in integrity shall be saved; but he that is perverted in [his] double ways, shall fall in one [of them].
19 Yon moun ki travay di nan jaden l' ap jwenn kont manje pou l' manje. Men, moun k'ap fè bagay ki p'ap sèvi anyen ap toujou pòv.
He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread; but he that followeth the worthless shall have poverty enough.
Men, yo p'ap manke pini moun k'ap prese pou l' rich.
A faithful man aboundeth with blessings; but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
Men, pou nenpòt ti kraze kòb, yon jij ka fè betiz.
To have respect of persons is not good; but for a piece of bread will a man transgress.
22 Moun ki anvi tout toujou ap prese pou yo rich. Yo pa wè grangou k'ap tann yo pi devan.
He that hath an evil eye hasteth after wealth, and knoweth not that poverty shall come upon him.
23 Lè ou rale zòrèy yon moun, pita l'ap gen plis konsiderasyon pou ou pase pou moun k'ap achte figi l'.
He that rebuketh a man shall afterwards find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.
24 Moun k'ap vòlò papa l' ak manman l', epi k'ap di nan kè l': Se pa anyen sa, li menmman parèyman ak moun k'ap mache brize.
Whoso robbeth his father and his mother, and saith, It is no transgression, the same is the companion of a destroyer.
25 Moun ki anvi tout pou yo ap toujou nan kont. Men, moun ki mete konfyans yo nan Seyè a p'ap janm manke anyen.
He that is puffed up in soul exciteth contention; but he that relieth upon Jehovah shall be made fat.
He that confideth in his own heart is a fool; but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.
27 Moun ki bay pòv p'ap janm manke anyen. Men, moun ki fè tankou li pa wè pòv yo chaje ak madichon.
He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack; but he that withdraweth his eyes shall have many a curse.
Men, tonbe mechan yo tonbe, moun k'ap mache dwat yo kanpe ankò.
When the wicked rise, men hide themselves; but when they perish, the righteous increase.
