લૂક 18

1 ૧ સર્વદા પ્રાર્થના કરવી જોઈએ, અને નાહિંમત થવું નહિ, તે શીખવવા સારુ ઈસુએ એક દ્રષ્ટાંત તેઓને કહ્યું કે,

He also taught them by a parable how they ought always to pray and never to lose heart.

2 ૨ ‘એક શહેરમાં એક ન્યાયાધીશ હતો, જે ઈશ્વરથી બીતો ન હતો અને માણસને ગણકારતો ન હતો.

"There was a certain town," he said, "a judge who had neither reverence for God, nor respect for man.

3 ૩ તે શહેરમાં એક વિધવા સ્ત્રી હતી; તે વારંવાર તેની પાસે આવતી હતી કે ‘મારા પ્રતિવાદીની પાસેથી મને ન્યાય અપાવ.’”

"In that same town there was a widow who came again and again before him, saying, "‘Do for me the justice of my adversary.’

4 ૪ કેટલીક મુદત સુધી તે એમ કરવા ઇચ્છતો ન હતો; પણ પછીથી તેણે પોતાના મનમાં વિચાર્યું કે, જોકે હું ઈશ્વરથી બીતો નથી, અને માણસને ગણકારતો નથી,

"For a while he would not, but afterwards he said to himself, ‘Though I have neither reverence for God nor regard for man,

5 ૫ તોપણ આ વિધવા સ્ત્રી મને તસ્દી આપે છે, માટે હું તેને ન્યાય અપાવીશ, કે જેથી તે વારેઘડીએ આવીને મને તંગ કરે નહિ.’”

"‘yet because this woman annoys me I will give her justice, lest by her continual coming she wear me out.’

6 ૬ પ્રભુએ કહ્યું કે, ‘એ અન્યાયી ન્યાયાધીશ શું કહે છે તે સાંભળો.

"Listen" said the Lord, "to what this unjust judge says.

7 ૭ એ ન્યાયાધીશની માફક ઈશ્વર પોતાના પસંદ કરેલા, જેઓ તેમની આગળ રાતદિવસ હાંક મારે છે, અને જેઓ વિષે તે ખામોશી રાખે છે, તેઓને શું ન્યાય નહિ આપશે?’”

"And will not God see justice done to his elect who are crying unto him day and night, even if he seems to delay helping them?

8 ૮ હું તમને કહું છું કે, ‘તે જલદી તેઓને ન્યાય આપશે. પરંતુ માણસનો દીકરો આવશે, ત્યારે તેમને શું પૃથ્વી પર વિશ્વાસ જડશે?’”

"I tell you that he will quickly see justice done to his elect! Nevertheless, when the Son of man comes, will he find faith upon the earth?"

9 ૯ કેટલાક પોતાના વિષે ઘમંડ રાખતા હતા કે અમે ન્યાયી છીએ, અને બીજાને તુચ્છકારતા હતા, તેઓને પણ ઈસુએ આ દ્રષ્ટાંત કહ્યું કે,

Moreover he spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves because they were righteous, and looked down upon the rest.

10 ૧૦ બે માણસો પ્રાર્થના કરવા સારુ ભક્તિસ્થાનમાં ગયા; એક ફરોશી, અને બીજો દાણી હતો.

"Two men are going up to the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, the other a tax-gatherer.

11 ૧૧ ફરોશીએ ઊભા રહીને પોતાના મનમાં એવી પ્રાર્થના કરી કે, ‘ઓ ઈશ્વર, બીજા માણસોના જેવો જુલમી, અન્યાયી, વ્યભિચારી અથવા આ દાણીના જેવો હું નથી, માટે હું તમારી ઉપકારસ્તુતિ કરું છું.

"The Pharisee stood apart and thus began to pray by himself. "‘O God, I thank thee that I am not like the rest of men, extortioners, rogues, adulterers, or even like this tax gatherer;

12 ૧૨ અઠવાડિયામાં બે વાર હું ઉપવાસ કરું છું અને મારી બધી આવકનો દસમો ભાગ આપું છું.’”

"‘I fast twice a week, I pay tithes of all my possessions.’

13 ૧૩ પણ દાણીએ દૂર ઊભા રહીને પોતાની આંખો સ્વર્ગ તરફ ઊંચી કરવા ન ચાહતા, દુ: ખ સાથે છાતી કૂટીને કહ્યું કે, ‘ઓ ઈશ્વર, મુજ પાપી પર દયા કરો.’”

"But the tax-gatherer, standing far back, would not lift up so much as his eyes to heaven, but kept beating his breast and saying, "‘O God be merciful to me, the sinner!’

14 ૧૪ હું તમને કહું છું કે, ‘પેલા કરતા એ માણસ ન્યાયી ઠરીને પોતાને ઘરે ગયો; કેમ કે જે કોઈ પોતાને ઊંચો કરે છે તે નીચો કરાશે, અને જે પોતાને નીચો કરે છે તેને ઊંચો કરવામાં આવશે.’”

"I tell you that this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for every one who exalts himself shall be humbled; but he who humbles himself shall be exalted."

15 ૧૫ તેઓ ઈસુ પાસે પોતાનાં બાળકો પણ લાવ્યા, એ સારુ કે તે તેઓને આશીર્વાદ આપે. પણ શિષ્યોએ તેઓને ધમકાવ્યાં.

And they kept bringing their babies for him to touch them; but when his disciples saw it they began to rebuke them.

16 ૧૬ તેથી ઈસુએ તેઓને બોલાવીને કહ્યું કે, ‘બાળકોને મારી પાસે આવવા દો, ને તેઓને અટકાવો નહિ; કેમ કે ઈશ્વરનું રાજ્ય એવાઓનું જ છે.

But Jesus called for the babies. "Let the little children come to me," he said, "do not hinder them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

17 ૧૭ હું તમને નિશ્ચે કહું છું કે, જે કોઈ બાળકની માફક ઈશ્વરનું રાજ્ય સ્વીકારશે નહિ, તે તેમાં પ્રવેશી શકશે નહિ.’”

"I tell you in solemn truth that whoever will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child, he will never get into it."

18 ૧૮ એક અધિકારીએ ઈસુને પૂછ્યું કે, ‘ઉત્તમ ઉપદેશક, અનંતજીવનનો વારસો પામવા હું શું કરું?’” (aiōnios g166)

A ruler put this question to him. "Good teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" (aiōnios g166)

19 ૧૯ ઈસુએ તેને કહ્યું કે, ‘તું મને ઉત્તમ કેમ કહે છે? એક એટલે ઈશ્વર વિના અન્ય કોઈ ઉત્તમ નથી.

"Why are you calling me ‘good’?"said Jesus to him; "no one is good but God.

20 ૨૦ તું આજ્ઞાઓ જાણે છે કે, વ્યભિચાર ન કર, હત્યા ન કર, ચોરી ન કર, જૂઠી સાક્ષી ન પૂર, પોતાના માબાપને માન આપ.’”

"You know the commandments. "Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother."

21 ૨૧ તેણે કહ્યું કે, એ બધું તો હું મારા નાનપણથી પાળતો આવ્યો છું.’”

"All of these," he replied, "I have kept from my youth up."

22 ૨૨ ઈસુએ તે સાંભળીને તેને કહ્યું કે, ‘તું હજી એક વાત સંબંધી અધૂરો છે; તારું જે છે તે બધું વેચી નાખ, અને તે ગરીબોને આપી દે, એટલે સ્વર્ગમાં તને દ્રવ્ય મળશે; પછી આવીને મારી પાછળ ચાલ.’”

And receiving this reply, Jesus said to him. "One thing you are still lacking. Sell all that you have and give it to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me."

23 ૨૩ પણ એ સાંભળીને તે અતિ ઉદાસ થયો, કેમ કે તેની મિલકત ઘણી હતી.

But when he heard these words he became deeply grieved, for he was exceedingly rich.

24 ૨૪ ઈસુ તેને જોઈને ઉદાસ થયા અને કહ્યું કે, ‘જેઓ ધનવાન છે, તેઓને ઈશ્વરના રાજ્યમાં પ્રવેશવું એ ખૂબ અઘરું છે!

Jesus looked at him and said. "How hard it is for those who have money to enter into the kingdom of God!

25 ૨૫ કેમ કે શ્રીમંતને ઈશ્વરના રાજ્યમાં પ્રવેશવા કરતાં ઊંટને સોયના નાકામાંથી પસાર થવું સહેલું છે.’”

Why, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."

26 ૨૬ તે વચન સાંભળનારાઓએ કહ્યું કે, ‘તો કોણ ઉદ્ધાર પામી શકે?’”

"Who then can be saved?" exclaimed his hearers.

27 ૨૭ પણ ઈસુએ કહ્યું કે, ‘માણસોને જે અશક્ય છે તે ઈશ્વરને શક્ય છે.’”

"Things that are impossible with men," he answered them, "are possible with God."

28 ૨૮ પિતરે કહ્યું કે, ‘જુઓ, અમે પોતાનું બધું મૂકીને તમારી પાછળ આવ્યા છીએ.’”

Then Peter said, "Look! we have left our homes and followed you."

29 ૨૯ ઈસુએ તેઓને કહ્યું કે, હું તમને નિશ્ચે કહું છું કે, ‘જે કોઈએ ઘરને, પત્નીને, ભાઈઓને, માબાપને કે સંતાનોને ઈશ્વરના રાજ્યને લીધે ત્યાગ્યા હશે,

And he said to them, "In Solemn truth I tell you that there is no one who, for the sake of the kingdom of God, has left houses, or wife, or brother, or parents, or children,

30 ૩૦ તેને આ જીવનકાળમાં અનેકગણું તથા આવનાર જમાનામાં અનંતજીવન પ્રાપ્ત થશે જ.’” (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)

"who shall not certainly receive many times as much in this time, and in the age to come eternal." (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)

31 ૩૧ ઈસુએ બારે શિષ્યોને પાસે બોલાવીને તેઓને કહ્યું કે,’ જુઓ, આપણે યરુશાલેમ જઈએ છીએ, અને માણસના દીકરા સંબંધી પ્રબોધકોથી જે લખાયું છે તે સર્વ પૂરું કરાશે.

Then he took the twelve aside and told them. "See, we are on our way to Jerusalem, and all prophets regarding the son of Man will be fulfilled.

32 ૩૨ કેમ કે તેમને બિનયહૂદીઓને આધીન કરાશે, અને તેમની મશ્કરી તથા અપમાન કરાશે, અને તેમના પર તેઓ થૂંકશે;

"He will be betrayed to the Gentiles, and be mocked, and shamefully treated, and spit upon;

33 ૩૩ વળી કોરડા મારીને તેઓ તેમને મારી નાખશે, અને ત્રીજે દિવસે તે પાછા સજીવન થશે.’”

"and they will scourge and kill him; and the third day he will rise again."

34 ૩૪ પણ તેમાંનું કંઈ તેઓના સમજવામાં આવ્યું; નહિ અને આ વાત તેઓથી ગુપ્ત રહી, અને જે કહેવામાં આવ્યું તે તેઓ સમજ્યા નહિ.

But they understood none of these sayings. His words were a mystery to them, and they did not know what he meant.

35 ૩૫ એમ થયું કે ઈસુ યરીખો પાસે આવતા હતા, ત્યારે માર્ગની બાજુએ એક અંધ જન બેઠો હતો, તે ભીખ માગતો હતો.

As Jesus drew near to Jericho, there was a blind man who sat by the wayside begging.

36 ૩૬ ઘણાં લોકો પાસે થઈને જતા હોય એવું સાંભળીને તેણે પૂછ્યું કે, ‘આ શું હશે?’”

He heard the crowd passing and asked what the matter was.

37 ૩૭ તેઓએ તેને કહ્યું કે, ‘ઈસુ નાઝારી પાસે થઈને જાય છે.’”

They told him, "Jesus of Nazareth is passing by."

38 ૩૮ તેણે બૂમ પાડીને કહ્યું કે, ‘ઓ ઈસુ, દાઉદના દીકરા, મારા પર દયા કરો.’”

Then he shouted out, saying, "Jesus, son of David, take pity on me!"

39 ૩૯ જેઓ આગળ જતા હતા તેઓએ તેને ધમકાવ્યો, કે ‘ચૂપ રહે;’ પણ તેણે વધારે મોટેથી બૂમ પાડીને કહ્યું કે, ‘દાઉદના દીકરા, મારા પર દયા કરો.’”

Those who went ahead began to reprove him and to tell him to be still; but he kept clamorously shouting all the more, "Son of David, take pity on me!"

40 ૪૦ ઈસુએ ઊભા રહીને તેને પોતાની પાસે લાવવાની આજ્ઞા કરી અને તે પાસે આવ્યો, ત્યારે ઈસુએ તેને પૂછ્યું કે,

So Jesus stopped and ordered him to be brought to him. When he was come near to him he asked him

41 ૪૧ ‘હું તારે માટે શું કરું, તારી ઇચ્છા શી છે?’ તેણે કહ્યું કે, ‘પ્રભુ હું દ્રષ્ટિ પામું.

"What do you want me to do for you?" "Lord," he answered, "that I might see again."

42 ૪૨ ઈસુએ તેને કહ્યું કે, ‘તું દ્રષ્ટિ પામ; તારા વિશ્વાસે તને બચાવ્યો છે,’

"Receive your sight," said Jesus, "your faith has saved you."

43 ૪૩ અને તરત તે દ્રષ્ટિ પામ્યો અને ઈશ્વરને મહિમા આપતો તે તેમની પાછળ ચાલ્યો; બધા લોકોએ તે જોઈને ઈશ્વરની સ્તુતિ કરી.

Instantly he regained his sight and followed Jesus, giving glory to God; and all the people who saw it gave praise to God.
