ગલાતીઓને પત્ર 2

1 ૧ ચૌદ વર્ષ પછી હું બાર્નાબાસની સાથે ફરી પાછો યરુશાલેમ ગયો અને તિતસને પણ સાથે લઈ ગયો.

Then after a lapse of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus also with [me];

2 ૨ પ્રકટીકરણ દ્વારા મળેલી ઈશ્વરની આજ્ઞાથી હું ત્યાં ગયો અને જે સુવાર્તા બિનયહૂદીઓમાં પ્રગટ કરું છું, તે જેઓ પ્રતિષ્ઠિત હતા તેઓને ગુપ્ત રીતે કહી સંભળાવી, રખેને હું વ્યર્થ દોડતો હોઉં અથવા દોડ્યો હોઉં.

and I went up according to revelation, and I laid before them the glad tidings which I preach among the nations, but privately to those conspicuous [among them], lest in any way I run or had run in vain;

3 ૩ પણ તિતસ જે મારી સાથે હતો, તે ગ્રીક હોવા છતાં પણ સુન્નત કરાવવાની તેને ફરજ પાડવામાં આવી નહિ.

(but neither was Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, compelled to be circumcised; )

4 ૪ આપણા સમુદાયમાં જોડાયેલાં દંભી ભાઈઓને લીધે એમ થયું કે ખ્રિસ્ત ઈસુમાં આપણી જે સ્વતંત્રતા છે, તેની જાસૂસી કરવા સારુ તેઓ ગુપ્ત રીતે અંદર આવ્યા હતા, એ માટે કે તેઓ આપણને પાછા ગુલામીમાં લાવે.

and [it was] on account of the false brethren brought in surreptitiously, who came in surreptitiously to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage;

5 ૫ તેઓને અમે એક ઘડીભર પણ આધીન થયા નહિ, કે જેથી સુવાર્તાનું સત્ય તમારામાં ચાલુ રહે.

to whom we yielded in subjection not even for an hour, that the truth of the glad tidings might remain with you.

6 ૬ અને જેઓ પ્રતિષ્ઠિત કહેવાતા હતા તેઓ ગમે તેવા હતા તેનાથી મને કંઈ ફરક પડતો નથી; ઈશ્વર માણસોની રીતે કોઈનો પક્ષપાત કરતા નથી હા, જેઓ પ્રતિષ્ઠિત કહેવાતા હતા, તેઓએ મારી સુવાર્તામાં કંઈ પણ વધારો કર્યો નહિ;

But from those who were conspicuous as being somewhat — whatsoever they were, it makes no difference to me: God does not accept man's person; for to me those who were conspicuous communicated nothing;

7 ૭ પણ તેથી વિરુદ્ધ, જયારે તેઓએ જોયું કે, જેમ પિતરને સુન્નતીઓમાં યહૂદીઓમાં સુવાર્તાની સેવા સોંપાયેલી છે, તેમ મને બેસુન્નતીઓમાં બિનયહૂદીઓમાં એ સેવા સોંપાયેલી છે,

but, on the contrary, seeing that the glad tidings of the uncircumcision were confided to me, even as to Peter that of the circumcision,

8 ૮ કેમ કે જેમણે સુન્નતીઓનો યહૂદીઓનો પ્રેરિત થવા સારુ પિતરને પ્રેરણા કરી, તેમણે બેસુન્નતીઓનો બિનયહૂદીઓનો પ્રેરિત થવા સારુ મને પણ પ્રેરણા કરી.

(for he that wrought in Peter for [the] apostleship of the circumcision wrought also in me towards the Gentiles, )

9 ૯ અને મને પ્રાપ્ત થયેલો અનુગ્રહ જયારે તેઓએ જાણ્યો, ત્યારે યાકૂબ, કેફા તથા યોહાન, જેઓ આધારસ્તંભ જેવા ગણાતા હતા, તેઓએ મારો તથા બાર્નાબાસનો પ્રેરિત તરીકે સ્વીકાર કર્યો, કે જેથી અમે બિનયહૂદીઓની પાસે જઈએ અને તેઓ સુન્નતીઓની યહૂદીઓની પાસે જાય.

and recognising the grace given to me, James and Cephas and John, who were conspicuous as being pillars, gave to me and Barnabas [the] right hands of fellowship, that we [should go] to the nations, and they to the circumcision;

10 ૧૦ તેઓએ એટલું જ ઇચ્છ્યું કે અમે ગરીબોને મદદ કરીએ અને તે જ કરવાને હું આતુર હતો.

only that we should remember the poor, which same thing also I was diligent to do.

11 ૧૧ પણ જયારે કેફા અંત્યોખ આવ્યો, ત્યારે મેં સામે ચાલીને તેનો વિરોધ કર્યો, કેમ કે તે દોષિત હતો;

But when Peter came to Antioch, I withstood him to [the] face, because he was to be condemned:

12 ૧૨ કારણ કે યાકૂબની પાસેથી કેટલાક લોકોના આવ્યા પહેલાં, તે બિનયહૂદીઓની સાથે ખાતો હતો, પણ તેઓ આવ્યા પછી, સુન્નતીઓથી ડરીને તે ખસી ગયો અને અલગ રહ્યો.

for before that certain came from James, he ate with [those of] the nations; but when they came, he drew back and separated himself, fearing those of [the] circumcision;

13 ૧૩ બાકીના ખ્રિસ્તી યહૂદીઓએ પણ તેની સાથે ઢોંગ કર્યો, એટલે સુધી કે બાર્નાબાસ પણ તેઓના ઢોંગથી દંગ થઈને પાછો પડ્યો.

and the rest of the Jews also played the same dissembling part with him; so that even Barnabas was carried away too by their dissimulation.

14 ૧૪ પણ જયારે મેં જોયું કે તેઓ સુવાર્તાની સત્યતા પ્રમાણે પ્રામાણિકતાથી ચાલતા નથી, ત્યારે મેં બધાની આગળ કેફાને કહ્યું કે, જો તું યહૂદી હોવા છતાં યહૂદીઓની રીતે નહિ, પણ બિનયહૂદીઓની રીતે વર્તે છે, તો બિનયહૂદીઓને યહૂદીઓની રીત પ્રમાણે વર્તવા તું કેમ ફરજ પાડે છે?

But when I saw that they do not walk straightforwardly, according to the truth of the glad tidings, I said to Peter before all, If thou, being a Jew, livest as the nations and not as the Jews, how dost thou compel the nations to Judaize?

15 ૧૫ આપણે જેઓ જન્મથી યહૂદી છીએ અને પાપી બિનયહૂદીઓ નથી તેઓ

We, Jews by nature, and not sinners of [the] nations,

16 ૧૬ જાણીએ છીએ કે, મનુષ્ય નિયમશાસ્ત્રની કરણીઓથી નહિ, પણ ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્ત પરના વિશ્વાસથી ન્યાયી ઠરે છે. અમે પણ ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્ત પર વિશ્વાસ કર્યો કે જેથી અમે નિયમશાસ્ત્રની કરણીઓથી નહિ પણ ખ્રિસ્ત પરના વિશ્વાસથી ન્યાયી ઠરીએ, કેમ કે નિયમશાસ્ત્રની કરણીઓથી કોઈ પણ મનુષ્ય ન્યાયી ઠરશે નહિ.

but knowing that a man is not justified on the principle of works of law [nor] but by the faith of Jesus Christ, we also have believed on Christ Jesus, that we might be justified on the principle of [the] faith of Christ; and not of works of law; because on the principle of works of law no flesh shall be justified.

17 ૧૭ પણ ખ્રિસ્તમાં ન્યાયી ઠરવાની ઇચ્છા રાખીને, જો આપણે પોતે પાપી માલૂમ પડીએ, તો શું ખ્રિસ્ત પાપના સેવક છે? કદી નહિ.

Now if in seeking to be justified in Christ we also have been found sinners, then [is] Christ minister of sin? Far be the thought.

18 ૧૮ કેમ કે જેને મેં પાડી નાખ્યું, તેને હું ફરીથી બાંધુ, તો હું પોતાને અપરાધી ઠરાવું છું.

For if the things I have thrown down, these I build again, I constitute myself a transgressor.

19 ૧૯ કેમ કે હું ઈશ્વરને માટે જીવવાને, નિયમશાસ્ત્ર દ્વારા નિયમશાસ્ત્ર પ્રત્યે મૃત્યુ પામ્યો છું.

For I, through law, have died to law, that I may live to God.

20 ૨૦ હું ખ્રિસ્તની સાથે વધસ્તંભે જડાયો છું, પરંતુ હું જીવું છું, તોપણ હું નહિ, પણ મારામાં ખ્રિસ્ત જીવે છે; અને હવે મનુષ્યદેહમાં મારું જે જીવન છે તે ઈશ્વરના દીકરા પરના વિશ્વાસથી છે; તેમણે મારા પર પ્રેમ કર્યો અને મારે માટે પોતાનું અર્પણ કર્યું.

I am crucified with Christ, and no longer live, I, but Christ lives in me; but [in] that I now live in flesh, I live by faith, the [faith] of the Son of God, who has loved me and given himself for me.

21 ૨૧ હું ઈશ્વરની કૃપા નિષ્ફળ કરતો નથી, કેમ કે જો ન્યાયીપણું નિયમશાસ્ત્રથી મળતું હોય તો ખ્રિસ્તનાં મરણનો કોઈ અર્થ નથી.

I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness [is] by law, then Christ has died for nothing.
