કરિંથીઓને બીજો પત્ર 8
Now, brothers, I wish to tell you about the grace of God which has been manifest in the churches of Macedonia.
2 ૨ વિપત્તિની ભારે કસોટીમાં તેઓનો પુષ્કળ આનંદ તથા ભારે ગરીબાઈ ઉદારતારૂપી પુષ્કળ સમૃદ્ધિમાં બદલાઈ ગઈ.
For although in heavy trial of affliction, their overbrimming happiness, even in spite of their deep poverty, abounded to the opulence of their unselfishness.
3 ૩ કેમ કે હું સાક્ષી પૂરું છું કે, તેઓએ પોતાની શક્તિ પ્રમાણે, બલકે શક્તિ ઉપરાંત દાનો, પોતાની ખુશીથી આપ્યાં.
For I can testify that according to their ability, and even beyond their ability, of their own free will, too, they have given help.
4 ૪ પોતાની આ ઉદારતા તથા સંતોની સેવા કરવામાં તેઓની ભાગીદારી સ્વીકારવાને તેઓએ અમને આગ્રહપૂર્વક વિનંતી કરી;
With earnest entreaty they craved of me the privilege of a share in ministering to the saints in Jerusalem.
5 ૫ વળી જેમ અમે આશા રાખી હતી, તેમ નહિ; પણ તેઓએ પ્રથમ પ્રભુને અને ઈશ્વરની ઇચ્છા પ્રમાણે પોતાને પણ અમને સ્વાધીન કર્યા.
And this not as I had expected, but in accordance with the will of God, they first gave themselves to God and to me.
6 ૬ માટે અમે તિતસને વિનંતી કરી કે, જેમ તેણે અગાઉ શરૂઆત કરી હતી, તે જ પ્રમાણે તે તમારામાં આ ઉદારતાની કૃપા સંપૂર્ણ કરે.
With the result that I have been begging Titus that, as he had been the one to begin the work with you, so he should complete among you this grace also.
7 ૭ પણ જેમ તમે સર્વ બાબતોમાં, એટલે વિશ્વાસમાં, વાણીમાં, જ્ઞાનમાં, ઉત્કંઠામાં તથા અમારા ઉપરના તમારા પ્રેમમાં વધ્યા, તેવી જ રીતે આ ઉદારતાની સેવામાં પણ વૃદ્ધિ પામો.
Now then, as you excel in everything, in faith and utterance and knowledge and all zeal and in your love to me, see to it that you excel in this grace also.
8 ૮ હું આ બાબત આજ્ઞારૂપે નહિ, પણ બીજાઓની ઉત્કંઠાની સરખામણીમાં તમારા પ્રેમની પ્રામાણિકતાની પરીક્ષા કરવાને કહું છું.
I do not say this by way of command, but by the zeal of others I am trying to prove the reality of your love.
9 ૯ કેમ કે તમે આપણા પ્રભુ ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્તની કૃપા જાણો છો કે, તેઓ ધનવાન હોવા છતાં તમારે માટે નિર્ધન થયા, કે જેથી તમે તેમની ગરીબીથી ધનવાન થાઓ.
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, how though he was rich, for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich.
10 ૧૦ આ બાબતમાં હું અભિપ્રાય આપું છું; જે તમને મદદરૂપ થશે, કારણ કે એક વર્ષ અગાઉ તમે કેવળ એ કામ કરવાનો આરંભ કર્યો હતો, એટલું જ નહીં પણ તે કરવાની તમારી ધગશ પણ હતી.
And I will give you my opinion in this matter; for this offering is fitting in your case, considering that you made a beginning before others, not only in the willingness to do something but also in actually doing something a year ago.
11 ૧૧ તો હવે તે કામ પૂરું કરો કે જેથી જે પ્રમાણે તમારી આતુર ઇચ્છા હતી તે પ્રમાણે તમારી શક્તિ મુજબ તે પરિપૂર્ણ થાય.
So now complete the doing of it also, in order that just as there was the readiness to will, so there may be the accomplishment according to your means.
12 ૧૨ કેમ કે જો આ કામ કરવાની ઇચ્છા હોય તો કોઈ માણસ પાસે જે નથી તે પ્રમાણે નહિ, પણ જે છે તે પ્રમાણે તે ઇચ્છા માન્ય છે.
For if there be first willing mind, the gift is accepted according to what a man has, and not according to what he has not.
Nor are other people to be relieved, and you to be distressed;
14 ૧૪ પણ તે સમાનતાને ધોરણે થાય એટલે કે વર્તમાન સમયમાં તમારી સમૃદ્ધિ તેઓની અછત કે તેઓની સમૃદ્ધિ પણ તમારી અછત પૂરી પાડે, કે જેથી સમાનતા થાય;
but burdens are to be equalized. Now your abundance at this present time present time is a supply for their want, in supply for your want; and so burdens be equalized,
15 ૧૫ જેમ લખેલું છે, ‘જેની પાસે ઘણું હતું તેને વધી પડ્યું નહિ; અને જેની પાસે થોડું હતું તેને ખૂટી પડ્યું નહિ.’”
even as it is written, He who gathered much had nothing over, and he who gathered little did not lack.
But thanks be to God who has inspired in the heart of Titus the same zeal on your behalf that I have.
17 ૧૭ કેમ કે તેણે અમારી વિનંતી સ્વીકારી એટલું જ નહિ પણ તે પોતે ઘણો આતુર હોવાથી સ્વેચ્છાથી તમારી પાસે આવ્યો.
For he not only consented to my request, but being thoroughly in earnest, comes to you of his own accord.
18 ૧૮ વળી અમે તેની સાથે એક ભાઈને મોકલ્યો છે કે જેનું નામ સુવાર્તાપ્રચારની બાબતમાં સર્વ વિશ્વાસી સમુદાયોમાં પ્રશંસનીય છે.
And I am sending with him that brother whose fame in the service of the gospel is spread through all the churches.
19 ૧૯ એટલું જ નહિ, પણ તે ભાઈ વિશ્વાસી સમુદાયો દ્વારા નિમાયેલો છે, કે જેથી પ્રભુના મહિમાને અર્થે આ કૃપાની જે સેવા અમને સોંપવામાં આવી છે તે કરવા અને અમારી મદદ કરવાની ઉત્કંઠા દર્શાવવાં તે અમારી સાથે ફરે.
More than that, he is the one chosen by the churches to accompany me on my journey, in administering this gift of yours for the Lord’s glory. And this has my full consent,
20 ૨૦ અમે કાળજી રાખીએ છીએ કે દાન ઉઘરાવવાનો આ જે વહીવટ અમે કરીએ છીએ, તે વિષે કોઈ અમારા દોષારોપણ ન કરે.
because I am on my guard in this, that no one should blame me, in respect to this bounty which I am administering.
21 ૨૧ કેવળ પ્રભુની જ દ્રષ્ટિમાં નહિ, પણ માણસોની દ્રષ્ટિમાં પણ જે યોગ્ય છે તે કરવા વિષે અમે કાળજી રાખીએ છીએ.
For I aim at being above reproach, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.
22 ૨૨ તેઓની સાથે અમે અમારા ભાઈને મોકલ્યો છે, કે જેની અમે ઘણી બાબતોમાં ઘણીવાર કસોટી કરી અને તે અમને મહેનતુ માલૂમ પડ્યો છે અને હમણાં તો તમારા પર તેનો ઘણો ભરોસો હોવાથી તે વધારે મહેનતુ હોવાની ખાતરી થયેલી છે.
With them I am sending our brother of whose zeal I have often had proof in many ways, and who is now zealous because of his great confidence in you.
23 ૨૩ તિતસ વિષે કોઈ પૂછે તો તે મારો સાથી તથા તમારે માટે મારો સહકર્મી છે; અને અમારા ભાઈઓ વિષે કોઈ પૂછે તો તેઓ મંડળી દ્વારા મોકલાયેલા તથા ખ્રિસ્તનો મહિમા છે.
As for Titus, remember that he is a partner of mine, and is also my associate in labors for you. As for the other brothers, remember that they are delegates from the churches, men in whom Christ is glorified.
So show to the churches an evidence of your love, and a justification to these brothers of my boasting about you.
