તિમોથીને પહેલો પત્ર 2

1 ૧ હવે સર્વ પ્રથમ હું એવો બોધ કરું છું કે, વિનંતી, પ્રાર્થના, મધ્યસ્થી તથા આભારસ્તુતિ સઘળાં માણસોને માટે કરવામાં આવે;

First of all then, I am urging that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered regularly for all men;

2 ૨ રાજાઓ અને સર્વ અધિકારીઓને માટે પણ કરવામાં આવે જેથી આપણે શાંત તથા નિરાંતનું જીવન પૂર્ણ ઈશ્વરમય તથા સન્માનપૂર્વક જીવીએ.

for kings and all who are in authority, in order that we may lead a tranquil and peaceful life in all godliness an gravity.

3 ૩ કેમ કે ઈશ્વર આપણા ઉદ્ધારકર્તાની દ્રષ્ટિએ તે સારું તથા સ્વીકાર્ય છે.

For this is good and pleasing in the eyes of our Saviour God,

4 ૪ તેઓ ઇચ્છે છે કે સઘળાં માણસો ઉદ્ધાર પામે અને તેઓને સત્યનું જ્ઞાન પ્રાપ્ત થાય.

whose will it is that all men should be saved, and come into full knowledge of the truth.

5 ૫ કેમ કે એક જ ઈશ્વર છે તદુપરાંત ઈશ્વર તથા મનુષ્યોની વચ્ચે એક જ મધ્યસ્થ છે તે મનુષ્ય, ખ્રિસ્ત ઈસુ

For God is one; and one is mediator between God and man, the Man Christ Jesus,

6 ૬ જેમણે સઘળાંનું મુક્તિમૂલ્ય ચૂકવવા સ્વાર્પણ કર્યું; તેમની સાક્ષી નિર્માણ થયેલ સમયે આપવામાં આવી હતી.

who gave himself as a ransom in behalf of all, to be attested in due time.

7 ૭ મને તે હેતુસર પોકારનાર તથા પ્રેરિત હું સાચું બોલું છું, જૂઠું નહિ અને વિશ્વાસ તથા સત્યમાં બિનયહૂદીઓને માટે શિક્ષક નિયુક્ત કરવામાં આવ્યો છે.

It was for this testimony that I myself was appointed a herald and apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), to be a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

8 ૮ તેથી મારી ઇચ્છા છે કે, પુરુષો સર્વ સ્થળે ગુસ્સા તથા વિવાદ વિના પવિત્ર હાથો ઊંચા કરીને પ્રાર્થના કરે.

My wish, then, is that in every place the men should offer prayer, lifting up holy hands, free from anger and disputation;

9 ૯ તે જ પ્રમાણે સ્ત્રીઓ પણ મર્યાદા તથા સંયમ રાખીને શોભતાં વસ્ત્રોથી પોતાને શણગારે; ગૂંથેલા વાળથી તથા સોના કે મોતીના અલંકારથી કે ખર્ચાળ વસ્ત્રોથી નહિ,

in like manner also the women. I desire women to clothe themselves in suitable apparel, adorning themselves with reverence and self- restraint; not with hair plaited with gold or pearls, or with expensive clothes,

10 ૧૦ પણ સારાં કાર્યો દ્વારા ઈશ્વરપરાયણતા માનનાર સ્ત્રીઓને જે ઉચિત છે તેનાથી શણગારે.

but (as becomes women proclaiming godliness) with the ornament of good deeds.

11 ૧૧ સ્ત્રીએ સંપૂર્ણ આધીનતાથી શાંત રહીને શીખવું.

Let a woman learn quietly in entire submission.

12 ૧૨ ઉપદેશ કરવાની કે, પુરુષ પર અધિકાર ચલાવવાની હું સ્ત્રીને રજા આપતો નથી, પણ તેણે શાંત રહેવું.

I allow no woman to teach, or to exercise authority over a man; but let her keep quiet.

13 ૧૩ કેમ કે આદમ પહેલાં ઉત્પન્ન થયો, પછી હવા;

It was Adam who was first formed, then Eve.

14 ૧૪ આદમ છેતરાયો નહિ, પણ સ્ત્રીએ છેતરાઈને ઉલ્લંઘન કર્યું;

And it was not Adam who was deceived; but it was the woman who was thoroughly deceived, and who became involved in transgression.

15 ૧૫ તોપણ જો સ્ત્રી મર્યાદાસહિત વિશ્વાસમાં, પ્રેમમાં તથા પવિત્રતામાં રહે તો તે સંતાનપ્રસવ દ્વારા ઉદ્ધાર પામશે.

Notwithstanding she will be saved by the Child-bearing; (so will they all), if they live in faith and love and holiness, with self- restraint.
