થેસ્સાલોનિકીઓને પહેલો પત્ર 5

1 ૧ હવે ભાઈઓ, સમયો તથા ઈશ્વરીય પ્રસંગો વિષે તમને લખી જણાવવાંની કોઈ જરૂર નથી.

Now as to the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that anything be written to you.

2 ૨ કેમ કે તમે પોતે સારી રીતે જાણો છો કે, જેમ રાત્રે ચોર આવે છે તે પ્રમાણે પ્રભુ ઈસુનો દિવસ આવી રહ્યો છે.

You yourselves know perfectly that the Day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night.

3 ૩ કેમ કે જયારે લોકો કહેશે કે, ‘શાંતિ તથા સલામતી છે’, ત્યારે સગર્ભાની વેદનાની જેમ તેઓનો એકાએક વિનાશ થશે, તેઓ બચવા પામશે જ નહિ.

While men are saying "Peace and safety," then, like birth-pangs upon a woman with child, destruction will come upon them suddenly. In no wise will they escape.

4 ૪ પણ ભાઈઓ, તમે અંધારામાં નથી, કે તે દિવસ ચોરની પેઠે તમારા પર આવી પડે.

But you, brothers, are not in darkness, that "the Day" should come upon you like a bandit.

5 ૫ તમે સઘળાં અજવાળાનાં અને દિવસના દીકરાઓ છો; આપણે રાતનાં કે અંધકારનાં સંતાનો નથી.

For you are all sons of light, and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness.

6 ૬ એ માટે બીજાઓની જેમ આપણે ઊંઘીએ નહિ, પણ જાગતા તથા સાવધાન રહીએ.

So then let us not be sleeping as do the rest, but let us be watchful and self-controlled.

7 ૭ કેમ કે ઊંઘનારાઓ રાત્રે ઊંઘે છે અને દારૂ પીનારાઓ રાત્રે છાકટા થાય છે.

For those who are sleeping, sleep in the night, and those who are drunken, are drunken in the night.

8 ૮ પણ આપણે દિવસના છીએ, માટે વિશ્વાસનું તથા પ્રેમનું બખતર અને ઉદ્ધારની આશાનો ટોપ પહેરીને સાવધાન રહીએ.

But let us who are of the day be self-controlled, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

9 ૯ કેમ કે ઈશ્વરે આપણને કોપને સારુ નહિ, પણ આપણા પ્રભુ ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્ત દ્વારા ઉદ્ધાર પ્રાપ્ત કરવા સારુ નિર્માણ કર્યા છે;

For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to win salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

10 ૧૦ ખ્રિસ્ત આપણે સારુ મરણ પામ્યા, કે જેથી આપણે જાગીએ કે ઊંઘીએ; તેમની સાથે જીવીએ.

He died for us, in order that whether we are keeping vigil in life or sleeping in death we may ever be living together with him.

11 ૧૧ માટે જેમ તમે હમણાં કરો છો તેમ જ અરસપરસ દિલાસો આપો અને એકબીજાને મજબૂત કરો.

So comfort one another, and try to build one another up, as indeed you are doing.

12 ૧૨ પણ, ભાઈઓ, અમે તમને વિનંતી કરીએ છીએ કે, જેઓ તમારા માટે શ્રમ કરે છે, પ્રભુમાં તમારા આગેવાન છે તથા તમને બોધ કરે છે તેઓની તમે કદર કરો;

I entreat you, brothers, to acknowledge those who are toiling among you and are your leaders in the Lord, and give you counsel.

13 ૧૩ અને તેઓની સેવાને લીધે પ્રેમસહિત તેઓને અતિ ઘણું માન આપો; તમે એકબીજાની સાથે શાંતિમાં રહો.

Esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Live in peace among yourselves.

14 ૧૪ વળી, ભાઈઓ, અમે તમને વિનંતી કરીએ છીએ કે, તમે આળસુઓને ચેતવણી, નિરાશ થયેલાઓને ઉત્તેજન અને નિર્બળોને આધાર આપો, સઘળાંની સાથે સહનશીલ થાઓ.

And, brothers, we urge you to admonish the disorderly, comfort the faint-hearted, sustain the weak, lose patience with none.

15 ૧૫ સાવધ રહો કે, કોઈ દુષ્ટતાનાં બદલામાં સામી દુષ્ટતા ન આચરે પણ તમે સદા એકબીજાનું તથા સર્વનું હિત સાધવાને યત્ન કરો.

Take care that none of you ever return evil for evil, but always pursue what is kind to one another and to all.

16 ૧૬ સદા આનંદ કરો;

Always be joyful.

17 ૧૭ નિરંતર પ્રાર્થના કરો;

Pray without ceasing.

18 ૧૮ દરેક બાબતમાં આભારસ્તુતિ કરો, કેમ કે તમારા વિષે ખ્રિસ્ત ઈસુમાં ઈશ્વરની ઇચ્છા એવી જ છે.

Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.

19 ૧૯ આત્માને હોલવશો નહિ,

Quench not the Spirit.

20 ૨૦ પ્રબોધવાણીઓને તુચ્છકારશો નહિ.

Do not despise prophesyings.

21 ૨૧ પણ સઘળી બાબતોને પારખો, જે સારું છે તેને પકડી રાખો.

But try all, holding fast to the good.

22 ૨૨ દરેક પ્રકારની દુષ્ટતાથી દૂર રહો.

Hold aloof from every form of evil.

23 ૨૩ શાંતિના ઈશ્વર પોતે તમને સંપૂર્ણ પવિત્ર કરો અને આપણા પ્રભુ ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્તનાં આગમન સુધી તમારો આત્મા, પ્રાણ તથા શરીર નિર્દોષતામાં સંભાળી રાખો.

May the God of peace consecrate you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept altogether faultless until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

24 ૨૪ જેમણે તમને બોલાવ્યા છે તે વિશ્વસનીય છે અને તે એમ કરશે.

He who calls you is faithful; he will fulfil my prayer.

25 ૨૫ ભાઈઓ, અમારે માટે પ્રાર્થના કરો.

Brothers, pray for me.

26 ૨૬ પવિત્ર ચુંબનથી સર્વ ભાઈઓને સલામ કહેજો.

Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss.

27 ૨૭ હું તમને પ્રભુમાં પ્રતિજ્ઞા લેવડાવું છું કે, આ પત્ર બધા ભાઈઓને વાંચી સંભળાવજો.

I adjure you, in the name of the Lord, to have this letter read to all the brothers.

28 ૨૮ આપણા પ્રભુ ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્તની કૃપા તમારા પર હો.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
