1 રાજઓ 1
1 ૧ હવે દાઉદ રાજા ઘણો વૃદ્ધ અને પ્રોઢ ઉંમરનો થયો હોવાથી તેઓએ તેને વસ્ત્રો ઓઢાડ્યાં, પણ તેને હૂંફ મળી નહિ.
Now king David was old and advanced in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he couldn't keep warm.
2 ૨ તેથી તેના સેવકોએ તેને કહ્યું, “અમારા માલિક રાજાને માટે એક જુવાન કુમારિકા શોધી કાઢીએ. તે રાજાની હજૂરમાં ઊભી રહીને તેમની સેવા અને સારવાર કરે. આપની સાથે સૂઈ જાય જેથી આપનું શરીર ઉષ્માભર્યું રહે.”
Therefore his servants said to him, "Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin. And let her attend the king, and care for him; and let her lie in your bosom, that my lord the king may keep warm."
3 ૩ તેથી તેઓએ સુંદર કન્યા માટે આખા ઇઝરાયલમાં શોધ કરી. તેઓને શૂનામ્મી અબીશાગ નામે એક કન્યા મળી. તેને તેઓ રાજા પાસે લાવ્યા.
So they sought for a beautiful young woman throughout all the borders of Israel, and found Abishag the Shunammite, and brought her to the king.
The young woman was very beautiful; and she became the king's attendant and served him; but the king did not know her intimately.
5 ૫ તે સમયે હાગ્ગીથના દીકરા અદોનિયાએ અભિમાન કરતાં કહ્યું કે, “હું રાજા થઈશ.” તેણે પોતાને માટે રથો, ઘોડેસવારો તથા પોતાની આગળ દોડવા માટે પચાસ માણસો તૈયાર કર્યા.
Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, "I will be king." So he prepared for himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.
6 ૬ “તેં આ પ્રમાણે કેમ કર્યું?” એવું કહીને તેના પિતાએ તેને કોઈ વખત નારાજ કર્યો નહોતો. અદોનિયા ઘણો રૂપાળો હતો, તે આબ્શાલોમ પછી જનમ્યો હતો.
His father had never scolded him at any time by saying, "Why have you done so?" And he was also a very handsome man; and he was born after Absalom.
7 ૭ તેણે સરુયાના દીકરા યોઆબ તથા અબ્યાથાર યાજક પાસેથી સલાહ લીધી. તેઓએ અદોનિયાને અનુસરીને તેને સહાય કરી.
And he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the cohen. And they followed Adonijah and helped him.
8 ૮ પણ સાદોક યાજક, યહોયાદાનો દીકરો બનાયા, નાથાન પ્રબોધક, શિમઈ, રેઈ તથા દાઉદના યોદ્ધાઓ અદોનિયાના પક્ષે ગયા નહિ.
But Zadok the cohen, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David, were not with Adonijah.
9 ૯ અદોનિયાએ એન-રોગેલ પાસેના ઝોહેલેથના પથ્થરની બાજુએ ઘેટાં, બળદો તથા પુષ્ટ પશુઓનું અર્પણ કર્યું. તેણે પોતાના સર્વ ભાઈઓને, એટલે રાજાઓના દીકરાઓને તથા રાજાના સેવકોને એટલે યહૂદિયાના સર્વ માણસોને આમંત્રણ આપ્યું.
And Adonijah sacrificed sheep and oxen and fatlings by the stone of Zoheleth, which is near En Rogel; and he called all his brothers, the king's sons, and all the men of Judah, the king's servants:
but he did not invite Nathan the prophet, or Benaiah, or the mighty men, or his brother Solomon.
11 ૧૧ પછી નાથાને સુલેમાનની માતા બાથશેબાને બોલાવીને પૂછ્યું, “શું તમે નથી સાંભળ્યું કે, હાગ્ગીથનો દીકરો અદોનિયા રાજા બન્યો છે અને આપણા માલિક દાઉદને ખબર નથી?
Then Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, "Haven't you heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith reigns, and David our lord doesn't know it?
Now therefore come, please let me give you advice, that you may save your own life, and the life of your son Solomon.
13 ૧૩ તમે દાઉદ રાજા પાસે જઈને તેમને કહો કે, ‘મારા માલિક રાજા, તમે શું આ તમારી દાસી આગળ એવા સમ નથી ખાધા કે, “તારો દીકરો સુલેમાન ચોક્કસ મારા પછી રાજા થશે અને તે મારા રાજ્યાસન પર બેસશે?” તો પછી શા માટે અદોનિયા રાજ કરે છે?’
Go in to king David, and tell him, 'Did you not, my lord, king, swear to your handmaid, saying, "Surely Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he shall sit on my throne"? Why then does Adonijah reign?'
And look, while you are still there speaking with the king, I also will come in after you and confirm your words."
15 ૧૫ તેથી બાથશેબા રાજાના ઓરડામાં ગઈ. રાજા ઘણો વૃદ્વ થયો હતો અને શૂનામ્મી અબીશાગ રાજાની સેવા ચાકરી કરતી હતી.
Bathsheba went in to the king into the room. The king was very old; and Abishag the Shunammite was attending to the king.
Bathsheba bowed, and showed respect to the king. The king said, "What would you like?"
17 ૧૭ તેણે તેને જવાબ આપ્યો, “મારા માલિક, તમે તમારી દાસી આગળ તમારા ઈશ્વર યહોવાહના સમ ખાધા હતા, ‘ચોક્કસ તારો દીકરો સુલેમાન મારા પછી રાજ કરશે અને તે મારા રાજ્યાસન પર બેસશે.’”
And she said to him, "My lord, you swore by the LORD your God to your handmaid, 'Assuredly Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he shall sit on my throne.'
Now, look, Adonijah reigns; and you, my lord the king, do not know it.
19 ૧૯ તેણે બળદો, પુષ્ટ પશુઓ અને ઘેટાંનું અર્પણ કર્યું છે અને રાજાના સર્વ દીકરાઓને, અબ્યાથાર યાજકને તથા સેનાધિપતિ યોઆબને આમંત્રણ આપ્યાં છે, પણ તેણે તમારા સેવક સુલેમાનને આમંત્રણ આપ્યું નથી.
And he has sacrificed many oxen and fatlings and sheep, and has invited all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the cohen, and Joab the commander of the army; but he hasn't invited Solomon your servant.
20 ૨૦ મારા માલિક રાજા, સર્વ ઇઝરાયલની નજર તમારા પર છે, મારા માલિક રાજા પછી તમારા રાજ્યાસન પર કોણ બેસશે તે અમને જણાવો.
And now, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you to announce to them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.
21 ૨૧ નહિ તો જયારે મારા માલિક રાજા પોતાના પિતૃઓની જેમ ઊંઘી જશે, ત્યારે એમ થશે કે હું તથા મારો દીકરો સુલેમાન અપરાધી ગણાઈશું.”
Otherwise it will happen, when my lord the king shall sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon will be considered criminals."
And look, while she was still speaking with the king, Nathan the prophet came in.
23 ૨૩ સેવકોએ રાજાને જણાવ્યું કે, “નાથાન પ્રબોધક અહીં છે.” જયારે તે રાજાની આગળ આવ્યો, ત્યારે તેણે રાજાની આગળ નમીને પ્રણામ કર્યા.
And they told the king, saying, "Look, Nathan the prophet." And when he came in before the king, he bowed himself before the king with his face to the ground.
24 ૨૪ નાથાને કહ્યું, “મારા માલિક રાજા, શું તમે એમ કહ્યું છે કે, ‘મારા પછી અદોનિયા રાજ કરશે અને તે મારા રાજ્યાસન પર બેસશે?’
And Nathan said, "My lord, king, have you said, 'Adonijah shall be king after me, and he shall sit on my throne?'
25 ૨૫ કેમ કે આજે જ તેણે જઈને પુષ્કળ બળદો, પુષ્ટ પશુઓ, તથા ઘેટાંનું અર્પણ કર્યું છે અને રાજાએ સર્વ દીકરાઓને, સેનાધિપતિઓ તથા અબ્યાથાર યાજકને આમંત્રણ આપ્યું છે. તેઓ તેની આગળ ખાય છે અને પીવે છે અને કહે છે, ‘રાજા અદોનિયા ઘણું જીવો!’”
For he has gone down today and has sacrificed oxen and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the king's sons, and the commanders of the army, and Abiathar the cohen. Look, they are eating and drinking before him, and say, 'Long live king Adonijah.'
26 ૨૬ પણ મને, હા, મને આ તમારા સેવકને, સાદોક યાજકને, યહોયાદાના દીકરા બનાયાને તથા તમારા સેવક સુલેમાનને તેણે આમંત્રણ આપ્યું નથી.
But me, me your servant, and Zadok the cohen, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and your servant Solomon, he has not invited.
27 ૨૭ શું એ કામ મારા માલિક રાજાએ કર્યું છે? જો એમ હોય તો મારા માલિક રાજાની પછી તેમના રાજ્યાસન પર કોણ બેસશે એ તમે આ તમારા દાસને તો જણાવ્યું નથી.”
Has this thing been brought about by my lord the king, and you haven't told your servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?"
28 ૨૮ પછી દાઉદ રાજાએ જવાબ આપ્યો, “બાથશેબાને મારી પાસે બોલાવો.” તે રાજાની હજૂરમાં આવીને તેની સંમુખ ઊભી રહી.
Then king David answered, "Summon Bathsheba to me." So she came into the king's presence, and stood before him.
29 ૨૯ રાજાએ સમ ખાઈને કહ્યું, “જે ઈશ્વરે મારો પ્રાણ વિપત્તિમાંથી બચાવ્યો તે જીવતા ઈશ્વરની હાજરીમાં કહું છું કે,
And the king vowed, saying, "As the LORD lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all adversity,
30 ૩૦ જેમ મેં તારી આગળ ઇઝરાયલના ઈશ્વર યહોવાહના સમ ખાઈને તેમની હાજરીમાં કહ્યું છે કે, ‘મારા પછી તારો દીકરો સુલેમાન રાજ કરશે અને તે મારી જગ્યાએ રાજ્યાસન પર બેસશે,’ તે પ્રમાણે હું આજે ચોક્કસ કરીશ.”
most certainly as I vowed to you by the LORD, the God of Israel, saying, 'Assuredly Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my place;' so I certainly will do this day."
31 ૩૧ પછી બાથશેબાએ રાજાની આગળ જમીન સુધી નીચે નમીને સાષ્ટાંગ દંડવત પ્રણામ કર્યા અને કહ્યું, “મારા માલિક દાઉદ રાજા સદા જીવતા રહો!”
Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the ground, paying homage to the king, and said, "Let my lord king David live forever."
32 ૩૨ દાઉદ રાજાએ કહ્યું, “સાદોક યાજકને, નાથાન પ્રબોધકને તથા યહોયાદાના દીકરા બનાયાને મારી પાસે બોલાવો.” તેથી તેઓ રાજાની સમક્ષ ઉપસ્થિત થયા.
And King David said, "Summon to me Zadok the cohen, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada." They came before the king.
33 ૩૩ રાજાએ તેઓને કહ્યું, “તમે તમારા માલિકના સેવકોને તમારી સાથે લઈને મારા દીકરા સુલેમાનને મારા પોતાના ખચ્ચર પર સવારી કરાવીને તેને ગિહોન લઈ જાઓ.
The king said to them, "Take with you the servants of your lord, and have Solomon my son ride on my own mule, and bring him down to Gihon.
34 ૩૪ ત્યાં સાદોક યાજક તથા નાથાન પ્રબોધક તેને ઇઝરાયલ પર રાજા તરીકે અભિષિક્ત કરે અને રણશિંગડું વગાડીને જાહેર કરજો કે, ‘સુલેમાન રાજા ઘણું જીવો!’”
And have Zadok the cohen and Nathan the prophet anoint him there king over Israel. Blow the trumpet, and say, 'Long live king Solomon.'
35 ૩૫ પછી તમે તેની પાછળ આવજો અને તે આવીને મારા રાજ્યાસન પર બેસશે; કેમ કે તે મારી જગ્યાએ રાજા થશે. મેં તેને ઇઝરાયલ પર તથા યહૂદિયા પર આગેવાન નીમ્યો છે.”
Then you shall come up after him, and he shall come and sit on my throne; for he shall be king in my place. I have appointed him to be prince over Israel and over Judah."
36 ૩૬ યહોયાદાના દીકરા બનાયાએ રાજાને જવાબ આપ્યો, “એમ જ થાઓ! મારા માલિક રાજાના ઈશ્વર યહોવાહ પણ એવું જ કહો.
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, "Amen. May the LORD, the God of my lord the king, say so.
37 ૩૭ જેમ યહોવાહ મારા માલિક રાજાની સાથે રહેતા આવ્યા છે, તેમ જ તે સુલેમાન સાથે પણ રહો અને મારા માલિક દાઉદ રાજાના રાજ્યાસન કરતાં તેનું રાજ્યાસન મોટું કરો.”
As the LORD has been with my lord the king, even so may he be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David."
38 ૩૮ તેથી સાદોક યાજક, નાથાન પ્રબોધક, યહોયાદાનો દીકરો બનાયા તથા કરેથીઓ અને પલેથીઓએ જઈને સુલેમાનને દાઉદ રાજાના ખચ્ચર પર સવારી કરાવીને તેને ગિહોન લઈ આવ્યા.
So Zadok the cohen, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride on king David's mule, and brought him to Gihon.
39 ૩૯ સાદોક યાજકે મંડપમાંથી તેલનું શિંગ લઈને સુલેમાનનો અભિષેક કર્યો. પછી તેઓએ રણશિંગડું વગાડ્યું અને સર્વ લોકો બોલી ઊઠ્યા, “સુલેમાન રાજા ઘણું જીવો!”
Zadok the cohen took the horn of oil out of the Tent, and anointed Solomon. They blew the trumpet; and all the people said, "Long live king Solomon."
40 ૪૦ પછી સર્વ લોકો તેની પાછળ ગયા અને વાંસળીઓ વગાડતા હતા. અને તેઓએ એવો આનંદ કર્યો કે તેઓના પોકારથી ભૂકંપ થયો.
All the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth split open at their sound.
41 ૪૧ અદોનિયા તથા તેની સાથેના સર્વ મહેમાનો ભોજન પૂરું કરી રહ્યા ત્યારે તેઓએ તે સાંભળ્યું. જયારે યોઆબે રણશિંગડાંનો અવાજ સાંભળ્યો, ત્યારે તેણે કહ્યું, “શહેરમાં આ ઘોંઘાટ શાનો છે?”
Adonijah and all the guests who were with him heard it as they had made an end of eating. When Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, "Why is this noise of the city being in an uproar?"
42 ૪૨ તે હજી બોલતો હતો, એટલામાં જ, અબ્યાથાર યાજકનો દીકરો યોનાથાન ત્યાં આવ્યો. અદોનિયાએ કહ્યું, “અંદર આવ, કેમ કે તું પ્રામાણિક માણસ છે અને સારા સમાચાર લાવ્યો હશે.”
While he yet spoke, look, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the cohen came: and Adonijah said, "Come in; for you are a worthy man, and bring good news."
Jonathan answered Adonijah, "No. Our lord king David has made Solomon king.
44 ૪૪ અને રાજાએ તેની સાથે સાદોક યાજકને, નાથાન પ્રબોધકને, યહોયાદાના દીકરા બનાયાને તથા કરેથીઓ અને પલેથીઓને મોકલ્યા છે. તેઓએ તેને રાજાના ખચ્ચર પર સવારી કરાવી છે.
The king has sent with him Zadok the cohen, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and they have caused him to ride on the king's mule.
45 ૪૫ સાદોક યાજકે તથા નાથાન પ્રબોધકે તેને ગિહોનમાં રાજા તરીકે અભિષેક કર્યો છે અને ત્યાંથી તેઓ એવી રીતે આનંદ કરતા પાછા આવ્યા કે તે નગર ગાજી રહ્યું છે. તમે જે જયપોકારો સાંભળ્યા છે તે એ જ છે.
Zadok the cohen and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon. They have come up from there rejoicing, so that the city rang again. This is the noise that you have heard.
Also, Solomon sits on the throne of the kingdom.
47 ૪૭ રાજાના સેવકોએ આપણા માલિક દાઉદ રાજાને આશીર્વાદ આપવા અંદર આવીને કહ્યું, ‘તમારા ઈશ્વર તમારા નામ કરતાં સુલેમાનનું નામ શ્રેષ્ઠ કરો અને તમારા રાજ્યાસન કરતાં તેમનું રાજ્યાસન ઉન્નત બનાવો.’ અને રાજાએ પોતાના પલંગ પર બેઠા થઈને પ્રણામ કર્યા.
Moreover the king's servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, 'May your God make the name of Solomon better than your name, and make his throne greater than your throne;' and the king bowed himself on the bed.
48 ૪૮ રાજાએ પણ કહ્યું, ‘ઇઝરાયલના ઈશ્વર યહોવાહ જેમણે આ દિવસે મારા જોતાં મારા રાજ્યાસન પર બેસનાર દીકરો મને આપ્યો છે, તેઓ પ્રશંસાને યોગ્ય છે.’”
Also thus said the king, 'Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who has given one to sit on my throne this day, my eyes even seeing it.'"
All the guests of Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and each man went his way.
Adonijah feared because of Solomon; and he arose, and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar.
51 ૫૧ પછી સુલેમાનને કહેવામાં આવ્યું, “જો, અદોનિયા સુલેમાન રાજાથી ગભરાય છે, કેમ કે તે વેદીનાં શિંગ પકડીને કહે છે, ‘સુલેમાન રાજા આજે ઈશ્વરની આગળ સમ ખાય કે તે તલવારથી પોતાના સેવકને મારી નાખશે નહિ.’”
It was told Solomon, saying, "Look, Adonijah fears king Solomon; for, look, he has laid hold on the horns of the altar, saying, 'Let king Solomon swear to me first that he will not kill his servant with the sword.'"
52 ૫૨ સુલેમાને કહ્યું, “જો તે યોગ્ય વર્તણૂક કરશે, તો તેનો એક પણ વાળ વાંકો કરવામાં આવશે નહિ. પણ જો તેનામાં દુષ્ટતા માલૂમ પડશે, તો તે માર્યો જશે.”
Solomon said, "If he shows himself a worthy man, not a hair of him shall fall to the earth; but if wickedness be found in him, he shall die."
53 ૫૩ તેથી સુલેમાન રાજાએ માણસો મોકલ્યા, તેઓ તેને વેદી પરથી ઉતારી લાવ્યા. તેણે આવીને સુલેમાન રાજાને નમીને પ્રણામ કર્યા અને સુલેમાને તેને કહ્યું, “તું તારે ઘરે જા.”
So king Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. He came and bowed down to king Solomon; and Solomon said to him, "Go to your house."
