Ἔξοδος 20

1 Και ελάλησεν ο Θεός πάντας τους λόγους τούτους, λέγων,

Then God spake all these wordes, saying,

2 Εγώ είμαι Κύριος ο Θεός σου, ο εξαγαγών σε εκ γης Αιγύπτου, εξ οίκου δουλείας.

I am the Lord thy God, which haue brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 Μη έχης άλλους θεούς πλην εμού.

Thou shalt haue none other Gods before me.

4 Μη κάμης εις σεαυτόν είδωλον, μηδέ ομοίωμά τινός, όσα είναι εν τω ουρανώ άνω, ή όσα εν τη γη κάτω, όσα εν τοις ύδασιν υποκάτω της γής·

Thou shalt make thee no grauen image, neither any similitude of things that are in heauen aboue, neither that are in the earth beneath, nor that are in the waters vnder the earth.

5 μη προσκυνήσης αυτά μηδέ λατρεύσης αυτά· διότι εγώ Κύριος ο Θεός σου είμαι Θεός ζηλότυπος, ανταποδίδων τας αμαρτίας των πατέρων επί τα τέκνα, έως τρίτης και τετάρτης γενεάς των μισούντων με·

Thou shalt not bowe downe to them, neither serue them: for I am the Lord thy God, a ielous God, visiting the iniquitie of the fathers vpon the children, vpon the third generation and vpon the fourth of them that hate me:

6 και κάμνων έλεος εις χιλιάδας γενεών των αγαπώντων με και φυλαττόντων τα προστάγματά μου.

And shewing mercie vnto thousandes to them that loue me, and keepe my commandemets.

7 Μη λάβης το όνομα Κυρίου του Θεού σου επί ματαίω· διότι δεν θέλει αθωώσει ο Κύριος τον λαμβάνοντα επί ματαίω το όνομα αυτού.

Thou shalt not take the Name of the Lord thy God in vaine: for the Lord will not hold him guiltles that taketh his Name in vayne.

8 Ενθυμού την ημέραν του σαββάτου, διά να αγιάζης αυτήν·

Remember the Sabbath day, to keepe it holy.

9 εξ ημέρας εργάζου και κάμνε πάντα τα έργα σου·

Sixe dayes shalt thou labour, and doe all thy worke,

10 η ημέρα όμως η εβδόμη είναι σάββατον Κυρίου του Θεού σου· μη κάμης εν ταύτη ουδέν έργον, μήτε συ, μήτε ο υιός σου, μήτε η θυγάτηρ σου, μήτε ο δούλός σου, μήτε η δούλη σου, μήτε το κτήνός σου, μήτε ο ξένος σου, ο εντός των πυλών σου·

But the seuenth day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any worke, thou, nor thy sonne, nor thy daughter, thy man seruant, nor thy mayde, nor thy beast, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates.

11 διότι εις εξ ημέρας εποίησεν ο Κύριος τον ουρανόν και την γην, την θάλασσαν και πάντα τα εν αυτοίς· εν δε τη ημέρα τη εβδόμη κατέπαυσε· διά τούτο ευλόγησε Κύριος την ημέραν του σαββάτου και ηγίασεν αυτήν.

For in sixe dayes the Lord made the heauen and the earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seuenth day: therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.

12 Τίμα τον πατέρα σου και την μητέρα σου, διά να γείνης μακροχρόνιος επί της γης, την οποίαν σοι δίδει Κύριος ο Θεός σου.

Honour thy father and thy mother, that thy dayes may be prolonged vpon the land, which the Lord thy God giueth thee.

13 Μη φονεύσης.

Thou shalt not kill.

14 Μη μοιχεύσης.

Thou shalt not commit adulterie.

15 Μη κλέψης.

Thou shalt not steale.

16 Μη ψευδομαρτυρήσης κατά του πλησίον σου μαρτυρίαν ψευδή.

Thou shalt not beare false witnes against thy neighbour.

17 Μη επιθυμήσης την οικίαν του πλησίον σου· μη επιθυμήσης την γυναίκα του πλησίον σου· μηδέ τον δούλον αυτού· μηδέ την δούλην αυτού, μηδέ τον βουν αυτού, μηδέ τον όνον αυτού, μηδέ παν ό, τι είναι του πλησίον σου.

Thou shalt not couet thy neighbours house, neither shalt thou couet thy neighbours wife, nor his man seruant, nor his mayde, nor his oxe, nor his asse, neyther any thing that is thy neighbours.

18 Και πας ο λαός έβλεπε τας βροντάς και τας αστραπάς και την φωνήν της σάλπιγγος και το όρος καπνίζον· και ότε ο λαός είδε ταύτα, απεσύρθησαν και εστάθησαν μακρόθεν.

And all the people sawe the thunders, and the lightnings, and the sound of the trumpet, and the mountaine smoking and when the people saw it they fled and stoode afare off,

19 Και είπον προς τον Μωϋσήν, συ λάλησον προς ημάς και θέλομεν ακούσει και ας μη λαλήση προς ημάς ο Θεός, διά να μη αποθάνωμεν.

And sayde vnto Moses, Talke thou with vs, and we will heare: but let not God talke with vs, lest we die.

20 Και είπεν ο Μωϋσής προς τον λαόν, Μη φοβείσθε· διότι ο Θεός ήλθε διά να σας δοκιμάση, και διά να ήναι ο φόβος αυτού έμπροσθέν σας διά να μη αμαρτάνητε.

Then Moses sayde vnto the people, Feare not: for God is come to proue you, and that his feare may be before you, that ye sinne not.

21 Και εστάθη ο λαός μακρόθεν· ο δε Μωϋσής επλησίασεν εις την ομίχλην όπου ήτο ο Θεός.

So the people stoode afarre off, but Moses drew neere vnto the darkenes where God was.

22 Είπε δε Κύριος προς τον Μωϋσήν, Ούτως ειπέ προς τους υιούς Ισραήλ· Σεις είδετε ότι εκ του ουρανού ελάλησα με σάς·

And the Lord sayde vnto Moses, Thus thou shalt say vnto the children of Israel, Ye haue seene that I haue talked with you from heauen.

23 μη κάμητε θεούς μετ' εμού αργυρούς· μηδέ κάμητε εις εαυτούς θεούς χρυσούς·

Ye shall not make therefore with me gods of siluer, nor gods of golde: you shall make you none.

24 θυσιαστήριον εκ γης κάμε εις εμέ· και θυσίαζε επ' αυτού τα ολοκαυτώματά σου και τας ειρηνικάς προσφοράς σου, τα πρόβατά σου και τους βόας σου· εν παντί τόπω όπου αναμνήσω το όνομά μου, θέλω έρχεσθαι προς σε και θέλω σε ευλογεί·

An altar of earth thou shalt make vnto me, and thereon shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheepe, and thine oxen: in all places, where I shall put the remembrance of my Name, I will come vnto thee, and blesse thee.

25 εάν δε εκ λίθων κάμης θυσιαστήριον εις εμέ, δεν θέλεις οικοδομήσει αυτό εκ πέτρας πελεκητής· διότι εάν περάσης επάνω αυτού το εργαλείόν σου, θέλεις μολύνει αυτό·

But if thou wilt make mee an altar of stone, thou shalt not buylde it of hewen stones: for if thou lift vp thy toole vpon them, thou hast polluted them.

26 και μη αναβής δι' αναβαθμίδων επί το θυσιαστήριόν μου, διά να μη αποκαλυφθή επ' αυτού η γυμνωσίς σου.

Neither shalt thou goe vp by steppes vnto mine altar, that thy filthines be not discouered thereon.
