Βασιλειῶν Δʹ 13

1 Εν τω εικοστώ τρίτω έτει του Ιωάς, υιού του Οχοζίου, βασιλέως του Ιούδα, εβασίλευσεν Ιωάχαζ, ο υιός του Ιηού, επί Ισραήλ εν Σαμαρεία, δεκαεπτά έτη.

In the three and twentieth yeere of Ioash the sonne of Ahaziah King of Iudah, Iehoahaz the sonne of Iehu began to reigne ouer Israel in Samaria, and he reigned seuenteene yeere.

2 Και έπραξε πονηρά ενώπιον του Κυρίου και ηκολούθησε τας αμαρτίας του Ιεροβοάμ υιού του Ναβάτ, όστις έκαμε τον Ισραήλ να αμαρτήση· δεν απεμακρύνθη απ' αυτών.

And he did euil in the sight of the Lord, and followed the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, which made Israel to sinne, and departed not therefrom.

3 Και εξήφθη η οργή του Κυρίου κατά του Ισραήλ, και παρέδωκεν αυτούς εις την χείρα του Αζαήλ βασιλέως της Συρίας και εις την χείρα του Βεν-αδάδ υιού του Αζαήλ, κατά πάσας τας ημέρας.

And the Lord was angry with Israel, and deliuered them into the hand of Hazael King of Aram, and into the hand of Ben-hadad the sonne of Hazael, all his dayes.

4 Και εδεήθη του Κυρίου ο Ιωάχαζ, και επήκουσεν αυτού ο Κύριος· διότι είδε την θλίψιν του Ισραήλ, ότι ο βασιλεύς της Συρίας κατέθλιβεν αυτούς.

And Iehoahaz besought the Lord, and the Lord heard him: for he saw the trouble of Israel, wherewith the King of Aram troubled them.

5 Και έδωκεν ο Κύριος εις τον Ισραήλ σωτήρα, και εξήλθον υποκάτωθεν της χειρός των Συρίων· και κατώκησαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ εν τοις σκηνώμασιν αυτών, ως το πρότερον.

(And the Lord gaue Israel a deliuerer, so that they came out from vnder the subiection of the Aramites. And the children of Israel dwelt in their tents as before time.

6 Πλην δεν απεμακρύνθησαν από των αμαρτιών του οίκου του Ιεροβοάμ, όστις έκαμε τον Ισραήλ να αμαρτήση· εις αυτάς περιεπάτησαν· και έτι διέμενε το άλσος εν Σαμαρεία.

Neuerthelesse they departed not from the sinnes of the house of Ieroboam which made Israel sinne, but walked in them. euen the groue also remayned still in Samaria)

7 Διότι δεν έμεινεν εις τον Ιωάχαζ λαός, ειμή πεντήκοντα ιππείς και δέκα άμαξαι και δέκα χιλιάδες πεζών· διότι κατέστρεψεν αυτούς ο βασιλεύς της Συρίας και κατέστησεν αυτούς ως το χώμα το καταπατούμενον.

For he had left of the people to Iehoahaz but fiftie horsemen, and tenne charets, and tenne thousand footemen, because the King of Aram had destroyed them, and made them like dust beaten to pouder.

8 Αι δε λοιπαί πράξεις του Ιωάχαζ και πάντα όσα έπραξε και τα κατορθώματα αυτού, δεν είναι γεγραμμένα εν τω βιβλίω των χρονικών των βασιλέων του Ισραήλ;

Concerning the rest of the actes of Iehoahaz and all that he did, and his valiant deedes, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

9 Και εκοιμήθη ο Ιωάχαζ μετά των πατέρων αυτού, και έθαψαν αυτόν εν Σαμαρεία· εβασίλευσε δε αντ' αυτού Ιωάς ο υιός αυτού.

And Iehoahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria, and Ioash his sonne reigned in his steade.

10 Εν τω τριακοστώ εβδόμω έτει του Ιωάς βασιλέως του Ιούδα, εβασίλευσεν Ιωάς ο υιός του Ιωάχαζ επί Ισραήλ εν Σαμαρεία, δεκαέξ έτη.

In the seuen and thirtieth yere of Ioash King of Iudah began Iehoash the sonne of Iehoahaz to reigne ouer Israel in Samaria, and reigned sixteene yeere,

11 Και έπραξε πονηρά ενώπιον του Κυρίου· δεν απεμακρύνθη από πασών των αμαρτιών του Ιεροβοάμ υιού του Ναβάτ, όστις έκαμε τον Ισραήλ να αμαρτήση· εις αυτάς περιεπάτησεν.

And did euil in the sight of the Lord: for he departed not from all the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat that made Israel to sinne, but he walked therein.

12 Αι δε λοιπαί πράξεις του Ιωάς και πάντα όσα έπραξε, τα κατορθώματα αυτού, πως επολέμησε κατά του Αμασίου βασιλέως του Ιούδα, δεν είναι γεγραμμένα εν τω βιβλίω των χρονικών των βασιλέων του Ισραήλ;

Concerning the rest of the actes of Ioash and all that he did, and his valiant deedes, and how he fought against Amaziah King of Iudah, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

13 Και εκοιμήθη ο Ιωάς μετά των πατέρων αυτού· εκάθησε δε επί του θρόνου αυτού ο Ιεροβοάμ· και ετάφη ο Ιωάς εν Σαμαρεία μετά των βασιλέων του Ισραήλ.

And Ioash slept with his fathers, and Ieroboam sate vpon his seate: and Ioash was buryed in Samaria among the Kings of Israel.

14 Ο δε Ελισσαιέ ηρρώστησε την αρρωστίαν αυτού υπό της οποίας απέθανε. Και κατέβη προς αυτόν Ιωάς ο βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ και έκλαυσεν επί τω προσώπω αυτού και είπε, Πάτερ μου, πάτερ μου, άμαξα του Ισραήλ και ιππικόν αυτού.

When Elisha fell sicke of his sickenesse whereof he dyed, Ioash the King of Israel came downe vnto him, and wept vpon his face, and sayd, O my father, my father, the charet of Israel, and the horsemen of the same.

15 Και είπε προς αυτόν ο Ελισσαιέ, Λάβε τόξον και βέλη. Και έλαβεν εις εαυτόν τόξον και βέλη.

Then Elisha sayde vnto him, Take a bowe and arrowes. And he tooke vnto him bowe and arrowes.

16 Και είπε προς τον βασιλέα του Ισραήλ, Επίθες την χείρα σου επί το τόξον. Και επέθηκε την χείρα αυτού· και επέθηκεν ο Ελισσαιέ τας χείρας αυτού επί τας χείρας του βασιλέως.

And he sayde to the King of Israel, Put thine hand vpon the bowe. And he put his hand vpon it. And Elisha put his hands vpon the Kings hands,

17 Και είπεν, Άνοιξον το παράθυρον κατά ανατολάς. Και ήνοιξε. Και είπεν ο Ελισσαιέ, Τόξευσον. Και ετόξευσε. Και είπε, το βέλος της σωτηρίας του Κυρίου και το βέλος της σωτηρίας εκ των Συρίων. Και θέλεις πατάξει τους Συρίους εν Αφέκ, εωσού συντελέσης αυτούς.

And saide, Open the windowe Eastward. And when he had opened it, Elisha said, Shoote. And he shot. And he sayd, Beholde the arrowe of the Lordes deliuerance and the arrowe of deliuerance against Aram: for thou shalt smite the Aramites in Aphek, till thou hast consumed them.

18 Και είπε, Λάβε τα βέλη. Και έλαβε. Και είπε προς τον βασιλέα του Ισραήλ, Πάταξον επί την γην. Και επάταξε τρίς και εστάθη.

Againe he said, Take the arrowes. And he tooke them. And he sayde vnto the King of Israel, Smite the ground. And he smote thrise, and ceased.

19 Και ωργίσθη εις αυτόν ο άνθρωπος του Θεού και είπεν, Έπρεπε να πατάξης πεντάκις ή εξάκις· τότε ήθελες πατάξει τους Συρίους εωσού συντελέσης αυτούς· τώρα όμως τρίς θέλεις πατάξει τους Συρίους.

Then the man of God was angry with him, and sayde, Thou shouldest haue smitten fiue or sixe times, so thou shouldest haue smitten Aram, till thou haddest consumed it, where nowe thou shalt smite Aram but thrise.

20 Και απέθανεν ο Ελισσαιέ, και έθαψαν αυτόν· το δε ακόλουθον έτος τάγματα Μωαβιτών έκαμον εισβολήν εις την γην.

So Elisha dyed, and they buryed him. And certaine bandes of the Moabites came into the land that yeere.

21 Και ενώ έθαπτον άνθρωπον τινά, ιδού, είδον τάγμα· και έρριψαν τον άνθρωπον εις τον τάφον του Ελισσαιέ· και καθώς ο άνθρωπος υπήγε και ήγγισε τα οστά του Ελισσαιέ, ανέζησε και εστάθη επί τους πόδας αυτού.

And as they were burying a man, behold, they saw the souldiers: therfore they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha. And when the man was downe, and touched the bones of Elisha, he reuiued and stoode vpon his feete.

22 Ο δε Αζαήλ ο βασιλεύς της Συρίας, κατέθλιψε τον Ισραήλ πάσας τας ημέρας του Ιωάχαζ.

But Hazael King of Aram vexed Israel all the dayes of Iehoahaz.

23 Και ηλέησεν ο Κύριος αυτούς και ωκτείρησεν αυτούς και επέβλεψεν επ' αυτούς, διά την διαθήκην αυτού την μετά του Αβραάμ, Ισαάκ, και Ιακώβ· και δεν ηθέλησε να εξολοθρεύση αυτούς και δεν απέρριψεν αυτούς από προσώπου αυτού, μέχρι του νυν.

Therefore the Lord had mercy on them and pitied them, and had respect vnto them because of his couenant with Abraham, Izhak, and Iaakob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from him as yet.

24 Απέθανε δε ο Αζαήλ βασιλεύς της Συρίας, και εβασίλευσεν αντ' αυτού Βεν-αδάδ ο υιός αυτού.

So Hazael the King of Aram dyed: and Ben-hadad his sonne reigned in his stead.

25 Και έλαβε πάλιν Ιωάς ο υιός του Ιωάχαζ εκ της χειρός του Βεν-αδάδ υιού του Αζαήλ τας πόλεις, τας οποίας ο Αζαήλ είχε λάβει εκ της χειρός Ιωάχαζ του πατρός αυτού εν τω πολέμω. Τρίς επάταξεν αυτόν ο Ιωάς και επανέλαβε τας πόλεις του Ισραήλ.

Therefore Iehoash the sonne of Iehoahaz returned, and tooke out of the hand of Ben-hadad the sonne of Hazael the cities which he had taken away by warre out of the hand of Iehoahaz his father: for three times did Ioash beate him, and restored the cities vnto Israel.
