Βασιλειῶν Αʹ 1
1 Ήτο δε άνθρωπός τις εκ Ραμαθαΐμ-σοφίμ, εκ του όρους Εφραΐμ, και το όνομα αυτού Ελκανά, υιός του Ιεροάμ, υιού Ελιού, υιού Θοού, υιού Σούφ, Εφραθαίος.
Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim-zophim, of the hill country of Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite:
2 Και είχεν ούτος δύο γυναίκας· το όνομα της μιας Άννα, και το όνομα της δευτέρας Φενίννα· η μεν Φενίννα είχε τέκνα, η δε Άννα δεν είχε τέκνα.
and he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.
3 Ανέβαινε δε ο άνθρωπος ούτος εκ της πόλεως αυτού κατ' έτος, διά να προσκυνήση και να προσφέρη θυσίαν προς τον Κύριον των δυνάμεων εν Σηλώ. Και ήσαν εκεί οι δύο υιοί του Ηλεί, Οφνεί και Φινεές, ιερείς του Κυρίου.
And this man went up out of his city from year to year to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, priests unto the LORD, were there.
4 Έφθασε δε η ημέρα, καθ' ην εθυσίασεν ο Ελκανά και έδωκε μερίδας εις την Φενίνναν την γυναίκα αυτού και εις πάντας τους υιούς αυτής και τας θυγατέρας αυτής.
And when the day came that Elkanah sacrificed, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters portions:
5 εις δε την Άνναν έδωκε διπλασίαν μερίδα· διότι ηγάπα την Ανναν· αλλ' ο Κύριος είχε κλείσει την μήτραν αυτής.
but unto Hannah he gave a double portion: for he loved Hannah, but the LORD had shut up her womb.
6 Και η αντίζηλος αυτής παρώξυνεν αυτήν σφόδρα, ώστε να κάμνη αυτήν να αδημονή, ότι ο Κύριος είχε κλείσει την μήτραν αυτής.
And her rival provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb.
7 Και ούτως έκαμνε κατ' έτος· οσάκις ανέβαινεν εις τον οίκον του Κυρίου, ούτω παρώξυνεν αυτήν· και εκείνη έκλαιε και δεν έτρωγεν.
And [as] he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.
8 Είπε δε προς αυτήν Ελκανά ο ανήρ αυτής, Άννα, διά τι κλαίεις; και διά τι δεν τρώγεις; και διά τι η καρδία σου είναι τεθλιμμένη; δεν είμαι εγώ εις σε καλήτερος παρά δέκα υιούς;
And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?
9 Και εσηκώθη η Άννα, αφού έφαγον εν Σηλώ και αφού έπιον· ο δε Ηλεί ο ιερεύς εκάθητο επί καθέδρας, πλησίον του παραστάτου της πύλης του ναού του Κυρίου.
So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon his seat by the door post of the temple of the LORD.
10 Και αυτή ήτο καταπικραμένη την ψυχήν και προσηύχετο εις τον Κύριον, κλαίουσα καθ' υπερβολήν.
And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.
11 Και ηυχήθη ευχήν, λέγουσα, Κύριε των δυνάμεων, εάν επιβλέψης τωόντι εις την ταπείνωσιν της δούλης σου και με ενθυμηθής και δεν λησμονήσης την δούλην σου, αλλά δώσης εις την δούλην σου τέκνον αρσενικόν, τότε θέλω δώσει αυτό εις τον Κύριον πάσας τας ημέρας της ζωής αυτού, και ξυράφιον δεν θέλει αναβή επί την κεφαλήν αυτού.
And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.
12 Ενώ δε αυτή εξηκολούθει προσευχομένη ενώπιον του Κυρίου, ο Ηλεί παρετήρει το στόμα αυτής.
And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth.
13 Πλην η Άννα αυτή ελάλει εν τη καρδία αυτής· μόνον τα χείλη αυτής εκινούντο, αλλ' η φωνή αυτής δεν ηκούετο· όθεν ο Ηλεί ενόμισεν ότι ήτο μεθυσμένη.
Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.
14 Και είπε προς αυτήν ο Ηλεί, Έως πότε θέλεις είσθαι μεθύουσα; απόβαλε τον οίνόν σου από σου.
And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.
15 Και απεκρίθη η Άννα και είπεν, Ουχί, κύριέ μου, εγώ είμαι γυνή κατατεθλιμμένη την ψυχήν· ούτε οίνον ούτε σίκερα δεν έπιον, αλλ' εξέχεα την ψυχήν μου ενώπιον του Κυρίου·
And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but I poured out my soul before the LORD.
16 μη υπολάβης την δούλην σου ως αχρείαν γυναίκα· διότι εκ του πλήθους του πόνου μου και της θλίψεώς μου ελάλησα έως τώρα.
Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and my provocation have I spoken hitherto.
17 Τότε απεκρίθη ο Ηλεί και είπεν, Ύπαγε εις ειρήνην· και ο Θεός του Ισραήλ ας σοι δώση την αίτησίν σου, την οποίαν ήτησας παρ' αυτού.
Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thy petition that thou hast asked of him.
18 Η δε είπεν, Είθε η δούλη σου να εύρη χάριν εις τους οφθαλμούς σου. Τότε απήλθεν η γυνή εις την οδόν αυτής και έφαγε, και το πρόσωπον αυτής δεν ήτο πλέον σκυθρωπόν.
And she said, Let thy servant find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more [sad].
19 Και το πρωΐ εσηκώθησαν ενωρίς, και προσκυνήσαντες ενώπιον του Κυρίου, επέστρεψαν και ήλθον εις την οικίαν αυτών εις Ραμάθ. Και ο Ελκανά εγνώρισεν Άνναν την γυναίκα αυτού· και ο Κύριος ενεθυμήθη αυτήν.
And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her.
20 Και ότε επληρώθησαν αι ημέραι αφότου η Άννα συνέλαβεν, εγέννησεν υιόν και εκάλεσε το όνομα αυτού Σαμουήλ, Διότι παρά Κυρίου ήτησα αυτόν, είπε.
And it came to pass, when the time was come about, that Hannah conceived, and bare a son; and she called his name Samuel, [saying], Because I have asked him of the LORD.
21 Και ανέβη ο άνθρωπος Ελκανά και πας ο οίκος αυτού, διά να προσφέρη προς τον Κύριον την ετήσιον θυσίαν και την ευχήν αυτού.
And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer unto the LORD the yearly sacrifice, and his vow.
22 Αλλ' η Άννα δεν ανέβη· διότι είπε προς τον άνδρα αυτής, Δεν θέλω αναβή εωσού το παιδίον απογαλακτισθή· και τότε θέλω φέρει αυτό, διά να εμφανισθή ενώπιον του Κυρίου και εκεί να κατοική διαπαντός.
But Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, [I will not go up] until the child be weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and there abide for ever.
23 Και είπε προς αυτήν Ελκανά ο ανήρ αυτής, Κάμε ό, τι σοι φαίνεται καλόν· κάθου εωσού απογαλακτίσης αυτό· μόνον ο Κύριος να εκπληρώση τον λόγον αυτού. Και εκάθισεν η γυνή και εθήλαζε τον υιόν αυτής, εωσού απεγαλάκτισεν αυτόν.
And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Do what seemeth thee good; tarry until thou have weaned him; only the LORD establish his word. So the woman tarried and gave her son suck, until she weaned him.
24 Και αφού απεγαλάκτισεν αυτόν, ανεβίβασεν αυτόν μεθ' εαυτής, μετά τριών μόσχων και ενός εφά αλεύρου και ασκού οίνου, και έφερεν αυτόν εις τον οίκον του Κυρίου εν Σηλώ· το δε παιδίον ήτο μικρόν.
And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of meal, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh: and the child was young.
25 Και έσφαξαν τον μόσχον και έφεραν το παιδίον προς τον Ηλεί.
And they slew the bullock, and brought the child to Eli.
26 Και είπεν η Άννα, Ω, κύριέ μου ζη η ψυχή σου, κύριέ μου, εγώ είμαι η γυνή, ήτις εστάθη ενταύθα πλησίον σου, δεομένη του Κυρίου·
And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD.
27 περί του παιδίου τούτου εδεόμην· και ο Κύριος έδωκεν εις εμέ την αίτησίν μου, την οποίαν ήτησα παρ' αυτού·
For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him:
28 όθεν και εγώ εδάνεισα αυτό εις τον Κύριον· πάσας τας ημέρας της ζωής αυτού θέλει είσθαι δανεισμένον εις τον Κύριον. Και προσεκύνησεν εκεί τον Κύριον.
wherefore I also have granted him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he is granted to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.
