Yohaannisa 3
1 Farisaaweta yaraappe gidida, Ayhudeta halaqay, Niqodimoosa giya issi addey de7ees.
And there was a man of the Pharisees, his name Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews;
2 Niqodimoosi qamma Yesuusakko yidi, “Asttamaariyaw, neeni Xoossay kiittida asttamaare gideyssa nuuni eroos. Ays giikko, Xoossay iyara doonna ixxiko ha neeni oothiya malaata oothanaw dandda7iya asi baawa” yaagis.
this one came to Him by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we have known that You have come from God—a teacher, for no one is able to do these signs that You do, if God may not be with him.”
3 Yesuusi zaaridi, “Taani new tuma odays; oonikka zaari yelettonna ixxiko Xoossaa kawotethaa be7anaw dandda7enna” yaagis.
Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone may not be born from above, he is not able to see the Kingdom of God”;
4 Niqodimoosi, “Ceega asi waanidi zaari yelettanaw dandda7ii? Ba aaye ulo simmi gelidi zaari yelettanaw dandda7ii?” yaagis.
Nicodemus says to Him, “How is a man able to be born, being old? Is he able to enter into the womb of his mother a second time, and to be born?”
5 Yesuusi zaaridi, “Taani new tuma odays; oonikka haathafenne Geeshsha Ayyaanaappe yelettonna attiko, Xoossaa kawotethaa gelanaw dandda7enna.
Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone may not be born of water and the Spirit, he is not able to enter into the Kingdom of God;
6 Asho na7atethi aawuppenne aayippe yees; Xoossaa na7atethi Geeshsha Ayyaanaappe imettees.
that which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Taani, ‘Hintte zaari yelettanaw bessees’ gada hinttew odida gisho neeni malaalettof.
You may not wonder that I said to you, It is required for you to be born from above;
8 Carkkoy ba koyida bessi carkkees. Neeni iya kooshinchcha si7asappe attin I awuppe yaakko woykko aw biyakko erakka. Ayyaanaappe yelettida ubbay hessa mela” yaagis.
the Spirit blows where [that] One wills, and you hear [that] One’s voice, but you have not known from where [that] One comes, and to where [that] One goes; thus is everyone who has been born of the Spirit.”
9 Yaatin Niqodimoosi, “Hessi waanidi hananaw dandda7ii?” yaagidi oychchis.
Nicodemus answered and said to Him, “How are these things able to happen?”
10 Yesuusi zaaridi, “Neeni Isra7eelata asttamaare gidashe hayssa erikkii?
Jesus answered and said to him, “You are the teacher of Israel and you do not know these things?
11 Taani new tuma odays; nu ereyssa odoosinne be7idabaa markkattoos, shin nu markkatethaa hintte ekkeketa.
Truly, truly, I say to you, what We have known We speak, and what We have seen We testify, and you do not receive Our testimony;
12 Taani hinttew sa7abaa odin hintte ammanonnabaa gidikko salobaa odin waati ammananee?
if I spoke to you of the earthly things, and you do not believe, how, if I will speak to you of the heavenly things, will you believe?
13 Saloppe wodhdhida Asa Na7aappe attin salo keyiday oonikka baawa; [salon de7iya Asa Na7ay tana]” yaagis.
And no one has gone up to Heaven, except He who came down out of Heaven—the Son of Man who is in Heaven.
14 Musey bazzo biittan biraata shooshi kaqqidayssada tana ammanida
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so it is necessary for the Son of Man to be lifted up,
that everyone who is believing in Him may not perish, but may have continuous life, (aiōnios g166)
16 Xoossaa Na7aa ammaniyaa ubbay merinaa de7uwa laattanaappe attin dhayonna mela Xoossay ha alamiya daro dosida gisho ba issi Na7aa immis. (aiōnios g166)
for God so loved the world that He gave the only begotten Son, that everyone who is believing in Him may not perish, but may have continuous life. (aiōnios g166)
17 Xoossay ba Na7aa ha alamiya kiittiday alamiya pirddanaw gidonnashin alamiya iya baggara ashshanaassa.
For God did not send His Son into the world that He may judge the world, but that the world may be saved through Him;
18 Na7aa ammaniyaa oonikka pirddettenna, shin Na7aa ammanonna oonikka issi Xoossaa Na7aa ammaniboonna gisho ha77i pirddettis.
he who is believing in Him is not judged, but he who is not believing has been judged already, because he has not believed in the Name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 Pirddayka hayssa: poo7oy alamiya yis, shin asaa oosoy iita gidiya gisho asay poo7uwappe aathidi dhumaa dosees.
And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light, for their works were evil;
20 Iitabaa oothiya oonikka poo7o ixxees. Ays giikko, ba oosoy qoncconna mela poo7uwakko yeenna.
for everyone who is doing wicked things hates the light, and does not come into the light, that his works may not be detected;
21 Shin tuma oothiya oonikka Xoossay kiittidayssada I oothidayssa poo7oy qonccisana mela poo7uwakko yees.
but he who is doing the truth comes into the light, that his works may be revealed, that in God they are having been worked.”
22 Hessafe guye, Yesuusinne iya tamaareti Yihuda biitta bidosona. Yesuusi yan xammaqishe enttara guutha wode uttis.
After these things Jesus and His disciples came into the land of Judea, and there He tarried with them, and was immersing;
23 Qassi Yohaannisi Saleeme matan de7iya Henoona giyason gidiya haathi de7iya gisho asaa yan xammaqees. Asaykka yaa bidi xammaqettosona.
and John was also immersing in Aenon, near to Salem, because there were many waters there, and they were coming and were being immersed—
24 He wode Yohaannisi buroo qashettibeenna.
for John was not yet cast into the prison—
25 Hessafe guye, Yohaannisa tamaaretinne issi Ayhude addey geesho wogabaa palamidosona.
there arose then a question from the disciples of John with [some] Jews about purifying,
26 Entti Yohaannisakko bidi, “Asttamaariyaw, Yorddaanose Shaafappe hefinthan neera de7eyssi, neeni iyabaa markkattidayssi, hekko xammaqees. Asay ubbayka iyaakko boosona” yaagidosona.
and they came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you testified, behold, this One is immersing, and all are coming to Him.”
27 Yohaannisi zaaridi, “Xoossay immonna asi aybibaakka ekkanaw dandda7enna.
John answered and said, “A man is not able to receive anything if it may not have been given him from Heaven;
28 ‘Taani Kiristtoosa gidikke, shin iyappe sinthe kiitetas’ gidayssas taw hinttee, hintte huu7en markka.
you yourselves testify to me that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am having been sent before Him;
29 Gelos giigidaara ekkenaw giigidayssassa. Ekkeyssa laggey iya matan eqqidi I geyssa si7iya wode daro ufayttees. Hessa gisho, hayssi ta ufayssay polettis.
He who is having the bride is bridegroom, and the friend of the bridegroom, who is standing and hearing Him, rejoices with joy because of the voice of the bridegroom; this, then, my joy has been fulfilled.
30 I gitatanaw taani guuxanaw bessees” yaagis.
It is necessary [for] Him to increase, and me to become less;
31 Bollafe yeyssi ubbaafe bolla. Sa7appe benttidayssi sa7abaa. I sa7abaa odees. Saloppe yeyssi ubbaafe bolla.
He who is coming from above is above all; he who is from the earth, from the earth he is, and from the earth he speaks; He who is coming from Heaven is above all.
32 I ba be7idabaanne si7idabaa markkattees, shin iya markkatethaa ekkey baawa.
And what He has seen and heard—this He testifies, and none receives His testimony;
33 Iya markkatethaa ekkiya oonikka Xoossay tuma gideyssa qonccisees.
he who is receiving His testimony sealed that God is true;
34 Xoossay ba geeshsha Ayyaana iyaw kumethi immiya gisho Xoossay kiittidayssi Xoossaa qaala odees.
for He whom God sent, He speaks the sayings of God; for God does not give the Spirit by measure;
35 Aaway ba Na7aa dosidi ubbabaa iya kushen wothis.
the Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand;
36 Na7aa ammaniyaa uraas merinaa de7oy de7ees. Shin Na7aa ammanonnayssa bolla Xoossaa hanqoy de7eesippe attin I de7o demmenna. (aiōnios g166)
he who is believing in the Son has continuous life; and he who is not believing the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” (aiōnios g166)
