Psalm 55
1 Dem Sangmeister für Saitenspiele. Eine Unterweisung Davids. Nimm zu Ohren, o Gott, mein Gebet, und verbirg Dich nicht vor meinem Flehen.
To the chief Musician on Neginoth, Maschil, [A Psalm] of David. Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.
2 Horche auf mich und antworte mir. In meinem Sinnen irre ich umher und stöhne,
Attend to me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;
3 Ob der Stimme meines Feindes, ob dem Zwängen des Ungerechten, denn sie erregen Unrecht über mich und grollen mir im Zorne.
Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.
4 Mein Herz kreißet in mir; und Schrecken des Todes fallen über mich.
My heart is severely pained within me: and the terrors of death have fallen upon me.
5 Furcht und Beben kommen über mich, und Grausen hat mich bedeckt.
Fearfulness and trembling have come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.
6 Und ich spreche: Wer gibt mir Fittiche wie der Taube, ich flöge hin, wo ich wohnete.
And I said, O that I had wings like a dove! [for then] I would fly away, and be at rest.
7 Siehe, ferne würde ich entfliehen, in der Wüste würde ich übernachten. (Selah)
Lo, [then] I would wander far off, [and] remain in the wilderness. (Selah)
8 Schleunigst würde ich entkommen vom Sturme des Windes, vom Wetter.
I would hasten my escape from the windy storm [and] tempest.
9 Verschlinge, Herr, zerteile ihre Zunge; denn ich sehe Gewalttat und Hader in der Stadt.
Destroy, O LORD, [and] divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.
10 Sie gehen bei Tag und bei Nacht in ihr umher, auf ihren Mauern, und Unrecht und Mühsal ist in ihrer Mitte.
Day and night they go about it upon its walls: mischief also and sorrow [are] in the midst of it.
11 Unheil ist in ihrer Mitte, und nicht weicht von ihrer Straße Hinterlist und Trug.
Wickedness [is] in the midst of it: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.
12 Denn nicht ein Feind schmäht mich, das ertrüge ich; nicht der mich haßte, macht sich groß über mich, ich könnte mich vor ihm verbergen.
For [it was] not an enemy [that] reproached me; then I could have borne [it]: neither [was it] he that hated me [that] magnified [himself] against me; then I would have hid myself from him:
13 Du aber bist es, ein Mensch wie meinesgleichen, mein Leiter und mein Bekannter;
But [it was] thou, a man my equal, my guide, and my acquaintance.
14 Die wir zusammen süße, heimliche Beratung pflogen und im Zuge zum Gotteshause wallten.
We took sweet counsel together, [and] walked to the house of God in company.
15 Tod über sie! Laß sie lebendig in die Hölle hinabfahren; denn Böses ist in ihrem Aufenthalt, in ihrer Mitte. (Sheol h7585)
Let death seize upon them, [and] let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness [is] in their dwellings, [and] among them. (Sheol h7585)
16 Ich rufe zu Gott, und Jehovah wird mich retten.
As for me, I will call upon God: and the LORD will save me.
17 Des Abends, des Morgens und des Mittags will ich klagen und jammern, und Er wird meine Stimme hören.
Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he will hear my voice.
18 Er löst meine Seele ein im Frieden, daß sie mir nicht nahen; denn viele waren ihrer bei mir.
He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle [that was] against me: for there were many with me.
19 Gott wird es hören und sie demütigen, Der von Alters her sitzet, (Selah) weil bei ihnen kein Wechsel ist, und sie Gott nicht fürchten.
God will hear and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. (Selah) Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.
20 Er hat seine Hände ausgestreckt wider die so friedlich mit ihm waren, hat seinen Bund entweiht.
He hath put forth his hands against such as are at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant.
21 Sie machen glatt wie Butter seinen Mund, und es nähert sich sein Herz. Weicher denn Öl sind seine Worte, und sind gezückte Schwerter.
[The words] of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war [was] in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet [were] they drawn swords.
22 Wirf dein Anliegen auf Jehovah, und Er wird für dich sorgen, und den Gerechten nicht wanken lassen in Ewigkeit.
Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he will sustain thee: he will never suffer the righteous to be moved.
23 Aber Du, Gott, wirst sie in den Brunnen des Grabens hinabbringen. Die Männer des Bluts und des Trugs werden ihre Tage nicht zur Hälfte bringen. Ich aber vertraue auf Dich.
But thou, O God, wilt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.
