Psalm 48

1 Ein Lied, ein Psalm für die Söhne Korachs. Groß ist Jehovah, und sehr zu loben in unseres Gottes Stadt, auf dem Berge Seiner Heiligkeit.

A song or Psalme committed to the sonnes of Korah. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praysed, in the Citie of our God, euen vpon his holy Mountaine.

2 Schön erstreckt sich der ganzen Erde Freude, der Berg Zion von den Seiten der Mitternacht, die Stadt des großen Königs.

Mount Zion, lying Northwarde, is faire in situation: it is the ioy of the whole earth, and the Citie of the great King.

3 Gott ist in ihren Palästen bekannt als Burg.

In the palaces thereof God is knowen for a refuge.

4 Denn siehe, die Könige taten sich zusammen, sie gingen allesamt vorüber.

For lo, the Kings were gathered, and went together.

5 Sie sahen, so staunten sie, sie waren bestürzt, sie enteilten.

When they sawe it, they marueiled: they were astonied, and suddenly driuen backe.

6 Beben ergriff sie da, ein Kreißen wie die Gebärerin.

Feare came there vpon them, and sorowe, as vpon a woman in trauaile.

7 Durch den Ostwind zerbrichst Du die Schiffe von Tharschisch.

As with an East winde thou breakest the shippes of Tarshish, so were they destroyed.

8 Wie wir es gehört hatten, so sahen wir es in der Stadt Jehovahs der Heerscharen, in unseres Gottes Stadt; Gott festigt sie ewiglich. (Selah)

As we haue heard, so haue we seene in the citie of the Lord of hostes, in the Citie of our God: God will stablish it for euer. (Selah)

9 Gott, wir bedenken Deine Barmherzigkeit inmitten Deines Tempels.

We waite for thy louing kindnes, O God, in the middes of thy Temple.

10 Wie Dein Name, o Gott, so ist Dein Lob bis an die Enden der Erde. Voller Gerechtigkeit ist Deine Rechte.

O God, according vnto thy Name, so is thy prayse vnto the worlds end: thy right hand is full of righteousnes.

11 Es sei fröhlich der Berg Zion, frohlocken sollen Judahs Töchter um Deiner Gerichte willen.

Let mount Zion reioyce, and the daughters of Iudah be glad, because of thy iudgements.

12 Ziehet um Zion, umringet es, zählt seine Türme.

Compasse about Zion, and goe round about it, and tell the towres thereof.

13 Und richtet euer Herz auf seine Vormauer, durchforscht seine Paläste, daß ihr es einem späteren Geschlechte erzählt,

Marke well the wall thereof: beholde her towres, that ye may tell your posteritie.

14 Daß dieser Gott ist unser Gott ewig und immerfort, Er geleitet uns bis zum Tode.

For this God is our God for euer and euer: he shall be our guide vnto the death.
