Psalm 107
1 Bekennet Jehovah; denn Er ist gut, denn Seine Barmherzigkeit ist ewig,
Alleluia. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his mercy [endures] for ever.
2 Sprechen die Erlösten Jehovahs, die Er aus des Drängers Hand erlöst hat,
Let them say [so] who have been redeemed by the Lord, whom he has redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
3 Und sie zusammen hat gebracht aus den Ländern vom Aufgang und vom Abend, von Mitternacht und vom Meere.
and gathered them out of the countries, from the east, and west, and north, and south.
4 Sie irrten in der Wüste, im Wüstenland, des Weges, sie fanden keine Stadt, um darinnen zu wohnen;
They wandered in the wilderness in a dry land; they found no way to a city of habitation.
5 Hungernd, auch dürstend, ihre Seele verzagte in ihnen.
Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
6 Und sie schrien zu Jehovah in ihrer Drangsal, aus ihren Ängsten rettete Er sie.
Then they cried to the Lord in their affliction, and he delivered them out of their distresses.
7 Und ließ sie den geraden Weg gehen, daß sie zur Stadt gingen, um darinnen zu wohnen.
And he guided them into a straight path, that they might go to a city of habitation.
8 Sie sollen Jehovah bekennen ob Seiner Barmherzigkeit, und ob Seiner Wunder an den Söhnen des Menschen.
Let them acknowledge to the Lord his mercies, and his wonderful works to the children of men.
9 Daß Er sättigt die lechzende Seele, und die hungernde Seele mit Gutem erfüllt.
For he satisfies the empty soul, and fills the hungry [soul] with good things,
10 Die, so in Finsternis und Todesschatten saßen, im Elend und in Eisen gebunden,
[even] them that sit in darkness and the shadow of death, fettered in poverty and iron;
11 Weil Gottes Reden sie sich widersetzt, und den Rat des Höchsten gelästert hatten,
because they rebelled against the words of God, and provoked the counsel of the Most High.
12 Und Er beugte ihr Herz durch Mühsal. Sie strauchelten, und niemand stand ihnen bei.
So their heart was brought low with troubles; they were weak, and there was no helper.
13 Und sie schrien zu Jehovah in ihrer Drangsal, und Er rettete sie aus ihren Ängsten,
Then they cried to the Lord in their affliction, and he saved them out of their distresses.
14 Und brachte sie heraus aus Finsternis und Todesschatten, und riß ab ihre Bande.
And he brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bonds asunder.
15 Sie sollen Jehovah bekennen ob Seiner Barmherzigkeit, und ob Seiner Wunder an den Söhnen des Menschen.
Let them acknowledge to the Lord his mercies, and his wonders to the children of men.
16 Daß Er eherne Türen brach und eiserne Riegel zerhieb.
For he broke to pieces the brazen gates, and crushed the iron bars.
17 Die Törichten, ob dem Wege ihrer Übertretung und ob ihren Missetaten wurden sie gedemütigt.
He helped them out of the way of their iniquity; for they were brought low because of their iniquities.
18 Daß ihrer Seele vor aller Speise graute, und sie die Tore des Todes berührten.
Their soul abhorred all meat; and they drew near to the gates of death.
19 Und sie schrien zu Jehovah in ihrer Drangsal, aus ihren Ängsten rettete Er sie.
Then they cried to the Lord in their affliction, and he saved them out of their distresses.
20 Er sandte Sein Wort und heilte sie, und ließ sie entrinnen aus ihren Gruben.
He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them out of their destructions.
21 Sie sollen Jehovah bekennen ob Seiner Barmherzigkeit und ob Seiner Wunder an den Söhnen des Menschen.
Let them acknowledge to the Lord his mercies, and his wonderful works to the children of men.
22 Und sie sollen Opfer des Dankes opfern, und erzählen Seine Taten mit Lobpreisung.
And let them offer to him the sacrifice of praise, and proclaim this works with exultation.
23 Die hinabsteigen auf das Meer in Schiffen, die Geschäft tun auf vielen Wassern;
They that go down to the sea in ships, doing business in many waters;
24 Sie sehen Jehovahs Taten, und Seine Wunder in dem Schlunde.
these [men] have seen the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep.
25 Er spricht und läßt erstehen des Sturmes Wind, der seine Wogen emporhebt;
He speaks, and the stormy wind arises, and its waves are lifted up.
26 Sie steigen hinauf zum Himmel, sie fahren hinab in Abgründe, ihre Seele zerfließt vor Bösem.
They go up to the heavens, and go down to the depths; their soul melts because of troubles.
27 Sie taumeln und schwanken wie ein Trunkener, und all ihre Weisheit ist verschlungen.
They are troubled, they stagger as a drunkard, and all their wisdom is swallowed up.
28 Und sie schreien zu Jehovah in ihrer Drangsal, und aus ihren Ängsten bringt Er sie heraus.
Then they cry to the Lord in their affliction, and he brings them out of their distresses.
29 Er läßt zur Stille erstehen den Sturm, und ihre Wogen schweigen.
And he commands the storm, and it is calmed into a gentle breeze, and its waves are still.
30 Und sie sind fröhlich, daß sie zur Ruhe kommen, und Er führt sie zum Hafen ihrer Lust.
And they are glad, because they are quiet; and he guides them to their desire haven.
31 Sie sollen Jehovah bekennen ob Seiner Barmherzigkeit und ob Seiner Wunder an des Menschen Söhnen.
Let them acknowledge to the Lord his mercies, and his wonderful works to the children of men.
32 Und sie sollen Ihn erhöhen in der Versammlung des Volkes, und Ihn loben auf dem Sitze der Alten.
Let them exalt him in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the seat of the elders.
33 Flüsse setzt Er zur Wüste, die Ausflüsse des Wassers zum Durstland.
He turns rivers into a desert, and streams of water into a dry land;
34 Ein fruchtbar Land zum Salzgrund, ob der Bosheit derer, die darin wohnen.
a fruitful land into saltness, for the wickedness of them that dwell in it.
35 Die Wüste setzt Er zum Teich der Wasser, und dürres Land zu Ausflüssen der Wasser.
He turns a wilderness into pools of water, and a dry land into streams of water.
36 Und läßt Hungrige dort wohnen, daß eine Stadt sie bereiten zum Wohnen.
And there he causes the hungry to dwell, and they establish for themselves cities of habitation.
37 Und daß Felder sie besäen, und Weinberge pflanzen und machen des Ertrages Frucht.
And they sow fields, and plant vineyards, and they yield fruit of increase.
38 Und Er segnet sie, daß sie sich sehr mehren, und macht ihres Viehs nicht wenig.
And he blesses them, and they multiply exceedingly, and he diminishes not the number of their cattle.
39 Und ihrer waren wenig und sie beugten sich ob des Zwanges von Übel und Gram.
Again they become few, and are brought low, by the pressure of evils and pain.
40 Er goß Verachtung auf die Edlen und ließ sie irren in der Öde ohne Weg.
Contempt is poured upon their princes, and he causes them to wander in a desert and trackless land.
41 Und Er hebt in die Höhe aus dem Elend den Dürftigen und setzt die Familien wie eine Herde.
But he helps the poor out of poverty, and makes [him] families as a flock.
42 Die Redlichen sehen es und sind fröhlich, und aller Verkehrtheit wird ihr Mund zugestopft.
The upright shall see and rejoice; and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.
43 Wer ist weise und behält dies, und versteht Jehovahs Barmherzigkeit?
Who is wise, and will observe these things, and understand the mercies of the Lord?
