1 Samuel 9
1 Und es war ein Mann aus Benjamin, und sein Name Kisch, der Sohn Abiels, des Sohnes Zerors, des Sohnes Bechorath, des Sohnes Aphiach, des Sohnes eines Mannes aus Benjamin, ein tapferer Held.
And [there was] a man of the sons of Benjamin, and his name [was] Kis, the son of Abiel, the son of Jared, the son of Bachir, the son of Aphec, the son of a Benjamite, a man of might.
2 Und der hatte einen Sohn, und sein Name war Saul. Der war ein Jüngling und gut, und kein Mann aus den Söhnen Israels war besser als er; von seiner Schulter an und aufwärts war er höher denn alles Volk.
And this man [had] a son, and his name was Saul, of great stature, a goodly man; and there was not among the sons of Israel a goodlier than he, high above all the people from his shoulders and upward.
3 Und dem Kisch, Sauls Vater, waren die Eselinnen verlorengegangen, und Kisch sprach zu seinem Sohne Saul: Nimm doch mit dir einen von den Jungen und mache dich auf, gehe, suche die Eselinnen.
And the asses of Kis the father of Saul were lost; and Kis said to Saul his son, Take with you one of the young men, and arise you, and go seek the asses.
4 Und er durchzog das Gebirge Ephraim und durchzog das Land Schalischah, und sie fanden sie nicht; und sie durchzogen das Land Schaalim, und sie waren nicht da; und er ging durch das Land Jemini, und sie fanden sie nicht.
And they went through mount Ephraim, and they went through the land of Selcha, and found them not: and they passed through the land of Segalim, and they were not there: and they passed through the land of Jamin, and found them not.
5 Sie kamen in das Land Zuph und Saul sprach zu seinem Jungen, der mit ihm war: Komm und laß uns zurückkehren, daß nicht mein Vater abläßt von den Eselinnen und um uns besorgt ist.
And when they came to Siph, then Saul said to his young man that was with him, Come and let us return, lest my father leave the asses, and take care for us.
6 Der aber sprach zu ihm: Siehe doch, ein Mann Gottes ist in der Stadt da, und der Mann wird geehrt; laß uns nun dahin gehen, kommt; laß uns nun dahin gehen, vielleicht sagt er uns unseren Weg an, auf dem wir gehen müssen.
And the young man said to him, Behold now, [there is] a man of God in this city, and the man [is] of high repute; all that he shall speak will surely come to pass: now then let us go, that he may tell us our way on which we have set out.
7 Und Saul sprach zu seinem Jungen: Aber siehe, wollen wir hingehen, was bringen wir dem Manne? Denn das Brot ist aus unseren Gefäßen ausgegangen und wir haben kein Geschenk, das wir dem Manne Gottes bringen; was haben wir bei uns?
And Saul said to his young man that was with him, Behold, then, we will go; but what shall we bring the man of God? for the loaves are spent out of our vessels, and we have nothing more with us that belongs to us to bring to the man of God.
8 Und der Junge antwortete wieder dem Saul und sprach: Siehe, es findet sich in meiner Hand ein Viertelschekel Silbers, und den will ich dem Manne Gottes geben, daß er uns unseren Weg ansage.
And the young man answered Saul again, and said, Behold, there is found in my hand a fourth part of a shekel of silver; and you shall give it to the man of God, and he shall tell us our way.
9 Vordem sagte der Mann in Israel, wenn er ging, Gott zu befragen: Kommt, laßt uns zum Seher gehen; denn den heutigen Propheten nannte man vordem Seher.
Now before time in Israel every one in going to enquire of God said, Come and let us go to the seer; for the people beforetime called the prophet, the seer.
10 Und Saul sprach zu seinem Jungen: Dein Wort ist gut; komm, laß uns gehen! Und sie gingen nach der Stadt, da der Mann Gottes war.
And Saul said to his servant, Well said, come and let us go: and they went to the city where the man of God was.
11 Wie sie die Steige der Stadt hinaufgingen, fanden sie Mädchen, die herauskamen, Wasser zu schöpfen, und sie sprachen zu ihnen: Ist der Seher hier?
As they went up the ascent to the city, they find damsels come out to draw water, and they say to them, Is the seer here?
12 Und sie antworteten ihnen und sprachen: Ja, siehe, da vor dir. Eile nun, denn heute ist er nach der Stadt gekommen, weil heute das Volk ein Opfer hat auf der Höhe.
And the virgins answered them, and they say to them, He is: behold, [he is] before you: now he is coming to the city, because of the day, for today [there is] a sacrifice for the people in Bama.
13 Wenn ihr zur Stadt kommt, so findet ihr ihn noch, ehe er auf die Höhe hinaufgeht, zu essen; denn das Volk ißt nicht, bis er kommt, weil er das Opfer segnet; danach essen die Geladenen; und nun geht hinauf, denn heute findet ihr ihn.
As soon as you shall enter into the city, so shall you find him in the city, before he goes up to Bama to eat; for the people will not eat until he comes in, for he blesses the sacrifice, and afterwards the guests eat; now then go up, for you shall find him because of the holiday.
14 Und sie gingen hinauf in die Stadt, und sie waren in die Mitte der Stadt gekommen; und siehe, Samuel kam heraus, ihnen entgegen, um auf die Höhe hinaufzugehen.
And they go up to the city; and as they were entering into the midst of the city, behold, Samuel came out to meet them, to go up to Bama.
15 Und Jehovah hatte dem Samuel einen Tag vor Sauls Ankunft ins Ohr geoffenbart und gesagt:
And the Lord uncovered the ear of Samuel one day before Saul came to him, saying,
16 Um diese Zeit morgen werde Ich einen Mann aus dem Lande Benjamin zu dir senden, und du sollst ihn salben zu einem Führer über Mein Volk Israel, auf daß er Mein Volk von der Philister Hand rette; denn Ich habe Mein Volk angesehen, denn sein Schreien ist zu Mir gekommen.
At this time to-morrow I will send to you a man out of the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him to be ruler over my people Israel, and he shall save my people out of the hand of the Philistines; for I have looked upon the humiliation of my people, for their cry is come to me.
17 Und Samuel sah den Saul, und Jehovah antwortete ihm: Siehe, das ist der Mann, von dem Ich dir gesagt. Dieser wird über Mein Volk Gewalt haben.
And Samuel looked upon Saul, and the Lord answered him, Behold the man of whom I spoke to you, this one shall rule over my people.
18 Und Saul trat herzu zu Samuel inmitten des Tores und sprach: Sage mir doch an, wo ist hier das Haus des Sehers?
And Saul drew near to Samuel into the midst of the city, and said, Tell me now which [is] the house of the seer?
19 Und Samuel antwortete Saul und sprach: Ich bin der Seher, gehe hinauf vor mir auf die Höhe, daß ihr heute mit mir esset, und am Morgen will ich dich entsenden und dir alles ansagen, was in deinem Herzen ist.
And Samuel answered Saul, and said, I am he: go up before me to Bama, and eat with me today, and I will send you away in the morning, and I will tell you all that is in your heart.
20 Und anlangend die Eselinnen, die du verloren vor heute drei Tagen, so nimm dir es nicht zu Herzen ihretwegen, denn sie sind gefunden; und wem gehört all das Begehrenswerte Israels, ist es nicht dein des ganzen Hauses deines Vaters?
And concerning your asses that have been lost now these three days, care not for them, for they are found. And to whom does the excellency of Israel belong? does it not to you and to your father's house?
21 Und Saul antwortete und sprach: Bin ich nicht ein Benjaminite aus den kleinsten der Stämme Israels und aus der geringsten Familie von allen Familien des Stammes Benjamins, und warum redest du zu mir solches Wort?
And Saul answered and said, Am not I the son of a Benjamite, the least tribe of the people of Israel? and of the least family of the whole tribe of Benjamin? and why have you spoken to me according to this word?
22 Und Samuel nahm Saul und seinen Jungen und brachte ihn hinein in den Saal und gab ihnen einen Platz obenan unter den Gerufenen; diese aber waren an dreißig Männer.
And Samuel took Saul and his servant, and brought them to the inn, and set them there a place among the chief of those that were called, about seventy men.
23 Und zu dem Koch sprach Samuel: Gib her den Anteil, den ich dir gab, von dem ich zu dir sagte: Lege es hin bei dir.
And Samuel said to the cook, Give me the portion which I gave you, which I told you to set by you.
24 Und der Koch hob das Schulterstück empor und was darauf war, und setzte es Saul vor und sprach: Siehe, das ist der Überrest, setze ihn vor dich, iß, denn für dich ward er für die bestimmte Zeit behalten, da ich sprach: Ich habe dem Volk gerufen. Und Saul aß an selbigem Tage mit Samuel.
Now the cook [had] boiled the shoulder, and he set it before Saul; and Samuel said to Saul, Behold that which is left: set before you, an eat; for it is set you for a testimony in preference to the others; take [of it]: and Saul ate with Samuel on that day.
25 Und sie gingen hinab von der Höhe in die Stadt, und er redete mit Saul auf dem Dache.
And he went down from Bama into the city; and they prepared a lodging for Saul on the roof, and he lay down.
26 Und früh standen sie auf, und es geschah, da die Morgenröte aufging, rief Samuel den Saul auf das Dach und sprach: Mache dich auf, daß ich dich entlasse. Und Saul stand auf; und sie beide, er und Samuel, gingen hinaus auf die Gasse.
An it came to pass when the morning dawned, that Samuel called Saul on the roof, saying, Rise up, and I will dismiss you. And Saul arose, and he and Samuel went out.
27 Sie kamen herab an das Ende der Stadt, und Samuel sprach zu Saul: Sage dem Jungen, daß er vor uns hingehe; und er ging hin. Du aber bleibe stehen diesen Tag, daß ich dich das Wort Gottes hören lasse.
As they went down to a part of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Speak to the young man, and let him pass on before us; and do you stand as today, and listen to the word of God.
