1 Samuel 26

1 Und die Siphiter kamen zu Saul nach Gibeah und sprachen: Hält David sich nicht verborgen auf dem Hügel Chachilah vor dem Wüstenland?

The Ziphites came to Saul at Gibeah and said, “Is not David hiding in the hill of Hakilah, which is before Jeshimon?”

2 Und Saul machte sich auf und ging hinab nach der Wüste Siph, und mit ihm dreitausend Mann, aus Israel erwählt, David in der Wüste Siph zu suchen.

Then Saul arose and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.

3 Und Saul lagerte auf dem Hügel Chachilah, der vor dem Wüstenland am Wege ist. David aber blieb in der Wüste; und er sah, daß Saul nach ihm in die Wüste kam.

Saul camped on the hill of Hakilah, which is before Jeshimon, by the road. But David was staying in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul was coming after him into the wilderness.

4 Und David sandte Kundschafter aus und erfuhr, daß Saul wirklich gekommen sei.

So David sent out spies and learned that Saul had indeed come.

5 Und David machte sich auf und kam an den Ort, da Saul lagerte; und David sah den Ort, wo Saul lag, und Abner, der Sohn Ners, der Oberste seines Heeres; Saul aber lag in der Wagenburg und das Volk lagerte um ihn her.

David arose and went to the place where Saul had camped; he saw the place where Saul lay, and Abner son of Ner, the general of his army; Saul lay in the camp, and the people were camped around him, all asleep.

6 Und David antwortete und sprach zu Achimelech, dem Chethiter, und zu Abischai, dem Sohne Zerujahs, dem Bruder Joabs, und sprach: Wer geht mit mir hinab zu Saul zum Lager? Und Abischai sprach: Ich gehe mit dir hinab.

Then David said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai son of Zeruiah, the brother of Joab, “Who will go down with me to Saul in the camp?” Abishai said, “I! I will go down with you.”

7 Und David kam und Abischai zu dem Volke in der Nacht, und siehe, Saul lag schlafend in der Wagenburg und sein Spieß stak zu seinen Häupten in der Erde. Abner aber und das Volk lagen um ihn her.

So David and Abishai went to the army by night. Saul was there sleeping inside the camp with his spear stuck in the ground beside his head. Abner and his soldiers lay around him.

8 Und Abischai sprach zu David: Gott hat heute deinen Feind in deine Hand überantwortet, und nun laß mich ihn doch mit einem Male mit dem Spieß schlagen in die Erde, daß es keines zweiten bedarf.

Then Abishai said to David, “Today God has put your enemy into your hand. Now please let me pin him to the ground with the spear with just one blow. I will not strike him a second time.”

9 David aber sprach zu Abischai: Du sollst ihn nicht verderben; denn wer hat seine Hand wider den Gesalbten Jehovahs ausgereckt, und ist ungestraft geblieben?

David said to Abishai, “Do not destroy him; for who can extend his hand against Yahweh's anointed one and be guiltless?”

10 Und David sprach: Beim Leben Jehovahs, nur Jehovah soll ihn schlagen, oder es kommt sein Tag, daß er stirbt, oder er geht in den Streit hinab und wird weggerafft.

David said, “As Yahweh lives, Yahweh will kill him, or his day will come to die, or he will go into battle and perish.

11 Fern sei es von mir, vor Jehovah meine Hand wider den Gesalbten Jehovahs auszurekken! Und nun, nimm doch den Spieß zu seinen Häupten und den Wasserkrug, und laß uns gehen.

May Yahweh forbid that I should extend my hand against his anointed one; but now, I beg you, take the spear that is at his head and the jar of water, and let us go.”

12 Und David nahm den Spieß und den Wasserkrug von den Häupten Sauls, und sie gingen für sich, und niemand sah es und niemand wußte es und niemand erwachte; denn sie alle schliefen, weil ein tiefer Schlaf von Jehovah auf sie gefallen war.

So David took the spear and the jar of water from Saul's head, and they got away. No one saw them or knew about it, nor did anyone wake up, for they were all asleep, because a deep sleep from Yahweh had fallen on them.

13 Und David ging hinüber nach der anderen Seite und stand auf der Spitze des Berges von ferne. Viel Raum war zwischen ihnen.

Then David went over to the other side and stood on the top of the mountain far off; a great distance was between them.

14 Und David rief dem Volk und dem Abner, dem Sohne Ners und sprach: Willst du nicht antworten, Abner? Und Abner antwortete und sprach: Wer bist du, daß du so dem König rufst?

David shouted out to the people and to Abner son of Ner; he said, “Do you not answer, Abner?” Then Abner answered and said, “Who are you who is shouting to the king?”

15 Und David sprach zu Abner: Bist du nicht ein Mann? Und wer ist wie du in Israel? Warum denn hast du deinen Herrn, den König, nicht behütet? Denn einer vom Volk ist hingekommen, den König, deinen Herrn, zu verderben.

David said to Abner, “Are not you a courageous man? Who is like you in Israel? Why then have you not kept watch over your master the king? For someone came in to kill the king your master.

16 Das ist kein gut Ding, das du getan; beim Leben Jehovahs, ihr seid Söhne des Todes, daß ihr nicht über euren Herrn, über den Gesalbten Jehovahs, gewacht, und nun siehe, wo ist der Spieß des Königs und der Wasserkrug zu seinen Häupten?

This thing you have done is not good. As Yahweh lives, you deserve to die because you have not kept watch over your master, Yahweh's anointed one. Now see where the king's spear is and the jar of water that was near his head!”

17 Und Saul erkannte die Stimme Davids und sprach: Ist das deine Stimme, mein Sohn David? Und David sprach: Meine Stimme ist es, mein Herr König.

Saul recognized David's voice and said, “Is that your voice, my son David?” David said, “It is my voice, my master, king.”

18 Und er sprach: Warum ist dies, daß mein Herr seinem Knechte nachsetzt? Was habe ich denn getan und was ist Böses in meiner Hand?

He said, “Why does my master pursue his servant? What have I done? What evil is in my hand?

19 Und nun höre doch, mein Herr König, die Worte seines Knechtes. Wenn Jehovah dich antreibt wider mich, so rieche Er ein Speiseopfer; wenn es aber Menschensöhne sind, so seien sie verflucht vor Jehovah, denn an diesem Tage haben sie mich vertrieben von der Teilnahme an dem Erbe Jehovahs und sprechen: Gehe, diene anderen Göttern;

Now therefore, I beg you, let my master the king listen to the words of his servant. If it is Yahweh who has stirred you up against me, let him accept an offering; but if it is human beings, may they be cursed in the sight of Yahweh, for they have today driven me out, that I should not cling to the inheritance of Yahweh; they have said to me, 'Go worship other gods.'

20 Und nun falle nicht mein Blut zur Erde vor dem Angesicht Jehovahs; denn der König Israels ist ausgezogen, einen Floh zu suchen, wie man dem Rebhuhn nachsetzt auf den Bergen.

Now therefore, do not let my blood fall to the earth away from Yahweh's presence; for the king of Israel has come out to look for the one flea as when one hunts a partridge in the mountains.”

21 Und Saul sprach: Ich habe gesündigt, kehre zurück, mein Sohn David, ich will dir nichts Böses mehr tun, darum, daß an diesem Tage meine Seele kostbar war in deinen Augen; siehe, ich habe närrisch gehandelt und bin vielfach sehr irre gegangen.

Then Saul said, “I have sinned. Return, David, my son; for I will harm you no more, because my life was precious in your eyes today. See, I have played the fool and have made a very bad mistake.”

22 Und David antwortete und sprach: Siehe, den Spieß des Königs, so laß herüberkommen einen der Jungen, daß er ihn hole.

David answered and said, “See, your spear is here, king! Let one of the young men come over and get it and bring it to you.

23 Und Jehovah wird jedem Manne wiedergeben nach seiner Gerechtigkeit und seiner Treue, weil Jehovah dich heute in meine Hand gegeben, und ich war nicht willens, meine Hand auszurecken wider den Gesalbten Jehovahs.

May Yahweh pay each man for his righteousness and his faithfulness; because Yahweh put you into my hand today, but I would not strike his anointed.

24 Und siehe, wie an diesem Tage deine Seele in meinen Augen groß war, also möge meine Seele in den Augen Jehovahs groß sein und Er mich aus aller Drangsal erretten.

See, as your life was precious in my eyes today, so may my life be much valued in the eyes of Yahweh, and may he rescue me out of all trouble.”

25 Und Saul sprach zu David: Gesegnet seist du, mein Sohn David! Du wirst es auch gewißlich tun und auch vermögen. Und David ging seines Weges, und Saul kehrte zurück an seinen Ort.

Then Saul said to David, “May you be blessed, David my son! You will certainly do great things and you will succeed in them.” So David went his way, and Saul returned to his place.
