2 Deine Zähne gleichen einer Herde frischgeschorener Schafe, die von der Schwemme kommen, die allzumal Zwillinge tragen und deren keines unfruchtbar ist.

Your teeth are like flocks of shorn sheep, which ascend from the washing, each one with its identical twin, and not one among them is barren.

3 Deine Lippen sind wie eine Purpurschnur, und dein Mund ist lieblich; wie Granatäpfelhälften sind deine Wangen hinter deinem Schleier.

Your lips are like a scarlet ribbon, and your eloquence is sweetness. Like a piece of pomegranate, so are your cheeks, except for what is hidden within.

4 Dein Hals gleicht dem Davidsturm, zum Arsenal erbaut, mit tausend Schildern behängt, allen Tartschen der Helden.

Your neck is like the tower of David, which was built with ramparts: a thousand shields are hanging from it, all the armor of the strong.

5 Deine beiden Brüste gleichen zwei Rehkälbchen, Gazellenzwillingen, die zwischen den Lilien weiden.

Your two breasts are like two young does, twins that pasture among the lilies.

6 Bis der Tag kühl wird und die Schatten fliehen, will ich auf den Myrrhenberg gehen und auf den Weihrauchhügel!

Until the day rises and the shadows decline, I will go to the mountain of myrrh and to the hill of frankincense.

7 Ganz schön bist du, meine Freundin, und kein Makel ist an dir!

You are totally beautiful, my love, and there is no blemish in you.

8 Komm mit mir vom Libanon, Braut, komm mit mir vom Libanon! Steig herab vom Gipfel des Amana, vom Gipfel des Schenir und des Hermon, von den Wohnungen der Löwen, von den Bergen der Leoparden!

11 Honigseim träufeln deine Lippen, o Braut, Honig und Milch sind unter deiner Zunge, und der Geruch deiner Kleider ist wie der Geruch des Libanon!

Your lips, my spouse, are a dripping honeycomb; honey and milk are under your tongue. And the fragrance of your garments is like the odor of frankincense.

12 Ein verschlossener Garten ist meine Schwester, [meine] Braut; ein verschlossener Born, ein versiegelter Quell.

An enclosed garden is my sister, my spouse: an enclosed garden, a sealed fountain.

13 Deine Schößlinge sind ein Granatenpark mit herrlicher Frucht, Cyperblumen mit Narden;

You send forth a paradise of pomegranates along with the fruits of the orchard: Cypress grapes, with aromatic oil;

14 Narden und Krokus, Kalmus und Zimt, samt allerlei Weihrauchbäumen, Myrrhen und Aloe und den vornehmsten Balsamstauden;

aromatic oil and saffron; sweet cane and cinnamon, with all the trees of Lebanon; myrrh and aloe, with all the best ointments.

15 ein Gartenquell, ein Brunnen lebendigen Wassers, wie es vom Libanon rinnt!

The fountain of the gardens is a well of living waters, which flow forcefully from Lebanon.

16 Erwache, Nordwind; Südwind, komm, durchwehe meinen Garten, daß sein Balsam träufle! Mein Freund komme in seinen Garten und esse seine herrliche Frucht!

Rise up, north wind, and advance, south wind. Send a breeze through my garden, and carry its aromatic scents.
