Jesaja 30
1 »Wehe den Söhnen« – so lautet der Ausspruch des HERRN –, »die abtrünnig werden dadurch, daß sie einen Plan ins Werk setzen, der nicht von mir ausgeht, und ein Bündnis schließen ohne meine Billigung, um Sünde auf Sünde zu häufen!
“Woe to the rebellious children,” says Adonai, “who take counsel, but not from me; and who make an alliance, but not with my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin,
2 Sie machen sich auf, um nach Ägypten hinabzuziehen, ohne meinen Mund befragt zu haben, um sich unter den Schutz des Pharaos zu begeben und im Schatten Ägyptens Zuflucht zu suchen!
who set out to go down into Egypt [Abode of slavery], and have not asked my advice; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to take refuge in the shadow of Egypt [Abode of slavery]!
3 Aber es wird euch der Schutz des Pharaos zur Schande ausschlagen und das Suchen von Zuflucht im Schatten Ägyptens zur Schmach!
Therefore the strength of Pharaoh will be your shame, and the refuge in the shadow of Egypt [Abode of slavery] your confusion.
4 Denn mögen auch seine Fürsten schon in Zoan eingetroffen sein und seine Gesandten schon Hanes erreicht haben,
For their princes are at Zoan, and their ambassadors have come to Hanes.
5 so werden doch alle enttäuscht werden an einem Volke, das ihnen nichts nützen kann, das ihnen keine Hilfe und keinen Nutzen schafft, sondern nur Enttäuschung und Schimpf dazu.«
They shall all be ashamed because of a people that can’t profit them, that are not a help nor profit, but a shame, and also a reproach.”
6 Ausspruch über das Großtier des Südens: In einem Lande voll Drangsal und Bedrängnis – Löwen und Löwinnen, Ottern und geflügelte Giftschlangen gehören zu ihnen – schleppen sie ihre Schätze auf dem Rücken von Eseln und ihre Reichtümer auf den Höckern von Kamelen zu einem Volke, das ihnen nichts nützen kann.
The burden of the animals of the South. Through the land of trouble and anguish, of the lioness and the lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they carry their riches on the shoulders of young donkeys, and their treasures on the humps of camels, to an unprofitable people.
7 Denn eitel und nichtig ist Ägyptens Hilfe; darum nenne ich dieses Volk »Großtuer, die still sitzen«.
For Egypt [Abode of slavery] helps in vain, and to no purpose; therefore have I called her Rahab who sits still.
8 »Gehe jetzt hinein, schreibe es vor ihren Augen auf eine Tafel und trage es in ein Buch ein, damit es für künftige Zeiten als ein ewiges Zeugnis diene.
Now go, write it before them on a tablet, and inscribe it in a book, that it may be for the time to come forever and ever.
9 Denn ein widerspenstiges Volk ist es, mißratene Söhne, Söhne, die den Weisungen des HERRN nicht gehorchen wollen,
For it is a rebellious people, lying children, children who will not sh'ma ·hear obey· Adonai’s Torah ·Teaching·;
10 die zu den Sehern sagen: ›Ihr sollt nicht sehen!‹ und zu den Propheten: ›Ihr sollt uns nicht die Wahrheit prophezeien! Verkündet uns angenehme Dinge, prophezeiet uns Täuschungen!
who tell the seers, “Don’t see!” and to the prophets, “Don’t prophesy to us right things. Tell us pleasant things. Prophesy deceits.
11 Weicht vom rechten Wege ab, verlaßt den rechten Pfad! Laßt uns mit dem Heiligen Israels in Ruhe!‹«
Get out of the way. Turn aside from the path. Cause the haKadosh Isra'el [the Holy One of God prevails] to cease from before us.”
12 Darum hat der Heilige Israels so gesprochen: »Weil ihr dies (mein) Wort verwerft und euer Vertrauen auf Gewalttätigkeit und Schleichwege setzt und euch darauf verlaßt,
Therefore thus says the haKadosh Isra'el [the Holy One of God prevails], “Because you despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and rely on it;
13 darum soll euch diese Verschuldung gleich einem sturzdrohenden Riß sein, wie eine Ausbauchung an einer hochragenden Mauer, deren Einsturz plötzlich, in einem Augenblick erfolgt,
therefore this iniquity shall be to you like a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking comes suddenly in an instant.
14 indem er sie zertrümmert, wie man einen Töpferkrug zertrümmert, den man schonungslos zusammenschlägt, so daß sich unter seinen Stücken keine Scherbe mehr findet, um in ihr etwas Glut vom Feuerherd zu holen oder etwas Wasser aus einer Wasserlache zu schöpfen.«
He will break it as a potter’s vessel is broken, breaking it in pieces without sparing, so that there won’t be found among the broken piece a piece good enough to take fire from the hearth, or to dip up water out of the cistern.”
15 Denn so hat Gott der HERR, der Heilige Israels, gesprochen: »Durch Umkehr und Ruhehalten werdet ihr gerettet werden, im Stillesein und Vertrauen besteht eure Kraft. Aber ihr habt nicht gewollt, sondern habt gesagt: ›Nein!
For thus said the Lord Adonai, the haKadosh Isra'el [the Holy One of God prevails], “You will be saved in making teshuvah ·complete return· and rest. Your strength will be in quietness and in confidence.” You refused,
16 Vielmehr auf Rossen wollen wir dahinfliegen!‹ – nun, so sollt ihr dahinfliehen –, ›und auf Rennern wollen wir reiten!‹ – nun, so sollen eure Verfolger die Renner sein.
but you said, “No, for we will flee on horses;” therefore you will flee; and, “We will ride on the swift;” therefore those who pursue you will be swift.
17 Euer tausend sollen vor dem Kriegsruf eines einzigen fliehen, und vor dem Kriegsruf von fünf Feinden sollt ihr insgesamt fliehen, bis ihr ein Rest geworden seid wie eine Signalstange auf einem Berggipfel und wie ein Banner auf einer Anhöhe.«
One thousand will flee at the threat of one. At the threat of five, you will flee until you are left like a beacon on the top of a mountain, and like a banner on a hill.
18 Darum wird der HERR damit zögern, euch Gnade zu erweisen, und darum wird er davon absehen, sich euer zu erbarmen; denn ein Gott des Rechts ist der HERR: wohl allen, die auf ihn harren!
Therefore Adonai will wait, that he may be gracious to you; and therefore he will be exalted, that he may have racham ·merciful love· on you, for Adonai is a God of mishpat ·justice·. Blessed are all those who wait for him.
19 Ja du Volk in Zion, das in Jerusalem wohnt, du sollst nicht immerfort weinen! Gewißlich wird er sich dir gnädig erweisen auf deinen Hilferuf hin: sobald er ihn vernimmt, wird er dich erhören.
For the people will dwell in Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking] at Jerusalem [City of peace]. You will weep no more. He will surely be gracious to you at the voice of your cry. When he sh'ma ·hears obeys· you, he will answer you.
20 Und der Allherr wird euch zwar das Brot der Drangsal und das Wasser der Trübsal reichen, aber deine Lehrer werden sich nicht abermals verbergen (müssen), sondern deine Augen werden deine Lehrer erblicken
Though the Lord may give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your teachers won’t be hidden any more, but your eyes will see your teachers;
21 und deine Ohren hinter dir den Zuruf vernehmen: »Dies ist der Weg, wandelt auf ihm!«, mögt ihr zur Rechten gehen oder zur Linken abbiegen.
and when you turn to the right hand, and when you turn to the left, your ears will sh'ma ·hear obey· a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way. Walk in it.”
22 Da wirst du dann deine mit Silber überzogenen Schnitzbilder und deine mit Gold bekleideten Gußbilder als unrein ansehen: wie etwas Ekelhaftes wirst du sie wegwerfen mit dem Zuruf: »Hinaus mit euch!«
You shall defile the overlaying of your engraved images of silver, and the plating of your molten images of gold. You shall cast them away as an unclean thing. You shall tell it, “Go away!”
23 Dann wird er dir Regen geben für deine Aussaat, mit der du den Acker bestellt hast, und Brot als Ertrag deines Feldes, und zwar wird es saftig und nahrhaft sein. Deine Herden werden zu jener Zeit auf weiter Flur weiden,
He will give the rain for your seed, with which you will sow the ground; and bread of the increase of the ground will be rich and plentiful. In that day, your livestock will feed in large pastures.
24 und die Ochsen und Esel, die das Ackerland bearbeiten, werden gesalzenes Mengfutter fressen, das mit der Wurfschaufel und der Gabel geworfelt ist.
The oxen likewise and the young donkeys that till the ground will eat savory feed, which has been winnowed with the shovel and with the fork.
25 Und auf jedem hohen Berge und auf jeder ragenden Anhöhe wird es Bäche sprudelnden Wassers geben am Tage des großen Blutbades, wenn die Türme fallen;
There shall be brooks and streams of water on every lofty mountain and on every high hill in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.
26 und das Licht des Mondes wird so hell sein wie das Sonnenlicht, und das Licht der Sonne wird siebenmal so hell scheinen wie das Licht der sieben Wochentage zu der Zeit, wo der HERR den Schaden seines Volkes verbindet und die ihm geschlagene Wunde heilt.
Moreover the light of the moon will be like the light of the sun, and the light of the sun will be seven times brighter, like the light of seven days, in the day that Adonai binds up the fracture of his people, and heals the wound they were struck with.
27 Sehet, der HERR kommt persönlich aus der Ferne daher: sein Zorn lodert, und gewaltig ist seine Erregung; seine Lippen sind voll Grimms, und seine Zunge ist wie fressendes Feuer;
Behold, Adonai’s name comes from far away, burning with his anger, and in thick rising smoke. His lips are full of indignation, and his tongue is as a devouring fire.
28 sein Atem gleicht einem flutenden Wasserstrom, der bis an den Hals reicht; – um die Völker in der Schwinge der Vernichtung zu schwingen und den Völkerschaften einen irreleitenden Zaum an die Kinnbacken zu legen.
His breath is as an overflowing stream that reaches even to the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of destruction; and a bridle that leads to ruin will be in the jaws of the peoples.
29 Da werdet ihr Lieder anstimmen wie in der Nacht, in der man die Festfeier vollzieht, und euch von Herzen freuen wie die (Wallfahrer), die unter Flötenklang dahinziehen, um auf den Berg des HERRN zu gelangen, hin zum Felsen Israels.
You will have a song, as in the night when a holy feast is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goes with a flute to come to Adonai’s mountain, to Israel [God prevails]’s Rock.
30 Dann wird der HERR seine machtvolle (Donner-) Stimme hören lassen und seinen Arm zeigen, der niederfährt bei schnaubendem Zorn und mit verzehrender Feuerflamme, unter Wolkenbruch und Wetterguß und Hagelsteinen.
Adonai will cause his glorious voice to be sh'ma ·heard obeyed·, and will show the descent of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and the flame of a devouring fire, with a blast, storm, and hailstones.
31 Denn vor der (Donner-) Stimme des HERRN wird Assyrien erschrecken, wenn er es mit dem Stecken schlägt;
For through Adonai’s voice the Assyrian will be dismayed. He will strike him with his rod.
32 und sooft der Züchtigungsstab daherfährt, den der HERR auf ihn niederfallen läßt, wird es geschehen unter Paukenschall und Harfenklang; und mit geschwungenem Arm kämpfend wird er gegen sie streiten.
Every stroke of the rod of punishment, which Adonai will lay on him, will be with the sound of tambourines and harps. He will fight with them in battles, brandishing weapons.
33 Denn längst ist eine Greuelbrandstätte hergerichtet: auch sie ist für den König bestimmt; tief und breit hat er ihren Scheiterhaufen angelegt, mit Feuerung und Holz in Menge: gleich einem Schwefelstrom setzt der Hauch des HERRN ihn in Brand.
For Tophet (Place of fiery torment for the dead, located in Gehenna), his burning place, has long been ready. Yes, for the king it is prepared. He has made its pyre deep and large with fire and much wood. Adonai’s breath, like a stream of sulfur, kindles it.
