Psalm 83
1 Ein Psalmlied Assaphs. Gott, schweige doch nicht also und sei doch nicht so stille; Gott, halte doch nicht so inne!
A Song of a Psalm for Asaph. O God, who shall be compared to you? be not silent, neither be still, O God.
2 Denn siehe, deine Feinde toben, und die dich hassen, richten den Kopf auf.
For behold, your enemies have made a noise; and they that hate you have lifted up the head.
3 Sie machen listige Anschläge wider dein Volk und ratschlagen wider deine Verborgenen.
Against your people they have craftily imagined a device, and have taken counsel against your saints.
4 Wohl her! sprechen sie, laßt uns sie ausrotten, daß sie kein Volk seien, daß des Namens Israel nicht mehr gedacht werde!
They have said, Come, and let us utterly destroy them out of the nation; and let the name of Israel be remembered no more at all.
5 Denn sie haben sich miteinander vereiniget und einen Bund wider dich gemacht:
For they have taken counsel together with one consent: they have made a confederacy against you;
6 die Hütten der Edomiter und Ismaeliter, der Moabiter und Hagariter,
even the tents of the Idumeans, and the Ismaelites; Moab, and the Agarenes;
7 der Gebaliter, Ammoniter und Amalekiter, die Philister, samt denen zu Tyrus;
Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalec; the Philistines also, with them that dwell at Tyre.
8 Assur hat sich auch zu ihnen geschlagen und helfen den Kindern Lot. (Sela)
Yes, Assur too is come with them: they have become a help to the children of Lot. (Pause)
9 Tu ihnen wie den Midianitern, wie Sissera, wie Jabin am Bach Kison,
Do you to them as to Madiam, and to Sisera; as to Jabin at the brook of Kison.
10 die vertilget wurden bei Endor und wurden zu Kot auf Erden.
They were utterly destroyed at Aendor: they became as dung for the earth.
11 Mache ihre Fürsten wie Oreb und Seeb, alle ihre Obersten wie Sebah und Zalmuna,
Make their princes as Oreb and Zeb, and Zebee and Salmana; [even] all their princes:
12 die da sagen: Wir wollen die Häuser Gottes einnehmen.
who said, let us take to ourselves the altar of God as an inheritance.
13 Gott, mache sie wie einen Wirbel, wie Stoppeln vor dem Winde!
O my God, make them as a wheel; as stubble before the face of the wind.
14 Wie ein Feuer den Wald verbrennet, und wie eine Flamme, die Berge anzündet,
As fire which shall burn up a wood, as the flame may consume the mountains;
15 also verfolge sie mit deinem Wetter und erschrecke sie mit deinem Ungewitter.
so shall you persecute them with your tempest, and trouble them in your anger.
16 Mache ihr Angesicht voll Schande, daß sie nach deinem Namen fragen müssen.
Fill their faces with dishonour; so shall they seek your name, O Lord.
17 Schämen müssen sie sich und erschrecken immer mehr und mehr und zuschanden werden und umkommen.
Let them be ashamed and troubled for evermore; yes, let them be confounded and destroyed.
And let them know that your name is Lord; that you alone are Most High over all the earth.
