Psalm 6

1 Ein Psalm Davids, vorzusingen auf acht Saiten. Ach, HERR, strafe mich nicht in deinem Zorn und züchtige mich nicht in deinem Grimm!

To the chief music-maker on corded instruments, on the Sheminith. A Psalm. Of David. O Lord, do not be bitter with me in your wrath; do not send punishment on me in the heat of your passion.

2 HERR, sei mir gnädig, denn ich bin schwach; heile mich, HERR, denn meine Gebeine sind erschrocken,

Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am wasted away: make me well, for even my bones are troubled.

3 und meine Seele ist sehr erschrocken. Ach, du HERR, wie lange!

My soul is in bitter trouble; and you, O Lord, how long?

4 Wende dich, HERR, und errette meine Seele; hilf mir um deiner Güte willen!

Come back, O Lord, make my soul free; O give me salvation because of your mercy.

5 Denn im Tode gedenkt man dein nicht; wer will dir in der Hölle danken? (Sheol h7585)

For in death there is no memory of you; in the underworld who will give you praise? (Sheol h7585)

6 Ich bin so müde vom Seufzen, ich schwemme mein Bette die ganze Nacht und netze mit meinen Tränen mein Lager.

The voice of my sorrow is a weariness to me; all the night I make my bed wet with weeping; it is watered by the drops flowing from my eyes.

7 Meine Gestalt ist verfallen vor Trauern und ist alt worden; denn ich allenthalben geängstet werde.

My eyes are wasting away with trouble; they are becoming old because of all those who are against me.

8 Weichet von mir, alle Übeltäter; denn der HERR höret mein Weinen,

Go from me, all you workers of evil; for the Lord has given ear to the voice of my weeping.

9 der HERR höret mein Flehen, mein Gebet nimmt der HERR an.

The Lord has given ear to my request; the Lord has let my prayer come before him.

Let all those who are against me be shamed and deeply troubled; let them be turned back and suddenly put to shame.
