Lukas 2
1 Es begab sich aber zu der Zeit, daß ein Gebot vom Kaiser Augustus ausging, daß alle Welt geschätzt würde.
But it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census should be made of all the habitable world.
2 Und diese Schätzung war die allererste und geschah zu der Zeit, da Cyrenius Landpfleger in Syrien war.
The census itself first took place when Cyrenius had the government of Syria.
3 Und jedermann ging, daß er sich schätzen ließe, ein. jeglicher in seine Stadt.
And all went to be inscribed in the census roll, each to his own city:
4 Da machte sich auch auf Joseph aus Galiläa, aus der Stadt Nazareth, in das jüdische Land zur Stadt Davids die da heißt Bethlehem, darum daß er von dem Hause und Geschlechte Davids war,
and Joseph also went up from Galilee out of the city Nazareth to Judaea, to David's city, the which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,
5 auf daß er sich schätzen ließe mit Maria, seinem vertrauten Weibe, die war schwanger.
to be inscribed in the census roll with Mary who was betrothed to him [as his] wife, she being great with child.
6 Und als sie daselbst waren, kam die Zeit, daß sie gebären sollte.
And it came to pass, while they were there, the days of her giving birth [to her child] were fulfilled,
7 Und sie gebar ihren ersten Sohn und wickelte ihn in Windeln und legte ihn in eine Krippe; denn sie hatten sonst keinen Raum in der Herberge.
and she brought forth her first-born son, and wrapped him up in swaddling-clothes and laid him in the manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
8 Und es waren Hirten in derselbigen Gegend auf dem Felde bei den Hürden, die hüteten des Nachts ihre Herde.
And there were shepherds in that country abiding without, and keeping watch by night over their flock.
9 und siehe des HERRN Engel trat zu ihnen, und die Klarheit des HERRN leuchtete um sie, und sie fürchteten sich sehr.
And lo, an angel of [the] Lord was there by them, and [the] glory of [the] Lord shone around them, and they feared [with] great fear.
10 Und der Engel sprach zu ihnen: Fürchtet euch nicht! Siehe, ich verkündige euch große Freude, die allem Volk widerfahren wird;
And the angel said to them, Fear not, for behold, I announce to you glad tidings of great joy, which shall be to all the people;
11 denn euch ist heute der Heiland geboren, welcher ist Christus, der HERR, in der Stadt Davids.
for to-day a Saviour has been born to you in David's city, who is Christ [the] Lord.
12 Und das habt zum Zeichen: Ihr werdet finden das Kind in Windeln gewickelt und in einer Krippe liegen.
And this is the sign to you: ye shall find a babe wrapped in swaddling-clothes, and lying in a manger.
13 Und alsbald war da bei dem Engel die Menge der himmlischen Heerscharen, die lobten Gott und sprachen:
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying,
14 Ehre sei Gott in der Höhe und Friede auf Erden und den Menschen ein Wohlgefallen!
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good pleasure in men.
15 Und da die Engel von ihnen gen Himmel fuhren, sprachen die Hirten untereinander: Laßt uns nun gehen gen Bethlehem und die Geschichte sehen, die da geschehen ist, die uns der HERR kundgetan hat.
And it came to pass, as the angels departed from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, Let us make our way then now as far as Bethlehem, and let us see this thing that is come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.
16 Und sie kamen eilend und fanden beide, Maria und Joseph, dazu das Kind in der Krippe liegen.
And they came with haste, and found both Mary and Joseph, and the babe lying in the manger;
17 Da sie es aber gesehen hatten, breiteten sie das Wort aus, welches zu ihnen von diesem Kind gesagt war.
and having seen [it] they made known about the country the thing which had been said to them concerning this child.
18 Und alle, vor die es kam, wunderten sich der Rede, die ihnen die Hirten gesagt hatten.
And all who heard [it] wondered at the things said to them by the shepherds.
19 Maria aber behielt alle diese Worte und bewegete sie in ihrem Herzen.
But Mary kept all these things [in her mind], pondering [them] in her heart.
20 Und die Hirten kehreten wieder um, preiseten und lobten Gott um alles, was sie gehöret und gesehen hatten, wie denn zu ihnen gesagt war.
And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all things which they had heard and seen, as it had been said to them.
21 Und da acht Tage um waren, daß das Kind beschnitten würde, da ward sein Name genannt Jesus, welcher genannt war von dem Engel, ehe denn er in Mutterleibe empfangen ward.
And when eight days were fulfilled for circumcising him, his name was called Jesus, which was the name given by the angel before he had been conceived in the womb.
22 Und da die Tage ihrer Reinigung nach dem Gesetz. Moses kamen, brachten sie ihn gen Jerusalem, daß sie ihn darstelleten dem HERRN
And when the days were fulfilled for their purifying according to the law of Moses, they brought him to Jerusalem to present [him] to the Lord
23 (wie denn geschrieben stehet in dem Gesetz des HERRN: Allerlei Männlein, das zum ersten die Mutter bricht, soll dem HERRN geheiliget heißen),
(as it is written in the law of [the] Lord: Every male that opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord),
24 und daß sie gäben das Opfer, nachdem gesagt ist im Gesetz des HERRN, ein Paar Turteltauben oder zwo junge Tauben.
and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the law of [the] Lord: A pair of turtle doves, or two young pigeons.
25 Und siehe, ein Mensch war zu Jerusalem mit Namen Simeon; und derselbe Mensch war fromm und gottesfürchtig und wartete auf den Trost Israels; und der Heilige Geist war in ihm.
And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was just and pious, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and [the] Holy Spirit was upon him.
26 Und ihm war eine Antwort worden von dem Heiligen Geist, er sollte den Tod nicht sehen, er hätte denn zuvor den Christ des HERRN gesehen.
And it was divinely communicated to him by the Holy Spirit, that he should not see death before he should see [the] Lord's Christ.
27 Und kam aus Anregen des Geistes in den Tempel. Und da die Eltern das Kind Jesus in den Tempel brachten, daß sie für ihn täten, wie man pfleget nach dem Gesetz,
And he came in the Spirit into the temple; and as the parents brought in the child Jesus that they might do for him according to the custom of the law,
28 da nahm er ihn auf seine Arme und lobete Gott und sprach:
he received him into his arms, and blessed God, and said,
29 HERR, nun lässest du deinen Diener im Frieden fahren, wie du gesagt hast;
Lord, now thou lettest thy bondman go, according to thy word, in peace;
30 denn meine Augen haben deinen Heiland gesehen,
for mine eyes have seen thy salvation,
31 welchen du bereitet hast vor allen Völkern,
which thou hast prepared before the face of all peoples;
32 ein Licht, zu erleuchten die Heiden, und zum Preis deines Volks Israel.
a light for revelation of [the] Gentiles and [the] glory of thy people Israel.
33 Und sein Vater und Mutter wunderten sich des, das von ihm geredet ward.
And his father and mother wondered at the things which were said concerning him.
34 Und Simeon segnete sie und sprach zu Maria, seiner Mutter: Siehe, dieser wird gesetzt zu einem Fall und Auferstehen vieler in Israel und zu einem Zeichen, dem widersprochen wird
And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother, Lo, this [child] is set for the fall and rising up of many in Israel, and for a sign spoken against;
35 (und es wird ein Schwert durch deine Seele dringen), auf daß vieler Herzen Gedanken offenbar werden.
(and even a sword shall go through thine own soul; ) so that [the] thoughts may be revealed from many hearts.
36 Und es war eine Prophetin, Hanna, eine Tochter Phanuels, vom Geschlecht Asser; die war wohl betaget und hatte gelebt sieben Jahre mit ihrem Manne nach ihrer Jungfrauschaft
And there was a prophetess, Anna, daughter of Phanuel, of [the] tribe of Asher, who was far advanced in years, having lived with [her] husband seven years from her virginity,
37 und war nun eine Witwe bei vierundachtzig Jahren; die kam nimmer vom Tempel, dienete Gott mit Fasten und Beten Tag und Nacht:
and herself a widow up to eighty-four years; who did not depart from the temple, serving night and day with fastings and prayers;
38 Dieselbige trat auch hinzu zu derselbigen Stunde und preisete den HERRN und redete von ihm zu allen, die da auf die Erlösung zu Jerusalem warteten.
and she coming up the same hour gave praise to the Lord, and spoke of him to all those who waited for redemption in Jerusalem.
39 Und da sie es alles vollendet hatten nach dem Gesetz des HERRN, kehrten sie wieder nach Galiläa zu ihrer Stadt Nazareth.
And when they had completed all things according to the law of [the] Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own city Nazareth.
40 Aber das Kind wuchs und ward stark im Geist, voller Weisheit; und Gottes Gnade war bei ihm.
And the child grew and waxed strong [in spirit], filled with wisdom, and God's grace was upon him.
41 Und seine Eltern gingen alle Jahre gen Jerusalem auf das Osterfest
And his parents went yearly to Jerusalem at the feast of the passover.
42 Und da er zwölf Jahre alt war, gingen sie hinauf gen Jerusalem nach Gewohnheit des Festes.
And when he was twelve years old, and they went up [to Jerusalem] according to the custom of the feast
43 Und da die Tage vollendet waren, und sie wieder nach Hause gingen, blieb das Kind Jesus zu Jerusalem; und seine Eltern wußten's nicht.
and had completed the days, as they returned, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, and his parents knew not [of it];
44 Sie meineten aber, er wäre unter den Gefährten, und kamen eine Tagereise und suchten ihn unter den Gefreundeten und Bekannten.
but, supposing him to be in the company that journeyed together, they went a day's journey, and sought him among their relations and acquaintances:
45 Und da sie ihn nicht fanden gingen sie wiederum gen Jerusalem und suchten ihn.
and not having found him they returned to Jerusalem seeking him.
46 Und begab sich, nach dreien Tagen fanden sie ihn im Tempel sitzen mitten unter den Lehrern, daß er ihnen zuhörete und sie fragete.
And it came to pass, after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers and hearing them and asking them questions.
47 Und alle, die ihm zuhöreten, verwunderten sich seines Verstandes und seiner Antwort.
And all who heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.
48 Und da sie ihn sahen, entsetzten sie sich. Und seine Mutter sprach zu ihm: Mein Sohn, warum hast du uns das getan? Siehe, dein Vater und ich haben dich mit Schmerzen gesucht.
And when they saw him they were amazed: and his mother said to him, Child, why hast thou dealt thus with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee distressed.
49 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Was ist's, daß ihr mich gesucht habt? Wisset ihr nicht, daß ich sein muß in dem, was meines Vaters ist?
And he said to them, Why [is it] that ye have sought me? did ye not know that I ought to be [occupied] in my Father's business?
50 Und sie verstunden das Wort nicht, das er mit ihnen redete.
And they understood not the thing that he said to them.
51 Und er ging mit ihnen hinab und kam gen Nazareth und war ihnen untertan. Und seine Mutter behielt alle diese Worte in ihrem Herzen.
And he went down with them and came to Nazareth, and he was in subjection to them. And his mother kept all these things in her heart.
52 Und Jesus nahm zu an Weisheit, Alter und Gnade bei Gott und den Menschen.
And Jesus advanced in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men.
