1 Korinther 14
1 Strebet nach der Liebe! Fleißiget euch der geistlichen Gaben, am meisten aber, daß ihr weissagen möget.
Labour after charity, and be desirous of spiritual gifts: but especially that ye may prophesy.
2 Denn der mit der Zunge redet, der redet nicht den Menschen, sondern Gott. Denn ihm höret niemand zu; im Geist aber redet er die Geheimnisse.
For he, that speaketh in an unknown tongue, speaketh not to men, but to God: for no one understandeth, though in spirit he speaketh mysteries.
3 Wer aber weissaget, der redet den Menschen zur Besserung und zur Ermahnung und zur Tröstung.
But he, that prophesieth, speaketh edification, and exhortation, and comfort to men.
4 Wer mit Zungen redet, der bessert sich selbst; wer aber weissaget, der bessert die Gemeinde.
He, that speaketh in an unknown tongue, edifieth himself: but he, that prophesieth, edifieth the church.
5 Ich wollte, daß ihr alle mit Zungen reden könntet, aber viel mehr, daß ihr weissagetet. Denn der da weissaget, ist größer, denn der mit Zungen redet, es sei denn, daß er es auch auslege, daß die Gemeinde davon gebessert werde.
I could wish that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edification.
6 Nun aber, liebe Brüder, wenn ich zu euch käme und redete mit Zungen, was wäre ich euch nütze, so ich nicht mit euch redete entweder durch Offenbarung oder durch Erkenntnis oder durch Weissagung oder durch Lehre?
Now, my brethren, if I come to you speaking with many tongues, what shall I profit you, unless I speak intelligibly to you of revelation, or knowledge, or prophecy, or doctrine?
7 Hält sich's doch auch also in den Dingen, die da lauten und doch nicht leben, es sei eine Pfeife oder eine Harfe; wenn sie nicht unterschiedliche Stimmen von sich geben, wie kann man wissen, was gepfiffen oder geharfet ist?
As inanimate things which give a found, whether pipe or harp, unless they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall what is piped or harped be understood?
8 Und so die Posaune einen undeutlichen Ton gibt, wer will sich zum Streit rüsten?
For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for the battle?
9 Also auch ihr, wenn ihr mit Zungen redet, so ihr nicht eine deutliche Rede gebet, wie kann man wissen, was geredet ist? Denn ihr werdet in den Wind reden.
So also unless ye utter by the tongue intelligible words, how shall what is spoken be understood? for thus ye will be only talking to the wind.
10 Zwar es ist mancherlei Art der Stimmen in der Welt, und derselbigen ist doch keine undeutlich.
There are, it may be, as many kinds of voices in the world as people, and none of them insignificant.
11 So ich nun nicht weiß der Stimme Deutung, werde ich undeutsch sein dem, der da redet, und der da redet, wird mir undeutsch sein.
But if I know not the force of the words, I shall be to him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh will be a barbarian to me.
12 Also auch ihr, sintemal ihr euch fleißiget der geistlichen Gaben, trachtet danach, daß ihr die Gemeinde bessert, auf daß ihr alles reichlich habet.
So ye also, since ye are so desirous of spiritual gifts, seek to abound in them to the edification of the church.
13 Darum, welcher mit Zungen redet, der bete also, daß er's auch auslege.
Wherefore let him, that speaketh in an unknown tongue, pray that he may interpret.
14 So ich aber mit Zungen bete, so betet mein Geist; aber mein Sinn bringet niemand Frucht.
For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit indeed prayeth, but my meaning is fruitless.
15 Wie soll es aber denn sein? Nämlich also: Ich will beten mit dem Geist und will beten auch im Sinn; ich will Psalmen singen im Geist und will auch Psalmen singen mit dem Sinn.
What is then to be done? I will pray with the Spirit, but I will pray to be understood: I will sing with the spirit, but I will sing to be understood.
16 Wenn du aber segnest im Geist, wie soll der, so anstatt des Laien stehet, Amen sagen auf deine Danksagung, sintemal er nicht weiß, was du sagest?
For if thou bless in the spirit, how shall the unlearned say Amen to thy thanksgiving, when he knoweth not what thou sayst?
17 Du danksagest wohl fein; aber der andere wird nicht davon gebessert.
thou indeed givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.
18 Ich danke meinem Gott, daß ich mehr mit Zungen rede denn ihr alle.
I thank God, I speak with tongues more than you all.
19 Aber ich will in der Gemeinde lieber fünf Worte reden mit meinem Sinn, auf daß ich auch andere unterweise, denn sonst zehntausend Worte mit Zungen.
But in a public assembly I had rather speak five words to be understood, that I may instruct others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.
20 Liebe Brüder, werdet nicht Kinder an dem Verständnis, sondern an der Bosheit seid Kinder; an dem Verständnis aber seid vollkommen.
My brethren, be not children in sense: but in malice be infants, and in your judgements shew yourselves to be men.
21 Im Gesetz stehet geschrieben: Ich will mit andern Zungen und mit andern Lippen reden zu diesem Volk, und sie werden mich auch also nicht hören, spricht der HERR.
It is written in the law, "By men of another language, and by other lips, will I speak to this people, and even so they will not listen to me, saith the Lord."
22 Darum so sind die Zungen zum Zeichen, nicht den Gläubigen, sondern den Ungläubigen; die Weissagung aber nicht den Ungläubigen, sondern den Gläubigen.
So that tongues are for a sign, not to believers but to unbelievers: but prophecy not to unbelievers but to those that believe.
23 Wenn nun die ganze Gemeinde zusammenkäme an einem Ort und redeten alle mit Zungen, es kämen aber hinein Laien oder Ungläubige, würden sie nicht sagen, ihr wäret unsinnig?
If then the whole church be come together and all speak in unknown tongues, and there come in illiterate persons, or infidels, will they not say that ye are mad?
24 So sie aber alle weissageten und käme dann ein Ungläubiger oder Laie hinein, der würde von denselbigen allen gestraft und von allen gerichtet.
But if all prophesy, and there come in an unbeliever, or one unlearned, he is convinced by all, he is judged by all.
25 Und also würde das Verborgene seines Herzens offenbar, und er würde also fallen auf sein Angesicht, Gott anbeten und bekennen, daß Gott wahrhaftig in euch sei.
And thus the secrets of his heart are made manifest; so that falling down upon his face he will worship God, declaring that God is indeed among you.
26 Wie ist ihm denn nun, liebe Brüder? Wenn ihr zusammenkommt, so hat ein jeglicher Psalmen, er hat eine Lehre, er hat Zungen, er hat Offenbarung, er hat Auslegung. Lasset es alles geschehen zur Besserung!
What is then to be done, my brethren? when ye come together, if any of you hath a psalm, a doctrine, a tongue, a revelation, an interpretation, ---let all be done for edification.
27 So jemand mit der Zunge redet oder zween oder aufs meiste' drei, eins ums andere; so lege es einer aus.
And if any one speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at most by three, and that by turns; and let one interpret.
28 Ist er aber nicht ein Ausleger, so schweige er unter der Gemeinde, rede aber sich selber, und Gott,
But if there be no interpreter, let him be silent in the assembly; and let him speak to himself and to God.
29 Die Weissager aber lasset reden, zween oder drei, und die andern lasset richten.
And let but two or three of the prophets speak, and the others judge.
30 So aber eine Offenbarung geschieht einem andern, der da sitzet, so schweige der erste.
And if any thing be revealed to another sitting by, let the first have done speaking before the other begins.
31 Ihr könnet wohl alle weissagen, einer nach dem andern, auf daß sie alle lernen und alle ermahnet werden.
For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
32 Und die Geister der Propheten sind den Propheten untertan.
And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets:
33 Denn Gott ist, nicht ein Gott der Unordnung, sondern des Friedens wie in allen Gemeinden der Heiligen.
for God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as we see in all the assemblies of the saints.
34 Eure Weiber lasset schweigen unter der Gemeinde; denn es soll ihnen nicht zugelassen werden, daß sie reden, sondern untertan sein, wie auch das Gesetz sagt.
Let your women be silent in your assemblies: for it is not permitted to them to speak, but they are to be in subjection, as the law saith.
35 Wollen sie aber etwas lernen, so lasset sie daheim ihre Männer fragen. Es stehet den Weibern übel an, unter der Gemeinde reden.
And if they would learn any thing, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it does not become women to speak in a public assembly.
36 Oder ist das Wort Gottes von euch auskommen, oder ist's allein zu euch kommen?
Did the word of God come out first from you? or did it come to you only?
37 So sich jemand lässet dünken, er sei ein Prophet oder geistlich, der erkenne, was ich euch schreibe; denn es sind des HERRN Gebote.
If any one seem to be a prophet, or acted by the Spirit, let him acknowlege that what I write to you are the commandments of the Lord.
38 Ist aber jemand unwissend, der sei, unwissend.
But if any will be ignorant, let him be ignorant.
39 Darum, liebe Brüder, fleißiget euch des Weissagens und wehret nicht, mit Zungen zu reden.
Wherefore, my brethren, be most desirous to prophesy, and yet forbid not to speak with tongues:
40 Lasset alles ehrlich und ordentlich zugehen!
but let all things be done decently and in order.
