Matthaeus 8
1 Als er aber vom Berge herabstieg, folgten ihm große Massen,
And when he had descended from the mountain, great crowds followed him.
2 und siehe, ein Aussätziger kam hinzu, warf sich vor ihm nieder und sprach: Herr, so du willst, kannst du mich reinigen.
And behold, a leper, drawing near, adored him, saying, “Lord, if you are willing, you are able to cleanse me.”
3 Und er streckte die Hand aus, und rührte ihn an mit den Worten: ich will es, werde rein. Und alsbald ward sein Aussatz gereinigt,
And Jesus, extending his hand, touched him, saying: “I am willing. Be cleansed.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4 und Jesus sagt zu ihm: siehe zu, daß du es niemand sagest; sondern gehe hin, zeige dich dem Priester und opfere die Gabe, welche Moses verordnet hat, zum Zeugnis für sie.
And Jesus said to him: “See to it that you tell no one. But go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses instructed, as a testimony for them.”
5 Als er aber nach Kapernaum kam, trat zu ihm ein Hauptmann, und bat ihn mit den Worten:
And when he had entered into Capernaum, a centurion approached, petitioning him,
6 Herr, mein Knecht liegt zu Hause gelähmt darnieder und hat große Qual.
and saying, “Lord, my servant lies at home paralyzed and badly tormented.”
7 Da sagt er zu ihm: ich will kommen und ihn heilen.
And Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”
8 Der Hauptmann aber anwortete: Herr, ich bin nicht genug, daß du unter mein Dach tretest; aber sprich nur ein Wort, so wird mein Knecht geheilt werden.
And responding, the centurion said: “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant shall be healed.
9 Bin ich doch ein Mensch in untergeordneter Stellung, aber unter mir habe ich Soldaten, und ich sage zu diesem: gehe hin, so geht er, zu einem andern: komme, so kommt er, und zu meinem Diener: thue das, so thut er's.
For I, too, am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
10 Als aber Jesus dies hörte, wunderte er sich und sagte zu denen, die ihm folgten: wahrlich ich sage euch, bei niemand in Israel habe ich solchen Glauben gefunden.
And, hearing this, Jesus wondered. And he said to those following him: “Amen I say to you, I have not found so great a faith in Israel.
11 Ich sage euch aber, es werden viele kommen von Morgen und Abend und werden zu Tische sitzen mit Abraham, Isaak und Jakob im Reich der Himmel.
For I say to you, that many shall come from the east and the west, and they shall sit at table with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
12 Die Söhne des Reiches aber werden hinausgeworfen werden in die Finsternis draußen, da wird sein Heulen und Zähneknirschen.
But the sons of the kingdom shall be cast into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
13 Und Jesus sagte zu dem Hauptmann: gehe hin; wie du geglaubet, so geschehe dir. Und der Knecht ward geheilt in dieser Stunde.
And Jesus said to the centurion, “Go, and just as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And the servant was healed at that very hour.
14 Und als Jesus in das Haus des Petrus kam, sah er dessen Schwiegermutter am Fieber darnieder liegen.
And when Jesus had arrived at the house of Peter, he saw his mother-in-law lying ill with a fever.
15 Und er berührte sie an der Hand, und das Fieber verließ sie, und sie stand auf und wartete ihm auf.
And he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose up and ministered to them.
16 Da es aber Abend geworden, brachten sie ihm viele Dämonische, und er trieb die Geister aus durchs Wort, und alle, die ein Leiden hatten, heilte er,
And when evening arrived, they brought to him many who had demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word. And he healed all those having maladies,
17 damit erfüllt würde was durch den Propheten Jesaias gesagt ist in dem Wort: Er nahm unsere Schwachheiten und unsere Krankheiten trug er.
in order to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah, saying, “He took our infirmities, and he carried away our diseases.”
18 Da aber Jesus große Massen um sich herum sah, hieß er an das jenseitige Ufer übersetzen.
Then Jesus, seeing the great crowds encircling him, gave orders to go across the sea.
19 Und ein Schriftgelehrter trat herzu und sagte zu ihm: Meister ich will dir folgen, wo du hingehst.
And one scribe, approaching, said to him, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you will go.”
20 Und Jesus sagte zu ihm: die Füchse haben Gruben und die Vögel des Himmels Nester; der Sohn des Menschen aber hat nicht, da er sein Haupt hinlege.
And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have dens, and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of man has nowhere to rest his head.”
21 Ein anderer aber von den Jüngern sagte zu ihm: Herr, erlaube mir erst hinzugehen und meinen Vater zu begraben.
Then another of his disciples said to him, “Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.”
22 Jesus aber sagt zu ihm: folge mir und laß die Toten ihre Toten begraben.
But Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and allow the dead to bury their dead.”
23 Und als er das Schiff bestieg, folgten ihm seine Jünger.
And climbing into a boat, his disciples followed him.
24 Und siehe, es erhob sich ein großer Sturm auf dem See, so daß die Wellen über das Schiff giengen; er aber schlief.
And behold, a great tempest occurred in the sea, so much so that the boat was covered with waves; yet truly, he was sleeping.
25 Und sie traten hinzu und weckten ihn mit den Worten: Herr, rette, wir gehen unter.
And his disciples drew near to him, and they awakened him, saying: “Lord, save us, we are perishing.”
26 Und er sagt zu ihnen: was seid ihr zaghaft, ihr Kleingläubige? Hierauf erhob er sich, schalt die Winde und den See, und es ward still und glatt.
And Jesus said to them, “Why are you afraid, O little in faith?” Then rising up, he commanded the winds, and the sea. And a great tranquility occurred.
27 Die Leute aber verwunderten sich und sagten: was ist das für ein Mann, daß selbst Wind und See ihm gehorchen?
Moreover, the men wondered, saying: “What kind of man is this? For even the winds and the sea obey him.”
28 Und als er hinüberkam in das Land der Gadarener, traten ihm von den Gräbern her zwei Dämonische entgegen, die so gefährlich waren, daß man nicht auf der Straße dort vorbeigehen konnte.
And when he had arrived across the sea, into the region of the Gerasenes, he was met by two who had demons, who were so exceedingly savage, as they went out from among the tombs, that no one was able to cross by that way.
29 Und siehe, sie schrien: was willst du von uns, du Sohn Gottes? bist du hierher gekommen, vor der Zeit uns zu quälen?
And behold, they cried out, saying: “What are we to you, O Jesus, the Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?”
30 Es war aber weit weg von ihnen eine große Herde Schweine auf der Weide;
Now there was, not far from them, a herd of many swine feeding.
31 die Dämonen aber baten ihn: wenn du uns austreibst, so sende uns in die Schweineherde.
Then the demons petitioned him, saying: “If you cast us from here, send us into the herd of swine.”
32 Und er sagte zu ihnen: gehet hin. Sie aber fuhren aus und in die Schweine; und siehe, die ganze Herde stürzte sich den Abhang hinab in den See, und sie kamen im Wasser um.
And he said to them, “Go.” And they, going out, went into the swine. And behold, the entire herd suddenly rushed along a steep place into the sea. And they died in the waters.
33 Die Hirten aber flohen, giengen in die Stadt und berichteten alles, auch das von den Dämonischen.
Then the shepherds fled, and arriving in the city, they reported on all this, and on those who had had the demons.
34 Und siehe, die ganze Stadt zog hinaus Jesus entgegen, und da sie ihn sahen, baten sie ihn, ihr Gebiet zu verlassen.
And behold, the entire city went out to meet Jesus. And having seen him, they petitioned him, so that he would cross from their borders.
