5 Mose 2
1 Hierauf machten wir kehrt und brachen auf nach der Steppe auf dem Wege zum Schilfmeere, wie uns Jahwe geboten hatte. Und als wir das Gebirge Seir schon eine lange Zeit umzogen hatten,
And we yeden forth fro thennus, and camen in to the wildirnesse that ledith to the Reed See, as the Lord seide to me; and we cumpassiden the hil of Seir in long tyme.
2 sprach Jahwe zu mir also:
And the Lord seide to me, It sufficith to you to cumpasse this hil;
3 Ihr habt nun lange genug dieses Gebirge umzogen; schlagt die Richtung nach Norden ein!
go ye ayens the north.
4 Und dem Volke gieb folgenden Befehl: Es steht euch der Durchzug durch das Gebiet eurer Brüder, der Söhne Esaus, die in Seir wohnen, bevor, und sie werden sich vor euch fürchten. Aber nehmt euch wohl in acht,
And comaunde thou to the puple, and seie, Ye schulen passe bi the termes of youre britheren, the sones of Esau, that dwellen in Seir, and thei schulen drede you.
5 daß ihr nicht Krieg mit ihnen anfangt; denn ich werde euch auch nicht einen Fuß breit von ihrem Lande geben, da ich das Gebirge Seir Esau zum Erbbesitze verliehen habe.
Therfor se ye diligentli, that ye be not moued ayens hem; for Y schal not yyue to you of the land `of hem as myche as the steppe of o foot may trede, for Y yaf the hil of Seir in to the possessioun of Esau.
6 Was ihr an Speise braucht, sollt ihr ihnen mit Geld abkaufen, damit ihr zu essen habt, und ebenso sollt ihr auch das nötige Wasser mit Geld von ihnen kaufen, damit ihr zu trinken habt.
Ye schulden bie of hem metis for money, and ye schulen ete; ye schulden drawe, and drynke watir bouyt.
7 Jahwe, dein Gott, hat dich ja in allem, was du unternommen hast, gesegnet. Er hat für deinen Marsch durch diese große Steppe Fürsorge getragen: vierzig Jahre sind es nun, daß Jahwe, dein Gott, mit dir ist; an nichts hat es dir gefehlt.
Thi Lord God blesside thee in al the werk of thin hondis; he knewe thi weye, hou thou passidist this moste wildirnesse, bi fourti yeer; and thi Lord God dwellide with thee, and no thing failide to thee.
8 Indem wir nun von unsern Brüdern, den Söhnen Esaus, die ihre Wohnsitze in Seir haben, den Weg in der Steppe von Elath und Eziongeber weg weiter zogen, marschierten wir weiter in der Richtung nach der Steppe Moabs.
And whanne we hadden passid bi oure britheren, the sones of Esau, that dwelliden in Seir, bi the weie of the feeld of Elath, and of Asiongaber, we camen to the weie that ledith in to deseert of Moab.
9 Da sprach Jahwe zu mir: Befehde die Moabiter nicht und laß dich in keinen Krieg mit ihnen ein; denn ich gebe dir von ihrem Lande nichts zum Eigentume, da ich Ar den Nachkommen Lots zum Erbbesitze verliehen habe.
And the Lord seide to me, Fiyte thou not ayens Moabitis, nether bigyn thou batel ayens hem, for Y schal not yyue to thee ony thing of the lond `of hem, for Y yaf Ar in to possessioun to `the sones of Loth.
10 Die Emiter wohnten vor Zeiten darin, Leute so groß, zahlreich und hochgewachsen, wie die Enakiter.
Emyn, `that is, griseful men, weren first dwelleris therof, a greet puple, and strong, and so hiy, that thei weren bileued as giantis,
11 Auch sie galten für Rephaiter, wie die Enatiter, und die Moabiter nannten sie Emiter.
of the generacioun of Enachym, and thei weren lijk the sones of Enachym; forsothe Moabitis clepen hem Emyn.
12 In Seir aber wohnten vor Zeiten die Horiter; an deren Stelle setzten sich die Söhne Esaus fest, nachdem sie sie vertrieben und ausgetilgt hatten, gerade wie die Israeliten mit dem Lande verfuhren, das ihnen Jahwe zum Erbbesitze verliehen hatte.
Forsothe Horreis dwelliden bifore in Seir, and whanne thei weren put out, and weren doon awey, `the sones of Esau dwelliden there, as Israel dide in the lond of his possessioun, which the Lord yaf to hym.
13 Macht euch nun auf und überschreitet den Bach Sared! Da überschritten wir den Bach Sared.
Therfor we riseden, that we schulden passe the stronde of Zared, and camen to it.
14 Achtunddreißig Jahre waren wir unterwegs von Kades-Barnea bis zur Überschreitung des Baches Sared, bis das ganze Geschlecht, die kriegstüchtige Mannschaft, aus dem Lager weggestorben war, wie Jahwe ihnen geschworen hatte.
Sotheli the tyme in whiche we yeden fro Cades Barne `til to the passynge of the stronde of Zared, was of eiyte and thretti yeer, til al the generacioun of `men fiyteris was wastid fro `the castels, as the Lord hadde swore; whos hond was ayens hem,
15 Die Hand Jahwes hatte selbst noch mitgeholfen, um sie bis auf den letzten Mann aus der Mitte des Lagers zu vertilgen.
that thei schulden perische fro the myddis of `the castels.
16 Alle kriegstüchtige Mannschaft war nun aus dem Volke hinweggestorben.
Forsothe after that alle the fiyteris felden doun,
17 Da redete Jahwe mit mir also:
the Lord spak to me, and seide,
18 Du bist jetzt auf dem Durchzuge durch das Gebiet der Moabiter, durch Ar, begriffen
Thou schalt passe to dai the termes of Moab,
19 und wirst in die nächste Nähe der Ammoniter kommen; befehde sie nicht und Iaß dich nicht mit ihnen in Streit ein! Denn ich werde dir von dem Lande der Ammoniter nichts zum Eigentume geben, da ich es den Nachkommen Lots zum Erbbesitze verliehen habe.
the cytee, Ar bi name, and thou schalt neiy in the nyy coost of the sones of Amon; be thou war that thou fiyte not ayens hem, nether be moued to batel; for Y schal not yyue to thee of the lond of the sones of Amon, for Y yaf it to the `sones of Loth in to possessioun.
20 Es gilt gleichfalls als ein Land der Rephaiter; vor Zeiten wohnten Rephaiter darin, und die Ammoniter nannten sie Samsummiter.
It is arettid the lond of giauntis, and giauntis enhabitiden therynne sumtyme, whiche giauntis Amonytis clepen Zonym;
21 Es waren Leute, so groß, zahlreich und hochgewachsen, wie die Enakiter. Jahwe aber vertilgte sie vor ihnen, so daß sie ihr Land einnahmen und sich an ihrer Stelle niederließen bis auf den heutigen Tag,
a myche puple and greet, and of noble lengthe, as Enachym, whiche the Lord dide awey fro the face of hem,
22 wie er auch für die Söhne Esaus that, die Seir bewohnen, indem er die Horiter vor ihnen vertilgte, so daß sie ihr Land einnahmen und sich an ihrer Stelle niederließen bis auf den heutigen Tag.
and made hem to dwelle for `tho giauntis, as he dide to the sones of Esau, that dwellen in Seire, `and dide awai Horreis, and yaf to hem the lond `of Horreis, which `the sones of Esau welden `til in to present tyme.
23 Auch die Aviter, die in Gehöften bis nach Gaza hin wohnten, wurden vertilgt von den Kaphtoritern, die aus Kaphtor kamen, und diese ließen sich an ihrer Stelle nieder.
Also men of Capadocie puttiden out Eueys, that dwelliden in Asseryn, `til to Gaza; which yeden out fro Capadocie, and diden awey Eueis, and dwelliden for hem.
24 Brecht nun auf und überschreitet den Arnonfluß. Siehe, ich gebe den Amoriter Sihon, den König zu Hesbon, samt seinem Land in deine Gewalt; beginne die Besetzung und überziehe ihn mit Krieg!
Rise ye, and `passe ye the stronde of Arnon; lo! Y haue bitake in `thin hond Seon, king of Esebon, of Amorreis; and his lond bigynne thou `to welde, and smyte thou batel ayens him.
25 Von jetzt an lege ich Furcht und Schrecken vor dir auf die Völker überall unter dem Himmel: Sobald sie nur von dir hören, werden sie vor dir zittern und beben.
To dai Y schal bigynne to sende thi drede and strengthe in to puplis that dwellen vndir al heuene, that whanne thi name is herd, thei drede, and tremble bi the maner of wymmen trauelynge of child, and `be holdun with sorewe.
26 Da schickte ich von der Steppe Kedemoth aus Gesandte mit folgenden friedlichen Worten an Sihon, den König zu Hesbon:
Therfor Y sente messangeris fro the wildirnesse of Cademoch to Seon, kyng of Esebon; and Y seide with pesible wordis,
27 Ich wünsche dein Land zu durchziehen, will aber immerfort nur auf der Straße bleiben, ohne zur Rechten oder zur Linken abzubiegen.
We schulen passe thorou thi lond, we schulen go in the comyn weie; we schulen not bowe nether to the riyt side, nether to the left side.
28 Nahrungsmittel sollst du mir für Geld verkaufen, damit ich zu essen, und Wasser sollst du mir für Geld liefern, damit ich zu trinken habe. Um nichts, als um den Weg für meine Füße zum Durchzug ersuche ich, -
Sille thow metis `to vs for prijs, that we ete; yif thow watir for money, and so we schulen drynke. Oneli it is that thou graunte passage to vs,
29 das haben mir ebenso die Söhne Esaus, die in Seir, und die Moabiter, die in Ar wohnen, gestattet, - bis ich über den Jordan in das Land hinüberziehen kann, das Jahwe, unser Gott, uns verleihen will.
as the sones of Esau diden, that dwellen in Seir, and as Moabitis diden, that dwellen in Ar, til we comen to Jordan, and passen to the lond which oure Lord God schal yyue to vs.
30 Aber Sihon, der König zu Hesbon, weigerte sich, uns den Durchzug zu gestatten, weil Jahwe, dein Gott, seinen Sinn unbeugsam und sein Herz verstockt gemacht hatte, damit er ihn in deine Gewalt gebe, wie es jetzt gekommen ist.
And Seon, kyng of Esebon, nolde yyue passage `to vs; for thi Lord God made hard his spirit, and made sad in yuel `the herte of hym, that he schulde be bitakun in to thin hondis, as thou seest now.
31 Da sprach Jahwe zu mir: Siehst du, ich habe dir bereits Sihon und sein Land preisgegeben; beginne nun mit der Besetzung, um sein Land in Besitz zu nehmen.
And the Lord seide to me, Lo, Y bigan to bitake to thee Seon, and his lond; bigynne thou to welde it.
32 Und als Sihon mit seinem gesamten Kriegsvolke gegen uns ausrückte, um uns bei Jahaz eine Schlacht zu liefern,
And Seon yede out ayens vs with al his puple to batel in Jasa.
33 gab ihn Jahwe, unser Gott, uns preis, so daß wir ihn samt seinen Söhnen und seinem gesamten Kriegsvolke besiegten.
And oure Lord God bitook hym to vs, and we han smyte hym with hise sones, and al his puple.
34 Damals nahmen wir auch alle seine Städte ein und vollstreckten in jeglicher Stadt an Männern, Weibern und Kindern den Bann; niemanden ließen wir entrinnen.
And we token in that tyme alle the citees, whanne the dwelleris of tho citees, men, and wymmen, and children weren slayn; we leften not in hem ony thing,
35 Nur das Vieh und den Raub aus den von uns eingenommenen Städten behielten wir für uns als Beute.
outakun beestis that camen in to the part of men takynge prey, and outakun spuylis of the cytees whiche we tokun.
36 Von Aroer am Ufer des Arnonflusses und von der Stadt im Thale bis nach Gilead war kein fester Platz, der uns zu steil gewesen wäre; alles gab Jahwe, unser Gott, uns preis.
Fro Aroer, which is on the brenke of the stronde of Arnon, fro the toun which is set in the valey, `til to Galaad, no town was ether citee, that ascapide oure hondis.
37 Nur ließest du das Land der Ammoniter unberührt, alles, was sich zur Seite des Jabokflusses befindet, die Städte im Gebirge und alles, was Jahwe, unser Gott, verboten hatte.
Oure Lord God bitook alle to vs; outakun the lond of the sones of Amon, to which lond we neiyiden not, and outakun alle thingis that liggen to the stronde of Jeboth, and outakun the citees of the munteyns, and alle places fro whiche oure Lord God forbeed vs.
