2 Samuel 7

1 Einmal nun, während der König in seinem Palaste wohnte - Jahwe hatte ihm nämlich Ruhe verschafft vor allen seinen Feinden ringsum -,

And it came to pass, when the king dwelt in his house, and the LORD had given him rest from all his enemies round about,

2 sprach der König zum Propheten Nathan: Bedenke doch, ich wohne in einem Cedernpalast und die Lade Gottes weilt hinter einem Zelttuch!

that the king said unto Nathan the prophet: 'See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.'

3 Nathan erwiderte dem Könige: Wohlan, führe aus, was du irgend im Sinne hast, denn Jahwe ist mit dir!

And Nathan said to the king: 'Go, do all that is in thy heart; for the LORD is with thee.'

4 Aber noch in derselben Nacht erging an Nathan folgender Befehl Jahwes:

And it came to pass the same night, that the word of the LORD came unto Nathan, saying:

5 Wohlan, sage meinem Knechte David: So spricht Jahwe: Solltest du mir ein Haus zu einer Wohnung bauen?

'Go and tell My servant David: Thus saith the LORD: Shalt thou build Me a house for Me to dwell in?

6 Habe ich doch in keinem Hause gewohnt seit der Zeit, da ich die Israeliten aus Ägypten herführte, bis zum heutigen Tage - vielmehr wanderte ich in einer Zeltwohnung umher.

for I have not dwelt in a house since the day that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.

7 Habe ich etwa, so lange ich bei allen Israeliten umherzog, zu einem der Richter Israels, denen ich den Auftrag gab, mein Volk Israel zu weiden, je ein Wort derart gesagt: Warum baut ihr mir keinen Cedernpalast?

In all places wherein I have walked among all the children of Israel, spoke I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed My people Israel, saying: Why have ye not built Me a house of cedar?

8 So sollst du denn jetzt meinem Knechte David verkünden: So spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen: Ich habe dich von der Weide hinter der Herde weggeholt, daß du Fürst über mein Volk Israel werden solltest,

Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto My servant David: Thus saith the LORD of hosts: I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be prince over My people, over Israel.

9 habe dir beigestanden in allem, was du unternommen hast, und habe alle deine Feinde vor dir her vertilgt; und ich will dir einen Namen schaffen gleich dem Namen der Größten auf Erden

And I have been with thee whithersoever thou didst go, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee; and I will make thee a great name, like unto the name of the great ones that are in the earth.

10 und werde meinem Volk Israel eine Stätte anweisen und es da einpflanzen, daß es an seiner Stätte wohnen kann und sich nicht mehr ängstigen muß, und gewaltthätige Menschen es ferner nicht mehr bedrücken wie vordem

And I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be disquieted no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as at the first,

11 seit der Zeit, da ich Richter über mein Volk Israel bestellte, und will ihm Ruhe verschaffen vor allen seinen Feinden: so kündigt dir denn Jahwe an, daß Jahwe dir ein Haus bauen wird.

even from the day that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel; and I will cause thee to rest from all thine enemies. Moreover the LORD telleth thee that the LORD will make thee a house.

12 Wenn deine Zeit voll ist, und du dich zu deinen Vätern legst, dann will ich deine Nachkommenschaft, die von deinem Leibe kommen wird, zu deiner Nachfolge bestimmen und will ihr Königtum bestätigen.

When thy days are fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, that shall proceed out of thy body, and I will establish his kingdom.

13 Sie soll meinem Namen ein Haus bauen, und ich will ihren Königsthron für immer bestätigen.

He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

14 Ich will ihr Vater, und sie soll mir Sohn sein, so daß, wenn sie sich verfehlt, ich sie mit Menschenruten und mit menschlichen Schlägen züchtige,

I will be to him for a father, and he shall be to Me for a son; if he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men;

15 aber meine Gnade ihr nicht entziehe, wie ich sie deinem Vorgänger entzogen habe.

but My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.

16 Vielmehr soll dein Königshaus für immer vor mir Bestand haben: dein Thron soll für alle Zeiten feststehen!

And thy house and thy kingdom shall be made sure for ever before thee; thy throne shall be established for ever.'

17 Genau diesen Worten und diesem Gesichte gemäß redete denn Nathan zu David.

According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

18 Da ging der König David hinein, setzte sich vor Jahwe nieder und rief: Wer bin ich, o Herr Jahwe, und was ist mein Haus, daß du mich bis hierher gebracht hast?

Then David the king went in, and sat before the LORD; and he said: 'Who am I, O Lord GOD, and what is my house, that Thou hast brought me thus far?

19 Und das genügte dir noch nicht, o Herr Jahwe, vielmehr hast du deine Zusage auch auf das Haus deines Sklaven erstreckt und zwar auf weit hinaus, und du ließest mich schauen Geschlechter der Menschen, o Herr Jahwe.

And this was yet a small thing in Thine eyes, O Lord GOD; but Thou hast spoken also of Thy servant's house for a great while to come; and this too after the manner of great men, O Lord GOD.

20 Aber was soll David noch weiter zu dir sagen? Du selbst kennst ja deinen Sklaven, o Herr Jahwe!

And what can David say more unto Thee? for Thou knowest Thy servant, O Lord GOD.

21 Um deines Sklaven willen und deinem Herzen nach thatest du das, daß du deinem Sklaven alles dies Herrliche verkündigtest.

For Thy word's sake, and according to Thine own heart, hast Thou wrought all this greatness, to make Thy servant know it.

22 Deshalb bist du mächtig, o Herr Jahwe, denn niemand ist dir gleich und kein Gott außer dir nach alledem, was wir mit eigenen Ohren gehört haben.

Therefore Thou art great, O LORD God; for there is none like Thee, neither is there any God beside Thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

23 Und wo gleicht auf Erden deinem Volke Israel ein anderes Volk, das ein Gott sich zum Volke zu erkaufen gegangen wäre, sowie ihm einen Namen zu schaffen, ihnen Großes und Furchtbares zu erweisen, vor seinem Volke ein anderes Volk und seinen Gott zu vertreiben?

And who is like Thy people, like Israel, a nation one in the earth, whom God went to redeem unto Himself for a people, and to make Him a name, and to do for Thy land great things and tremendous, even for you, in driving out from before Thy people, whom Thou didst redeem to Thee out of Egypt, the nations and their gods?

24 Aber du hast dir dein Volk Israel für alle Zeiten zu deinem Volke bestätigt und du, Jahwe, bist ihr Gott geworden.

And Thou didst establish to Thyself Thy people Israel to be a people unto Thee for ever; and Thou, LORD, becamest their God.

25 Aber nun, o Herr Jahwe, mache die Zusage, die du in betreff deines Sklaven und seines Hauses gegeben hast, wahr für alle Zeiten und thue, wie du geredet hast!

And now, O LORD God, the word that Thou hast spoken concerning Thy servant, and concerning his house, confirm Thou it for ever, and do as Thou hast spoken.

26 Dann wird dein Name für alle Zeiten berühmt sein und lauten: Jahwe der Heerscharen, Gott über Israel, - und das Haus deines Sklaven David wird vor dir Bestand haben.

And let Thy name be magnified for ever, that it may be said: The LORD of hosts is God over Israel; and the house of Thy servant David shall be established before Thee.

27 Denn du, Jahwe der Heerscharen, Gott Israels, hast deinem Sklaven die Eröffnung gemacht: Ich will dir ein Haus bauen! - darum hat dein Sklave sich ein Herz gefaßt, dieses Gebet dir vorzutragen.

For Thou, O LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, hast revealed to Thy servant, saying: I will build thee a house; therefore hath Thy servant taken heart to pray this prayer unto Thee.

28 Nun denn, o Herr Jahwe, du bist Gott, und deine Worte sind Wahrheit: nachdem du deinem Sklaven diese herrliche Zusage gemacht hast,

And now, O Lord GOD, Thou alone art God, and Thy words are truth, and Thou hast promised this good thing unto Thy servant;

29 nun denn, laß es dir gefallen und segne das Haus deines Sklaven, daß es für immer vor dir bestehe! Denn du, o Herr Jahwe, hast gesprochen, und durch deinen Segen wird das Haus deines Sklaven ewig gesegnet sein.

now therefore let it please Thee to bless the house of Thy servant, that it may continue for ever before Thee; for Thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it; and through Thy blessing let the house of Thy servant be blessed for ever.'
