2 Chronik 15

1 Da nun kam der Geist Gottes über Asarja, den Sohn Obeds,

And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:

2 und er ging hinaus, trat vor Asa und sprach zu ihm: Hört mich, Asa und ihr Judäer und Benjaminiten insgesamt! Jahwe ist mit euch, wenn ihr zu ihm haltet! Wenn ihr ihn sucht, so wird er sich von euch finden lassen; wenn ihr ihn aber verlaßt, so wird er euch auch verlassen!

and he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: Jehovah is with you, while ye are with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

3 Aber lange Zeit war Israel ohne den wahren Gott, ohne Priester, die es belehrten, und ohne Gesetz.

Now for a long season Israel was without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law:

4 Dann aber bekehrte es sich in seiner Not zu Jahwe, dem Gott Israels; und da sie ihn suchten, ließ er sich von ihnen finden.

but when in their distress they turned unto Jehovah, the God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.

5 In jenen Zeiten aber gab es keine Sicherheit für die Aus- und Eingehenden, vielmehr lastete auf allen Bewohnern dieser Landstriche große Beunruhigung.

And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in; but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the lands.

6 Ein Volk wurde gehen das andere gestoßen und eine Stadt gegen die andere, denn Gott beunruhigte sie durch allerlei Trübsal.

And they were broken in pieces, nation against nation, and city against city; for God did vex them with all adversity.

7 Ihr aber, seid mutig und laßt eure Hände nicht sinken, denn euer Thun wird seinen Lohn finden!

But be ye strong, and let not your hands be slack; for your work shall be rewarded.

8 Als nun Asa diese Worte und die Weissagung vernahm, da ermannte er sich und schaffte aus dem ganzen Lande Juda und Benjamin und den Städten, die er auf dem Gebirge Ephraim erobert hatte, die Scheusale hinweg und erneuerte den Jahwealtar, der vor der Vorhalle Jahwes stand.

And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominations out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from the hill-country of Ephraim; and he renewed the altar of Jehovah, that was before the porch of Jehovah.

9 Sodann versammelte er ganz Juda und Benjamin und diejenigen aus Ephraim, Manasse und Simeon, die als Fremdlinge bei ihnen weilten; denn es waren aus Israel eine Menge Leute zu ihm übergegangen, da sie sahen, daß Jahwe, sein Gott, mit ihm war.

And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and them that sojourned with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that Jehovah his God was with him.

10 Und sie versammelten sich zu Jerusalem im dritten Monat des fünfzehnten Jahres der Regierung Asas

So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.

11 und schlachteten Jahwe an jenem Tage von der Beute, die sie heimgebracht hatten, siebenhundert Rinder und siebentausend Schafe.

And they sacrificed unto Jehovah in that day, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.

12 Und sie verpflichteten sich feierlich, sich von ganzem Herzen und von ganzer Seele an Jahwe, den Gott ihrer Väter, halten zu wollen;

And they entered into the covenant to seek Jehovah, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and with all their soul;

13 und wer irgend sich nicht an Jahwe, den Gott Israels, halten würde, der sollte getötet werden, er sei klein oder groß, Mann oder Weib.

and that whosoever would not seek Jehovah, the God of Israel, should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

14 Und so schwuren sie Jahwe mit lauter Stimme und jauchzendem Ruf unter Trompeten- und Posaunenschall.

And they sware unto Jehovah with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.

15 Und ganz Juda war voller Freude über den Schwur; denn sie hatten von ganzem Herzen geschworen und ihn mit aufrichtigem Verlangen gesucht, und so ließ sich Jahwe von ihnen finden und verschaffte ihnen ringsumher Ruhe.

And all Judah rejoiced at the oath; for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and Jehovah gave them rest round about.

16 Ja, er setzte sogar Maacha, die Mutter des Königs Asa, von der Würde als Herrin ab, weil sie der Aschera ein Schandbild angefertigt hatte. Und Asa hieb ihr Schandbild um, zermalmte es und verbrannte es im Kidronthale.

And also Maacah, the mother of Asa the king, he removed from being queen, because she had made an abominable image for an Asherah; and Asa cut down her image, and made dust of it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.

17 Die Höhen wurden zwar in Israel nicht abgeschafft, doch war das Herz Asas ungeteilt sein Leben lang.

But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

18 Auch ließ er, was sein Vater geweiht hatte, sowie seine eigenen Weihgeschenke in den Tempel Gottes bringen - Silber, Gold und Geräte.

And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.

19 Und es war kein Krieg bis zum fünfunddreißigsten Jahre der Regierung Asas.

And there was no more war unto the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa.
