1 Da sprach Elia, der Thisbiter, aus Thisbe in Gilead, zu Ahab: So wahr Jahwe lebt, der Gott Israels, in dessen Dienst ich stehe: es soll diese Jahre weder Tau noch Regen kommen, außer ich selbst kündige es an!
And Elie `of Thesbi, of the dwelleris of Galaad, seide to Achab, The Lord God of Israel lyueth, in whos siyt Y stonde, deeu and reyn schal not be in these yeeris, no but bi the wordis of my mouth.
2 Und es erging an ihn das Wort Jahwes also:
And the word of the Lord was maad to hym, and seide,
3 Gehe von hinnen und wende dich ostwärts und verbirg dich am Bache Krith, der östlich vom Jordan fließt.
Go thou awey fro hennus, and go ayens the eest, and be thou hid in the stronde of Carith, which is ayens Jordan,
4 Aus dem Bache nämlich sollst du trinken, und den Raben habe ich befohlen, dich daselbst zu versorgen.
and there thou schalt drynke of the stronde; and Y comaundide to crowis, that thei feede thee there.
5 Da that er nach dem Geheiße Jahwes, ging hin und blieb am Bache Krith, der östlich vom Jordan fließt.
Therfor he yede, and dide bi the word of the Lord; and whanne he hadde go, he sat in the stronde of Carith, which is ayens Jordan.
6 Und die Raben brachten ihm beständig Brot und Fleisch am Morgen und Brot und Fleisch am Abend, und aus dem Bache trank er.
And crowis baren to hym breed and fleisch eerli; in lijk maner in the euentid; and he drank of the stronde.
7 Nach einiger Zeit aber versiegte der Bach, denn es hatte im Lande nicht geregnet.
Forsothe after summe daies the stronde was dried; for it hadde not reynede on the erthe.
8 Da erging das Wort Jahwes an ihn also:
Therfor the word of the Lord was maad to hym, and seide,
9 Auf, begieb dich nach Zarpath, das zu Sidon gehört, und bleibe daselbst; ich habe einer Witwe dort Befehl gegeben, dich zu versorgen.
Rise thou, and go in to Serepta of Sydoneis, and thou schalt dwelle there; for Y comaundide to a womman, widewe there, that sche feede thee.
10 Da brach er auf und begab sich nach Zarpath, und als er an den Eingang zur Stadt gelangte, war da gerade eine Witwe mit dem Auflesen von Holzstückchen beschäftigt. Da rief er sie an und bat: Hole mir doch ein wenig Wasser in einem Gefäße, daß ich trinke!
He roos, and yede in to Sarepta of Sidoneis; and whanne he hadde come to the yate of the citee, a womman widewe gaderynge stickis apperide to hym; and he clepide hir, and seide to hir, Yyue thou to me a litil of water in a vessel, that Y drynke.
11 Als sie nun hinging, es zu holen, rief er ihr nach und bat: Bringe mir doch auch einen Bissen Brot mit!
And whanne sche yede to bringe, he criede bihynde hir bac, and seide, Y biseche, bringe thou to me also a mussel of breed in thin hond.
12 Sie aber sprach: So wahr Jahwe, dein Gott, lebt, ich habe nichts Gebackenes, sondern nur eine Handvoll Mehl im Topf und ein wenig Öl im Kruge. Eben lese ich nun ein paar Holzstückchen auf; dann will ich heimgehen und es für mich und meinen Sohn zurichten, und wenn wir es verzehrt haben, so wollen wir alsdann sterben!
And sche answeride, Thi Lord God lyueth, for Y haue no breed, no but as myche of mele in a pot, as a fist may take, and a litil of oile in a vessel; lo! Y gadere twei stickis, that Y entre, and make it to me, and to my sone, that we ete and die.
13 Elia aber sprach zu ihr: Sei unbesorgt! Geh heim und thue, wie du gesagt hast; doch bereite mir davon zuerst einen kleinen Fladen und bringe mir ihn heraus. Für dich aber und für deinen Sohn magst du darnach welche bereiten.
And Elie seide to hir, Nyle thou drede, but go, and make as thou seidist; netheles make thou firste to me of that litil mele a litil loof, bakun vndur the aischis, and brynge thou to me; sotheli thou schalt make afterward to thee and to thi sone.
14 Denn so spricht Jahwe, der Gott Israels: Das Mehl im Topfe soll nicht zu Ende gehen und das Öl im Kruge soll nicht ausgehen bis auf den Tag, da Jahwe auf den Erdboden Regen senden wird.
Forsothe the Lord God of Israel seith thes thingis, The pot of mele schal not faile, and the vessel of oile schal not be abatid, til to the dai in which the Lord schal yyue reyn on the face of erthe.
15 Da ging sie hin und that, wie Elia gesagt hatte, und sie hatte zu essen, sie und er und ihr Sohn Tag für Tag.
And sche yede, and dide bi the word of Elie; and he eet, and sche, and hir hows.
16 Das Mehl im Topfe ging nicht zu Ende, und das Öl im Kruge ging nicht aus, nach dem Worte Jahwes, das er durch Elia geredet hatte.
And fro that dai the pot of mele failide not, and the vessel of oile was not abatid, bi the word of the Lord, which he hadde spoke in the hond of Elie.
17 Nach diesen Begebenheiten aber ward der Sohn des Weibes, der das Haus gehörte, krank, und seine Krankheit steigerte sich so sehr, daß kein Odem mehr in ihm blieb.
Forsothe it was doon aftir these wordis, the sone of a womman hosewijf was sijk, and the sijknesse was moost strong, so that breeth dwellide not in hym.
18 Da sprach sie zu Elia: Was habe ich mit dir zu schaffen, du Mann Gottes? Du bist doch nur zu mir hereingekommen, um Gott an meine Verschuldung zu erinnern und dadurch meinen Sohn umzubringen!
Therfor sche seide to Elie, What to me and to thee, thou man of God? Entridist thou to me, that my wickidnessis schulden be remembrid, and that thou schuldist sle my sone?
19 Er aber sprach zu ihr: Gieb mir deinen Sohn her! Hierauf nahm er ihn von ihrem Schoße, trug ihn hinauf ins Obergemach, in welchem er wohnte, und legte ihn auf sein Bette.
And Elie seide to hir, Yyue thi sone to me. And he took `that sone fro hir bosum, and bar in to the soler, where he dwellide; and he puttide hym on his bed.
20 Sodann rief er Jahwe an und sprach: Jahwe, mein Gott, hast du sogar der Witwe, bei der ich zu Gaste bin, so übel gethan, daß du ihren Sohn tötetest?
And he criede to the Lord, and seide, My Lord God, whether thou hast turmentid also the widewe, at whom Y am susteyned in al maner, that thou killidist hir sone?
21 Darauf streckte er sich dreimal über den Knaben hin und rief Jahwe an und sprach: Jahwe, mein Gott, laß doch das Leben dieses Knaben in ihn zurückkehren!
He sprad abrood hym silf, and mat on the child bi thre tymes; and he cryede to the Lord, and seide, My Lord God, Y biseche, the soule of this child turne ayen in to the entrailis of hym.
22 Und Jahwe hörte auf das Rufen Elias, und der Lebensodem des Knaben kehrte in ihn zurück, so daß er wieder lebendig ward.
The Lord herde the vois of Elie, and the soule of the child turnede ayen with ynne hym, and he lyuede ayen.
23 Elia aber nahm den Knaben, brachte ihn vom Obergemach hinab ins Haus und übergab ihn seiner Mutter. Und Elia sprach: Siehe da, dein Sohn lebt!
And Elie took the child, and puttide hym doun of the soler in to the lower hows, and bitook him to his modir; and he seide to hir, Lo! thi sone lyueth.
24 Da sprach das Weib zu Elia: Ja, nun weiß ich, daß du ein Gottesmann bist, und das Wort Jahwes in deinem Munde ist Wahrheit!
And the womman seide to Elie, Now in this Y haue knowe, that thou art the man of God, and the word of God is soth in thi mouth.
