1 Chronik 11
1 Da versammelten sich alle Israeliten zu David und sprachen: Wir sind ja dein Fleisch und Bein!
Then all Israel gathered themselves to David to Hebron, saying, “Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.
2 Schon längst, als Saul noch König war, bist du es gewesen, der Israel ins Feld und wieder heim führte; dazu hat Jahwe, dein Gott, dir zugesagt: Du sollst mein Volk Israel weiden und du sollst Fürst über mein Volk Israel sein!
In times past, even when Saul was king, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. The LORD your God said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over my people Israel.’”
3 Da kamen alle Vornehmen Israels zum Könige nach Hebron, und David schloß in Hebron vor Jahwes Angesicht einen Vertrag mit ihnen; dann salbten sie David zum König über Israel, gemäß dem Befehle Jahwes, der durch Samuel ergangen war.
So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD. They anointed David king over Israel, according to the LORD’s word by Samuel.
4 Als aber David und ganz Israel gegen Jerusalem anrückte - das ist Jebus, und dort waren die Jebusiter, die ursprünglichen Bewohner des Landes -,
David and all Israel went to Jerusalem (also called Jebus); and the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, were there.
5 da hielten die Bewohner von Jebus David entgegen: Hier dringst du nicht ein! Aber David erstürmte die Burg Zion, das ist die Stadt Davids.
The inhabitants of Jebus said to David, “You will not come in here!” Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion. The same is David’s city.
6 Damals sprach David: Jeder, der zuerst die Jebusiter schlägt, soll Hauptmann und Anführer sein! Da stieg zuerst Joab, der sohn Zerujas, hinauf und ward Hauptmann.
David had said, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain.” Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, and was made chief.
7 Hierauf ließ sich David in der Burg nieder; darum nannte man sie Stadt Davids.
David lived in the stronghold; therefore they called it David’s city.
8 Und er befestigte die Stadt ringsum vom Millo an bis zum Umkreis; Joab aber stellte die übrige Stadt wieder her.
He built the city all around, from Millo even around; and Joab repaired the rest of the city.
9 Und David nahm immer mehr an Macht zu, und Jahwe der Heerscharen war mit ihm.
David grew greater and greater, for the LORD of Hosts was with him.
10 Und dies sind die Vornehmsten der Helden Davids, die ihm bei seiner Erhebung zur Königswürde kräftig beistanden, im Verein mit dem ganzen Israel, um ihn gemäß dem Befehle Jahwes an Israel zum Könige zu machen.
Now these are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who showed themselves strong with him in his kingdom, together with all Israel, to make him king, according to the LORD’s word concerning Israel.
11 Und dies ist die Anzahl der Helden Davids: Jasobeam, der Sohn Hachmonis, das Haupt der drei. Er schwang seinen Speer über dreihundert Erschlagenen auf einmal.
This is the number of the mighty men whom David had: Jashobeam, the son of a Hachmonite, the chief of the thirty; he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them at one time.
12 Und nach ihm kommt Eleasar, der Sohn Dodos, der Ahohither; auch er war unter den drei vornehmsten Helden.
After him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighty men.
13 Er war mit David in Pasdammim, während die Philister sich dort zur Schlacht versammelt hatten. Es war aber dort ein Stück Feld von Gerste. Als aber die Leute vor den Philistern flohen,
He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where there was a plot of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.
14 stellten sie sich mitten auf das Feld, entrissen es den Feinden und schlugen die Philister, so daß Jahwe zu einem großen Siege verhalf.
They stood in the middle of the plot, defended it, and killed the Philistines; and the LORD saved them by a great victory.
15 Einst kamen drei von den dreißig Obersten zu David nach dem Felsennest hinab, nach der Feste Adullam, während das Heer der Philister in der Ebene Rephaim lagerte.
Three of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the army of the Philistines were encamped in the valley of Rephaim.
16 Damals befand sich David in der Feste, während sich die Besatzung der Philister gleichzeitig in Bethlehem befand.
David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was in Bethlehem at that time.
17 Da verspürte David ein Gelüste und rief: Wer schafft mir Trinkwasser aus der Cisterne, die in Bethlehem am Stadtthore liegt?
David longed, and said, “Oh, that someone would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!”
18 Da schlugen sich die drei durch das Lager der Philister durch, schöpften aus der Cisterne, die in Bethlehem am Stadtthore lag, Wasser und brachten es David hin. Aber David verschmähte es zu trinken, sondern goß es aus als Trankopfer für Jahwe
The three broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate, took it, and brought it to David; but David would not drink any of it, but poured it out to the LORD,
19 mit den Worten: Bewahre mich mein Gott davor, daß ich so etwas thun sollte! Ich sollte das Blut dieser Helden trinken, die mit Daransetzung ihres Lebens hingegangen sind? Denn mit Daransetzung ihres Lebens haben sie es hergebracht! - und trank es durchaus nicht. das thaten die drei Helden.
and said, “My God forbid me, that I should do this! Shall I drink the blood of these men who have put their lives in jeopardy?” For they risked their lives to bring it. Therefore he would not drink it. The three mighty men did these things.
20 Absai, der Bruder Joabs, der war das Haupt der dreißig. Er schwang seinen Speer über dreihundert Erschlagenen und war berühmt unter den dreißig.
Abishai, the brother of Joab, was chief of the three; for he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them, and had a name amongst the three.
21 Unter den dreißig, da stand er in Ehren und war ihr Anführer, aber an die drei reichte er nicht.
Of the three, he was more honourable than the two, and was made their captain; however he wasn’t included in the three.
22 Benaja, der Sohn Jehojadas, ein tapferer Mann, groß von Thaten, stammte aus Kabzeel. Er erschlug die beiden Söhne Ariels aus Moab. Derselbe erschlug, als einmal Schnee gefallen war, einen Löwen drunten in einer Cisterne.
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in the middle of a pit on a snowy day.
23 Derselbe erschlug auch den Ägypter, einen riesigen Mann von fünf Ellen Höhe. Der Ägypter hatte einen Speer in der Hand so stark wie ein Weberbaum; er aber ging mit einem Stock auf ihn los, riß dem Ägypter den Speer aus der Hand und erlegte ihn mit seinem Speer.
He killed an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high. In the Egyptian’s hand was a spear like a weaver’s beam; and he went down to him with a staff, plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and killed him with his own spear.
24 Solche Thaten verrichtete Benaja, der Sohn Jehojadas, und er war berühmt unter den dreißig Helden.
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did these things and had a name amongst the three mighty men.
25 Unter den dreißig - da stand er in Ehren, aber an die drei reichte er nicht. David stellte ihn an die Spitze seiner Leibwache.
Behold, he was more honourable than the thirty, but he didn’t attain to the three; and David set him over his guard.
26 Und die tapferen Helden waren: Asahel, der Bruder Joabs, Elhanan, der Sohn Dodos, von Bethlehem,
The mighty men of the armies also include Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,
27 Sammoth aus Haror, Helez aus Palon,
Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,
28 Ira, der Sohn des Ikkes, aus Thekoa, Abieser aus Anathoth,
Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abiezer the Anathothite,
29 Sibbechai aus Husa, Ilai aus Ahoh,
Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,
30 Maharai aus Netopha, Heled, der Sohn Baanas, aus Netopha,
Maharai the Netophathite, Heled the son of Baanah the Netophathite,
31 Ithai, der Sohn Ribais, aus dem Gibea der Benjaminiten, Benaja aus Pireathon,
Ithai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin, Benaiah the Pirathonite,
32 Hurai aus Nahale-Gaas, Abiel aus Araba,
Hurai of the brooks of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite,
33 Asmaweth aus Bahurim, Eljahba aus Saalbon,

Adina the son of Shiza the Reubenite (a chief of the Reubenites), and thirty with him,

Jediael the son of Shimri, and Joha his brother, the Tizite,
46 Eliel aus Mahanaim und Jeribai und Josawja, die Söhne Elnaams, und Jithma, der Moabiter.

47 Eliel, Obed Jaasiel der Mezobaja.
