Psalm 61

1 Auf den Siegesspender, mit Saitenspiel, von David. "Hör, Gott, mein Rufen! Vernimm mein Flehen!

For the end, among the Hymns of David. O God, hearken to my petition; attend to my prayer.

2 Ich rufe von des Landes Grenze zu Dir in meiner Herzensnot: Auf einen Felsen führe mich, der sonst für mich zu hoch!"

From the ends of the earth have I cried to thee, when my heart was in trouble: thou liftedst me up on a rock thou didst guide me:

3 Denn Du bist meine Zuversicht, ein fester Turm vorm Feinde.

because thou wert my hope, a tower of strength from the face of the enemy.

4 In Deinem Zelte laß mich ewig weilen, mich bergen in dem Schatten Deiner Flügel! (Sela)

I will dwell in thy tabernacle for ever; I will shelter myself under the shadow of thy wings. (Pause)

5 Wenn du auf mein Gelübde hörest, Gott, und denen ihr Begehr erfüllst, die Deinen Namen fürchten,

For thou, o God, hast heard my prayers; thou hast given an inheritance to them that fear thy name.

6 dann füg des Königs Tagen viele andere zu! Dann seien seine Jahre lang, wie nur in der Geschlechterreihe!

Thou shalt add days to the days of the king; [thou shalt lengthen] his years to all generations.

7 Er throne ewiglich vor Gottes Angesicht! Und Lieb und Treue mögen ihn beschützen!

He shall endure for ever before God: which of them will seek out his mercy and truth?

8 Dann will ich Deinem Namen immerdar lobsingenund mein Gelübde Tag für Tag einlösen.

So will I sing to thy name for ever and ever, that I may daily perform my vows.
