Psalm 56
1 Auf den Siegesspender, für den unschuldigen Zugewanderten in der Ferne, von David, ein Weihegesang, als ihn die Philister zu Gath festhielten. Gott! Sei mir gnädig! Denn Menschen schnauben wider mich, und täglich ängstigt mich mein Feind.
For the Chief Musician; set to Jonath elem rehokim. [A Psalm] of David: Michtam: when the Philistines took him in Gath. Be merciful unto me, O God; for man would swallow me up: all the day long he fighting oppresseth me.
2 Ja, meine Feinde schnauben immerfort; denn viele streiten gegen mich.
Mine enemies would swallow me up all the day long: for they be many that fight proudly against me.
3 Jedoch der Tag ist weit entfernt, da ich mich fürchte; denn auf Dich vertraue ich.
What time I am afraid, I will put my trust in thee.
4 Ich rühme mich der Gotteszusage; furchtlos vertraue ich auf Gott. Was können Sterbliche mir tun?
In God I will praise his word: in God have I put my trust, I will not be afraid; what can flesh do unto me?
5 Und fechten sie auch täglich meine Worte an, sind alle ihre Pläne, mir zum Schaden, böse,
All the day long they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.
6 sie müssen doch sich fürchten und verkriechen und so auf meine Schritte lauschen, wie sie's von mir erwartet haben.
They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, even as they have waited for my soul.
7 Verstoße sie des Frevels wegen! Die Scharen stürze hin im Grimme, Gott!
Shall they escape by iniquity? in anger cast down the peoples, O God.
8 Vermerkst Du schon mein Schwanken, dann lege meine Tränen auch in Deinen Schlauch, voll angerechnet!
Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle; are they not in thy book?
9 Dann weichen meine Feinde. Am Tage, da ich rufe, weiß ich, daß ich einen Gott besitze.
Then shall mine enemies turn back in the day that I call: this I know, that God is for me.
10 Ich rühme mich der Gotteszusage; ich rühme mich der Zusage des Herrn.
In God will I praise [his] word: in the LORD will I praise [his] word.
11 Furchtlos vertraue ich auf Gott. Was kann ein Mensch mir antun? -
In God have I put my trust, I will not be afraid; what can man do unto me?
12 Ich schulde Dir Gelübde, Gott; ich zahle sie Dir heim mit Dankbarkeit.
Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render thank offerings unto thee.
13 Denn meine Seele wahrst Du vor dem Tod, nicht wahr? vorm Sturze meine Füße. So kann ich länger noch vor Gott im Licht des Lebens wallen.
For thou hast delivered my soul from death: [hast thou] not [delivered] my feet from falling? that I may walk before God in the light of the living.
