Nehemia 8
1 Da versammelte sich wie ein Mann das ganze Volk auf dem Platz vor dem Wassertor. Sie baten den Schreiber Ezra, das Buch der Lehre Mosis herzubringen, die der Herr Israel gegeben.
all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the broad place that was before the water gate; and they spoke unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the Law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.
2 Der Priester Ezra (das ist Esdras) brachte die Lehre vor die Gemeinde, die Männer und Weiber, vor alle, die zuzuhören verstanden, am ersten Tage des siebten Monats.
And Ezra the priest brought the Law before the congregation, both men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.
3 Er las daraus auf dem Platz vor dem Wassertor von Tagesanbruch bis zum Mittag den Männern, Weibern und allen, die es verstanden, vor. Und das Volk lauschte gespannt dem Buch der Lehre.
And he read therein before the broad place that was before the water gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women, and of those that could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive unto the book of the Law.
4 Der Schreiber Ezra aber trat auf einen hölzernen Turm, den man zum Reden gemacht hatte. Mattia, Sema, Ananja und Uria, Chilkia und Maaseja stellten sich neben ihn zu seiner Rechten, zu seiner linken Seite aber Pedaja, Misael, Malkia, Chasum, Chasladdana, Zekarja und Mesullam.
And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Uriah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchijah, and Hashum, and Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
5 Ezra öffnete nun das Buch vor den Augen des ganzen Volkes; denn er stand höher als das ganze Volk. Als er es öffnete, ward es im ganzen Volke still.
And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people — for he was above all the people — and when he opened it, all the people stood up.
6 Da pries Ezra den Herrn, den großen Gott, und alles Volk sprach unter Händefalten: "Amen." Dann warfen sie sich nieder und beugten vor dem Herrn das Angesicht zur Erde.
And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people answered: 'Amen, Amen', with the lifting up of their hands; and they bowed their heads, and fell down before the LORD with their faces to the ground.
7 Jesua und Bani und Serebja, Jamin, Akkub, Sabtai, sowie Hodia, Maaseja, Kelita, Azaria, Jozabad, Chanan, Pelaja und die Leviten erläuterten dem Volke die Lehre. Das Volk aber stand da.
Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, even the Levites, caused the people to understand the Law; and the people stood in their place.
8 Sie lasen aus dem Buche, aus der Lehre Gottes, in Übersetzung vor und gaben den Sinn an. So verstanden sie das Vorgelesene.
And they read in the book, in the Law of God, distinctly; and they gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
9 Da sprachen Nehemias, das ist der Tirsata, sowie der Priester und Schreiber Ezra und die Leviten, die das Volk belehrten, zum ganzen Volke: "Dieser Tag ist dem Herrn, eurem Gott, heilig. Trauert nicht und weinet nicht!" Denn das ganze Volk weinte, als es die Worte der Lehre hörte.
And Nehemiah, who was the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people: 'This day is holy unto the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep.' For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the Law.
10 Er sprach zu ihnen: "Auf! Esset fette Speisen! Trinkt süße Getränke! Und schickt denen Gaben, die nichts vorrätig haben! Denn heilig ist der Tag unserem Herrn. Seid nicht traurig! Die Freude am Herrn sei eure Zuversicht!"
Then he said unto them: 'Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto him for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy unto our Lord; neither be ye grieved; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.'
11 Auch die Leviten beruhigten das ganze Volk mit den Worten: "Seid still! Denn der Tag ist heilig. Seid nicht traurig!"
So the Levites stilled all the people, saying: 'Hold your peace, for the day is holy; neither be ye grieved.'
12 Da ging das ganze Volk daran, zu essen und zu trinken und Gaben zu verschicken und ein großes Freudenfest zu halten. Denn sie verstanden die Worte, die man sie gelehrt hatte.
And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them.
13 Am zweiten Tage versammelten sich die Stammeshäupter aus dem ganzen Volke, die Priester und die Leviten, bei dem Schreiber Ezra, um weiter den Worten der Lehre zu lauschen.
And on the second day were gathered together the heads of fathers' houses of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, unto Ezra the scribe, even to give attention to the words of the Law.
14 Da fanden sie in der Lehre geschrieben, daß der Herr durch Moses geboten habe, im siebten Monat sollten die Söhne Israels über die Festzeit in Laubhütten wohnen.
And they found written in the Law, how that the LORD had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month;
15 Sie sollten auch in ihren Städten und in Jerusalem verkünden lassen: "Zieht ins Gebirge und holt Zweige von edlen und wilden Ölbäumen, von Myrten und Palmen und anderen dichtbelaubten Bäumen, um vorschriftsmäßig Hütten zu machen!"
and that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities, and in Jerusalem, saying: 'Go forth unto the mount, and fetch olive branches, and branches of wild olive, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written.'
16 Da zog das Volk hinaus, holte es und machte sich Hütten, jeder auf seinem Dach oder im eigenen Hof, und in des Gotteshauses Höfen und auf dem Platz des Wassertores und auf dem Platz des Ephraimtores.
So the people went forth, and brought them, and made themselves booths, every one upon the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the broad place of the water gate, and in the broad place of the gate of Ephraim.
17 So machte die ganze Gemeinde, alle die aus der Gefangenschaft Zurückgekehrten, Hütten. Sie wohnten auch in den Hütten. Solche hatten seit der Zeit Josuas, des Sohnes Nuns, die Söhne Israels nicht mehr gemacht bis auf diesen Tag. Größte Freude herrschte darüber.
And all the congregation of them that were come back out of the captivity made booths, and dwelt in the booths; for since the days of Joshua the son of Nun unto that day had not the children of Israel done so. And there was very great gladness.
18 Man las aus dem Buche der Lehre Gottes Tag für Tag vor, vom ersten bis zum letzten Tag. So feierten sie das Fest sieben Tage. Am achten Tage aber war nach der Sitte geschlossene Versammlung.
Also day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he read in the book of the Law of God. And they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according unto the ordinance.
