1 Stammbaum Jesu Christi, des Sohnes Davids, des Sohnes Abrahams.
The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 Von Abraham stammt Isaak ab, von Isaak Jakob, von Jakob Juda und dessen Brüder,
Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
3 von Juda und der Thamar Phares und Zara, von Phares Esron, von Esron Aram,
And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;
4 von Aram Aminadab, von Aminadab Naasson, von Naasson Salmon,
And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;
5 von Salmon und der Rachab Booz, von Booz und der Ruth Obed, von Obed Jesse,
And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;
6 von Jesse David, der König. Von David und des Urias Weib stammt Salomon,
And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her [that had been the wife] of Urias;
7 von Salomon Roboam, von Roboam Abias, von Abias Asa,
And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;
8 von Asa Josaphat, von Josaphat Joram, von Joram Ozias,
And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias;
9 von Ozias Joatham, von Joatham Achas, von Achas Ezechias,
And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;
10 von Ezechias Manasses, von Manasses Amon, von Amon Josias,
And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;
11 von Josias Jechonias und dessen Brüder zur Zeit der babylonischen Gefangenschaft.
And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:
12 Nach der babylonischen Gefangenschaft ward Jechonias der Vater des Salathiel; von Salathiel stammt Zorobabel,
And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;
13 von Zorobabel Abiud, von Abiud Eliakim, von Eliakim Azor,
And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;
14 von Azor Sadok, von Sadok Achim, von Achim Eliud,
And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;
15 von Eliud Eleazar, von Eleazar Matthan, von Matthan Jakob,
And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;
16 von Jakob Joseph, der Mann Marias. Aus dieser ward Jesus geboren, der Christus genannt wird.
And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 Es sind demnach im ganzen von Abraham bis David 14 Geschlechter, von David bis zur babylonischen Gefangenschaft vierzehn Geschlechter, von der babylonischen Gefangenschaft bis auf Christus vierzehn Geschlechter.
So all the generations from Abraham to David [are] fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon [are] fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ [are] fourteen generations.
18 Mit der Geburt Jesu Christi verhielt es sich also: Maria, seine Mutter, war mit Joseph verlobt. Da fand es sich, noch ehe sie zusammenwohnten, daß sie durch den Heiligen Geist empfangen hatte.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Indes Joseph, ihr Mann, war rechtlich denkend und wollte sie nicht bloßstellen, und so gedachte er, sie im stillen zu entlassen.
Then Joseph her husband, being a just [man], and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 Noch trug er sich mit diesen Gedanken, siehe, da erschien ihm im Traum ein Engel des Herrn. Er sprach: "Joseph, Sohn Davids, trage kein Bedenken, Maria, dein Weib, zu dir ins Haus zu nehmen; denn, was in ihr erzeugt ist, stammt vom Heiligen Geist.
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 Sie wird einen Sohn gebären, dem du den Namen Jesus geben sollst; denn dieser wird sein Volk von seinen Sünden retten".
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Dies alles aber ist geschehen, damit erfüllt werde, was von dem Herrn durch den Propheten gesprochen ward, wenn er sagt:
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 "Siehe, die Jungfrau wird empfangen und einen Sohn gebären, und man wird ihn Emmanuel - d. h. 'Gott mit uns' - heißen".
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 Joseph stand auf vom Schlaf und tat, wie ihm der Engel des Herrn geboten hatte; er nahm sein Weib zu sich ins Haus.
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 Jedoch erkannte er sie nicht, bis sie ein Kind (das Erstgeborene) geboren hatte; und er gab ihm den Namen Jesus.
And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
