Markus 9
1 Und weiter sprach er zu ihnen: "Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Es stehen solche hier, die den Tod nicht kosten werden, bis sie das Gottesreich in Macht erscheinen sehen."
“I tell you,” he added, “that some of those who are standing here will not know death until they have seen the kingdom of God come in power.”
2 Sechs Tage später nahm Jesus den Petrus, Jakobus und Johannes mit sich und führte sie allein auf einen hohen Berg abseits. Und er ward verwandelt vor ihnen.
Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter, James, and John, and led them up a high mountain alone by themselves. There his appearance was transformed before their eyes,
3 Seine Kleider wurden schimmernd weiß, wie sie kein Walker auf der Erde bleichen kann.
and his clothes became whiter than any launderer in the whole world could bleach them.
4 Und es erschienen ihnen Elias mit Moses, die sich mit Jesus unterhielten.
And Elijah appeared to them, in company with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus.
5 Petrus nahm das Wort und sprach zu Jesus: "Rabbi, wie schön ist es doch, daß wir hier sind. Laß uns drei Hütten bauen: dir eine, dem Moses eine und dem Elias eine."
“Rabbi,” said Peter, interposing, “it is good to be here; let us make three tents, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
6 Er wußte nicht, was er sprach: sie waren vor Schrecken außer sich.
For he did not know what to say, because they were much afraid.
7 Doch da kam eine Wolke, die ihren Schatten auf sie warf, und eine Stimme aus der Wolke sprach: "Das ist mein vielgeliebter Sohn; auf diesen sollt ihr hören."
Then a cloud came down and enveloped them; and from the cloud there came a voice – “This is my dearly loved son; listen to him.”
8 Rasch schauten sie umher, sie sahen aber niemand mehr bei sich als Jesus allein.
And suddenly, on looking around, they saw that there was now no one with them but Jesus alone.
9 Während sie vom Berge niederstiegen, befahl er ihnen streng, niemand zu erzählen von dem, was sie gesehen hatten, bis der Menschensohn von den Toten auferstanden sei.
As they were going down the mountainside, Jesus cautioned them not to relate what they had seen to anyone, until after the Son of Man had risen from the dead.
10 An diesem Worte blieben sie nun hängen und stritten miteinander, was das zu bedeuten habe: das Auferstehen von den Toten.
They seized on these words and discussed with one another what this ‘rising from the dead’ meant.
11 Sie fragten ihn und sprachen: "Es sagen aber doch die Pharisäer und Schriftgelehrten, Elias müsse vorher noch kommen?"
“How is it,” they asked Jesus, “that our teachers of the Law say that Elijah has to come first?”
12 Er sprach zu ihnen: "Elias kommt allerdings vorher, und er wird alles wieder herstellen. Wie kann dann aber vom Menschensohn geschrieben sein, daß er viel leiden müsse und verkannt werde?
“Elijah does indeed come first,” answered Jesus, “and re-establish everything; and does not scripture speak, with regard to the Son of Man, of his undergoing much suffering and being utterly despised?
13 Gewiß, ich sage euch: Elias ist schon da. Doch hat man mit ihm angefangen, was man wollte, wie über ihn geschrieben steht."
But I tell you that Elijah has come, and people have treated him just as they pleased, as scripture says of him.”
14 Sie kamen zu den Jüngern und sahen eine große Menge um sie her, auch Schriftgelehrte, die mit ihnen stritten.
When they came to the other disciples, they saw a great crowd around them, and some teachers of the Law arguing with them.
15 Sobald ihn die Menge erblickte, geriet sie in Erregung und eilte ihm entgegen, ihn zu grüßen.
But, as soon as they saw Jesus, all the people, in great astonishment, ran up and greeted him.
16 Er fragte sie: "Worüber streitet ihr mit ihnen?"
“What are you arguing about with them?” Jesus asked.
17 Da erwiderte ihm einer aus der Menge: "Meister, ich brachte meinen Sohn zu dir, er ist von einem stummen Geiste besessen.
“Teacher,” answered a man in the crowd, “I brought my son to see you, as he has a spirit in him that makes him mute;
18 Wenn der ihn packt, zerrt er ihn hin und her; dann schäumt er und knirscht mit den Zähnen und liegt starr da. Ich bat deine Jünger, sie möchten ihn austreiben; sie hatten aber nicht die Kraft dazu."
and, wherever it seizes him, it dashes him down; he foams at the mouth and grinds his teeth, and he is pining away. I asked your disciples to drive the spirit out, but they failed.”
19 Darauf erwiderte er ihnen: "O du ungläubiges Geschlecht. Wie lang noch muß ich bei euch bleiben? Wie lang noch muß ich euch ertragen? Bringt ihn her zu mir!"
“Faithless generation!” exclaimed Jesus. “How long must I be with you? How long must I have patience with you? Bring the boy to me.”
20 Da brachten sie ihn zu ihm. Doch wie der Geist ihn erblickte, riß er den Knaben hin und her; dieser fiel zu Boden und wälzte sich schäumend.
They brought him to Jesus; but no sooner did the boy see him than the spirit threw him into convulsions; and he fell on the ground, and rolled about, foaming at the mouth.
21 Und Jesus fragte seinen Vater: "Wie lang schon hat er das?" Er sprach: "Von Kindheit an.
“How long has he been like this?” Jesus asked the boy’s father.
22 Oft wirft er ihn sogar ins Feuer oder auch ins Wasser, um ihn umzubringen. Wenn du das kannst, so hilf uns; hab Erbarmen mit uns."
“From his childhood,” he answered. “It has often thrown him into fire and into water to put an end to his life; but, if you can possibly do anything, take pity on us, and help us!”
23 Und Jesus sprach zu ihm: "Wenn du das kannst? Wer glaubt, kann alles."
“Why say ‘possibly’?” Jesus replied. “Everything is possible for one who has faith.”
24 Sofort rief der Vater des Knaben unter Tränen: "Ich glaube Herr. Hilf meinem Unglauben!"
The boy’s father immediately cried out, “I have faith; help my want of faith!”
25 Als Jesus sah, wie das Volk immer dichter zusammenströmte, bedrohte er den unreinen Geist und rief ihm zu: "Du stummer und tauber Geist, ich befehle dir, fahre aus von ihm und kehre niemals mehr in ihn zurück!"
But, when Jesus saw that a crowd was quickly collecting, he rebuked the foul spirit, “Deaf and dumb spirit, it is I who command you. Come out from him and never enter him again.”
26 Da schrie er auf, zerrte ihn heftig hin und her und fuhr dann von ihm aus. Der Knabe lag da wie tot, so daß die meisten sagten: "Er ist tot."
With a loud cry the spirit threw the boy into repeated convulsions, and then came out from him. The boy looked like a corpse, so that most of them said that he was dead.
27 Doch Jesus nahm ihn bei der Hand und half ihm auf, und er stand aufrecht da.
But Jesus took his hand, and lifted him; and he stood up.
28 Er ging darauf ins Haus. Insgeheim fragten ihn seine Jünger: "Warum konnten wir ihn nicht austreiben?"
When Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”
29 Er aber sprach zu ihnen: "Diese Art kann man nur durch Beten und Fasten austreiben."
“A spirit of this kind,” he said, “can be driven out only by prayer.”
30 Sie gingen weg von dort und wanderten durch Galiläa hin; doch wollte er nicht, daß es jemand erfahre.
Leaving that place, Jesus and his disciples went on their way through Galilee; but he did not wish anyone to know it,
31 Denn er belehrte seine Jünger und sagte ihnen: "Der Menschensohn wird in die Hände der Menschen überliefert werden; man wird ihn töten; jedoch drei Tage nach seinem Tode wird er auferstehen."
for he was instructing his disciples, and telling them – “The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of his fellow men, and they will put him to death, but, when he has been put to death, he will rise again after three days.”
32 Doch sie begriffen diese Rede nicht; sie scheuten sich indes, ihn zu fragen.
But the disciples did not understand his meaning and were afraid to question him.
33 Sie kamen nach Kapharnaum. Zu Hause fragte er sie: "Worüber habt ihr unterwegs gestritten?"
They came to Capernaum. When Jesus had gone into the house, he asked them, “What were you discussing on the way?”
34 Sie aber schwiegen. Sie hatten nämlich unterwegs miteinander gestritten, wer der Größte sei.
But they were silent; for on the way they had been arguing with one another which was the greatest.
35 Er setzte sich und rief die Zwölf zu sich her und sprach zu ihnen: "Wer der Erste sein möchte, der sei der Letzte und der Diener aller."
Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “If anyone wishes to be first, he must be last of all, and servant of all.”
36 Darauf nahm er ein Kind, stellte es mitten unter sie, schloß es in die Arme und sprach zu ihnen:
Then Jesus took a little child, and placed it in the middle of them. Taking it in his arms, he said to them,
37 "Wer ein solches Kind wie dieses hier in meinem Namen aufnimmt, nimmt mich auf; und wer mich aufnimmt, nimmt nicht mich auf, sondern den, der mich gesandt hat."
“Anyone who, for the sake of my name, welcomes even a little child like this is welcoming me, and anyone who welcomes me is welcoming not me, but him who sent me as his messenger.”
38 Johannes sprach zu ihm: "Meister, wir sahen einen, der in deinem Namen Dämonen austrieb, aber nicht mit uns geht. Wir suchten ihn zu hindern, weil er nicht mit uns geht."
“Teacher,” said John, “we saw a man driving out demons by using your name, and we tried to prevent him, because he did not follow us.”
39 Doch Jesus sprach: "Hindert ihn nicht! Keiner kann in meinem Namen Wunder wirken und gleich nachher wieder Böses von mir reden.
“None of you must prevent the man,” answered Jesus, “for no one will use my name in working a miracle, and yet find it easy to speak evil of me.
40 Wer nicht gegen uns ist, der ist für uns.
He who is not against us is for us.
41 Wer euch in meinem Namen nur einen Becher Wassers zu trinken reicht, weil ihr Christus angehört, ich sage euch: Er wird seinen Lohn nicht verlieren.
If anyone gives you a cup of water because you belong to Christ, I tell you, he will assuredly not lose his reward.
42 Wer aber einem dieser Kleinen, die an mich glauben, Anlaß zur Sünde gibt, dem ist es besser, daß ihm ein Mühlstein an den Hals gehängt und er ins Meer geworfen wird.
“And, if anyone puts temptation in the way of one of these little ones who believe in me, it would be far better for him if he had been thrown into the sea with a great millstone around his neck.
43 Gibt dir deine Hand zur Sünde Anlaß, so hau sie ab! Besser ist es für dich, verstümmelt zum Leben einzugehen, als daß du zwei Hände habest und in die Hölle gehen mußt, ins unauslöschliche Feuer, (Geenna g1067)
If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It would be better for you to enter the life maimed, than to have both your hands and go into Gehenna, into the fire that cannot be put out. (Geenna g1067)
44 wo ihr Wurm nicht stirbt und das Feuer nicht erlischt.
45 Gibt dir dein Fuß zur Sünde Anlaß, so hau ihn ab! Besser ist es für dich, hinkend zum Leben einzugehen, als daß du zwei Füße habest und in die Hölle geworfen wirst, ins unauslöschliche Feuer, (Geenna g1067)
If your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It would be better for you to enter the life lame, than to have both your feet and be thrown into Gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
46 wo ihr Wurm nicht stirbt und das Feuer nicht erlischt.
47 Gibt dir dein Auge zur Sünde Anlaß, so reiß es aus! Besser ist es für dich, mit einem Auge in das Reich Gottes einzugehen, als daß du zwei Augen habest und in die Hölle geworfen wirst, (Geenna g1067)
If your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. It would be better for you to enter the kingdom of God with only one eye, than to have both eyes and be thrown into Gehenna, (Geenna g1067)
48 wo ihr Wurm nicht stirbt und das Feuer nicht erlischt.
where their worm does not die, and the fire is not put out.
49 Jeder soll mit Feuer gesalzen werden wie jedes Opfer mit Salz gesalzen wird.
For it is by fire that everyone will be salted.
50 Das Salz ist etwas Gutes. Doch wenn das Salz einmal schal geworden ist, womit wollt ihr es dann würzen? Habt Salz in euch und haltet Frieden mit einander!"
Salt is good, but, if the salt should lose its saltiness, what will you use to season it? You must have salt in yourselves, and live at peace with one another.”
