Richter 12
1 Da ward Ephraims Mannschaft aufgeboten. Und sie zog gen Saphon. Und sie sprachen zu Jephte: "Warum bist du in den Kampf wider die Ammoniter gezogen und hast uns nicht gerufen, mit dir zu ziehen? Wir wollen dein Haus über dir anzünden."
`Lo! forsothe discencioun roos in Effraym; for whi thei, that passiden ayens the north, seiden to Jepte, Whi yedist thou to batel ayens the sones of Amon, and noldist clepe vs, that we schulden go with thee? Therfor we schulen brenne thin hows.
2 Da sprach Jephte zu ihnen: "Ich und mein Volk haben einen schweren Kampf mit den Ammonitern gehabt. Ich rief euch; aber ihr habt mich nicht aus ihrer Hand befreit.
To whiche he answeride, Greet strijf was to me and to my puple ayens the sones of Amon, and Y clepide you, that ye schulden `yyue help to me, and ye nolden do.
3 Als ich sah, daß du mir nicht halfest, da wagte ich mein Leben und zog aus gegen die Ammoniter. Und der Herr gab sie in meine Hand. Was zieht ihr heute wider mich, mit mir zu streiten?"
`Which thing Y siy, and puttide my lijf in myn hondis; and Y passide to the sones of Amon, and `the Lord bitook hem in to myn hondis; what haue Y disseruyd, that ye ryse togidere ayens me in to batel?
4 Dann bot Jephte alle Männer Gileads auf und stritt mit Ephraim. Da schlugen Gileads Männer Ephraim. Denn dieses pflegte zu sagen: "Ihr seid Flüchtlinge aus Ephraim." Gilead liegt ja zwischen Ephraim und Manasse.
Therfor whanne alle the men of Galaad weren clepid to hym, he fauyt ayens Effraym; and the men of Galaad smytiden Effraym; for he seide, Galaad is `fugitif ether exilid fro Effraym, and dwellith in the myddis of Effraym and of Manasses.
5 Und Gilead besetzte die Jordanfurten nach Ephraim. Sagten nun die Flüchtlinge von Ephraim: "Ich möchte hinüber", so fragten ihn die Männer Gileads: "Bist du ein Ephratiter?" Sagte er: "Nein!"
And the men of Galaad ocupieden the forthis of Jordan, bi whiche Effraym schulden turne ayen. And whanne a man fleynge of the noumbre of Effraym hadde come to tho forthis, and hadde seid, Y biseche, that thou suffre me passe; men of Galaad seiden to hym, Whether thou art a man of Effraym? And whanne he seide, Y am not,
6 Dann sagten sie zu ihm- "Sag doch Schibbolet! Sagte er Sibbolet, weil er nicht richtig sprechen konnte, dann griffen sie ihn und metzelten ihn an den Jordanfurten. So fielen damals aus Ephraim 42.000.
thei axiden hym, Seie thou therfor Sebolech, `whiche is interpretid, `an eer of corn. Which answeride, Thebolech, and myyte not brynge forth an eer of corn bi the same lettre. And anoon thei strangeliden hym takun in thilke passyng of Jordan; and two and fourti thousynde of Effraym felden doun in that tyme.
7 Und Jephte richtete Israel sechs Jahre. Dann starb Jephte, der Gileaditer, und ward in einer der Städte Gileads begraben.
And so Jepte, `a man of Galaad, demyde Israel sixe yeer; and he `was deed, and biried in his citee Galaad.
8 Nach ihm richtete Ibsan aus Bethlehem Israel.
Abethsan of Bethleem, that hadde thretti sones, and so many douytris, demyde Israel aftir Jepte;
9 Er hatte dreißig Söhne. Dreißig Töchter gab er auswärts und dreißig Töchter führte er seinen Söhnen von auswärts zu. Er richtete Israel sieben Jahre.
whiche douytris he sente out, and yaf to hosebondis, and he took wyues to hise sones of the same noumbre, and brouyte in to hys hows; which demyde Israel seuene yeer;
10 Ibsan starb und ward zu Bethlehem begraben.
and he `was deed, and biried in Bethleem.
11 Nach ihm richtete der Zabulonite Elon Israel. Er richtete Israel zehn Jahre lang.
Whos successour was Hailon of Zabulon; and he demyde Israel ten yeer;
12 Dann starb der Zabulonite Elon und ward zu Ajjalon im Lande Zabulon begraben.
and he was deed, and biried in Zabulon.
13 Nach ihm richtete der Piratonite Abdon, Hillels Sohn, Israel.
Aftir hym Abdon, the sone of Ellel, of Pharaton, demyde Israel;
14 Er hatte vierzig Söhne und dreißig Enkel, die auf siebzig Eselsfüllen ritten. Er richtete Israel acht Jahre.
which Abdon hadde fourti sones, and of hem thretti sones, stiynge on seuenti coltis of femal assis, `that is, mulis, and he demyde Israel eiyte yeer;
15 Dann starb der Piratonite Abdon, Hillels Sohn, und ward zu Piraton im Land Ephraim auf dem Arnalekitergebirge begraben.
and he `was deed, and biried in Pharaton, in the loond of Effraym, in the hil of Amalech.
