Job 40
1 Der Herr erwiderte dem Job und sprach:
Moreouer ye Lord spake vnto Iob, and said,
2 "Ist nun der Streit mit dem Allmächtigen zu Ende? Wer Gott anklagt, antworte drauf!"
Is this to learne to striue with the Almightie? he that reprooueth God, let him answere to it.
3 Und Job erwiderte dem Herrn und sprach:
Then Iob answered the Lord, saying,
4 "Ich bin doch zu gering, daß ich Dir Antwort gebe; ich lege meine Hand auf meinen Mund.
Beholde, I am vile: what shall I answere thee? I will lay mine hand vpon my mouth.
5 Einmal hab ich geredet; ich widerspreche nimmer. Ein zweitesmal tu ich's nicht wieder."
Once haue I spoken, but I will answere no more, yea twise, but I will proceede no further.
6 Der Herr erwiderte dem Job nach diesem Wettersturm und sprach:
Againe the Lord answered Iob out of the whirle winde, and said,
7 "Auf, gürte deine Lenden wie ein Mann! Ich will dich fragen; du belehre mich!
Girde vp now thy loynes like a man: I will demaunde of thee, and declare thou vnto me.
8 Willst du mein Recht vielleicht zunichte machen und mich verdammen, daß du Recht behältst?
Wilt thou disanul my iudgement? or wilt thou condemne me, that thou mayst be iustified?
9 Hast du denn einen Arm wie Gott? Kannst du gleich diesem donnern lassen?
Or hast thou an arme like God? or doest thou thunder with a voyce like him?
10 Mit Hoheit schmücke dich und mit Erhabenheit. Umkleide dich mit Glanz und Herrlichkeit!
Decke thy selfe now with maiestie and excellencie, and aray thy selfe with beautie and glory.
11 Laß deines Zornes Gluten sich ergießen! Und wirf mit deinen Blicken jeden Stolzen nieder!
Cast abroad the indignation of thy wrath, and beholde euery one that is proude, and abase him.
12 Mit einem Blick demütige jeden Stolzen! An ihrem Orte wirf die Frevler nieder!
Looke on euery one that is arrogant, and bring him lowe: and destroy the wicked in their place.
13 Verbirg im Staube sie zumal. Und steck ihr Angesicht an den verborgenen Ort!
Hide them in the dust together, and binde their faces in a secret place.
14 Dann will auch ich dich loben, wenn du dir selber hilfst.
Then will I confesse vnto thee also, that thy right hand can saue thee.
15 Das Nilpferd sieh dir an, das ich geschaffen, im Vergleich zu dir! Gleich einem Rinde frißt es Gras.
Behold now Behemoth (whom I made with thee) which eateth grasse as an oxe.
16 Betrachte aber doch die Kraft in seinen Lenden und seine Stärke in den Muskeln seines Leibes!
Behold now, his strength is in his loynes, and his force is in the nauil of his belly.
17 Gleich einer Zeder streckt es seinen Schweif hinaus. Die Sehnen seiner Schenkel, dicht verschlungen,
When hee taketh pleasure, his taile is like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapt together.
18 und seine Knochen sind wie eherne Röhren, und seine Beine sind wie Eisenstäbe.
His bones are like staues of brasse, and his small bones like staues of yron.
19 Es ist dies Gottes Meisterwerk; sein Schöpfer gab ihm eine Sichel.
He is the chiefe of the wayes of God: he that made him, will make his sworde to approch vnto him.
20 Die Berge liefern ihm das Futter; es spottet aller wilden Tiere.
Surely the mountaines bring him foorth grasse, where all the beastes of the fielde play.
21 Und unter Lotosbüschen lagert's dort in dem Versteck von Rohr und Schilf.
Lyeth hee vnder the trees in the couert of the reede and fennes?
22 Und Lotosbüschel überdachen es als Schattenspender; des Baches Weiden halten es umfangen.
Can the trees couer him with their shadow? or can the willowes of the riuer compasse him about?
23 Wenn sich ein Strom ergießt, wird ihm nicht bange. Es bleibt getrost, ergösse sich ein Jordan ihm ins Maul.
Behold, he spoyleth the riuer, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw vp Iorden into his mouth.
24 Kann man's mit seinen Augen bannen? Will man mit Stricken wohl die Nase ihm durchbohren?
Hee taketh it with his eyes, and thrusteth his nose through whatsoeuer meeteth him.
