Job 27
1 Darauf fuhr Job im Vortrag seiner Rede fort:
And Job further continued and said in his parable,
2 "Bei Gott, der mir mein Recht genommen, bei dem Allmächtigen, der mich verzweifeln läßt!
[As] God lives, who has thus judge me; and the Almighty, who has embittered my soul;
3 Solange noch ein Atem in mir bleibt und Gotteshauch in meiner Nase,
verily, while my breath is yet in [me], and the breath of God which remains to me is in my nostrils,
4 solange kommt nichts Falsches her von meinen Lippen, und meine Zunge dichtet keinen Trug.
my lips shall not speak evil words, neither shall my soul meditate unrighteous thoughts.
5 Von mir sei's fern, euch Recht zu geben, bis zum Tode fern, auf meine Unschuld zu verzichten!
Far be it from me that I should justify you till I die; for I will not let go my innocence,
6 Ich halte fest an meiner Rechtlichkeit und lasse sie nicht fahren. Ob keinem meiner Tage tadelt mich mein Herz.
but keeping fast to [my] righteousness I will by no means let it go: for I am not conscious to myself of having done any thing amiss.
7 Mein Feind der soll als Schuldiger erscheinen, mein Widersacher als der Ungerechte! -
Nay rather, but let mine enemies be as the overthrow of the ungodly, and they that rise up against me, as the destruction of transgressors.
8 Welche Hoffnung hat der Frevler, wird er hinweggerafft, wenn seine Seele Gott verlangt?
For what is the hope of the ungodly, that he holds to it? will he indeed trust in the Lord [and] be saved?
9 Wird Gott denn sein Geschrei erhören, wenn Not ihn überfällt?
Will God hear his prayer? or, when distress has come upon him,
10 Kann er vor dem Allmächtigen sich wie ein verwöhntes Kind benehmen, daß er zu jeder Zeit Gott rufen dürfte?
has he any confidence before him? or will [God] hear him as he calls upon him?
11 Ich will euch über Gottes Hand belehren, euch nicht verhehlend, was beim Allmächtigen beschlossen ist.
Yet now I will tell you what is in the hand of the Lord: I will not lie concerning the things which are with the Almighty.
12 Ihr alle habt es selbst gesehen. Was wollt ihr euch so eitlem Wahn ergeben?
Behold, you all know that you are adding vanity to vanity.
13 Das ist der bösen Menschen Los bei Gott, dies der Tyrannen Erbe, das sie von dem Allmächtigen erhalten:
This is the portion of an ungodly man from the Lord, and the possession of oppressors shall come upon them from the Almighty.
14 Hat er viele Kinder, ist's für das Schwert, und seine Sprößlinge bekommen nimmer Brot genug.
And if their children be many, they shall be for slaughter: and if they grow up, they shall beg.
15 Wer von den Seinen übrigbleibt, wird durch die Pest begraben, und seine Witwen halten nicht die Totenklage.
And they that survive of him shall utterly perish, and no one shall pity their widows.
16 Wenn Silber er wie Sand aufhäuft und Kleider sich zurücklegt gleich wie Lehm,
Even if he should gather silver as earth, and prepare gold as clay;
17 er legt sie freilich sich zurück; doch der Gerechte kleidet sich damit; das Silber nimmt der Fromme fort.
All these things shall the righteous gain, and the true-hearted shall possess his wealth.
18 Sein Haus baut er dem leeren Vogelneste gleich, wie eine Hütte, die ein Hüter macht.
And his house is gone like moths, and like a spider's web.
19 Er legt als reicher Mann sich hin und hat noch nicht die Füße eingezogen; er blinzelt mit den Augen noch, da ist er schon nicht mehr.
The rich man shall lie down, and shall not continue: he has opened his eyes, and he is not.
20 Gleich Wassern überraschen ihn die Schreckgestalten; des Nachts nimmt ihn der Sturmwind fort.
Pains have come upon him as water, and darkness has carried him away by night.
21 Der Ostwind hebt ihn auf; er fährt dahin, und jener wirbelt ihn von seiner Stätte fort.
And a burning wind shall catch him, and he shall depart, and it shall utterly drive him out of his place.
22 Er schießt auf ihn erbarmungslos; von seiner Hand wird er durchbohrt.
And [God] shall cast [trouble] upon him, and not spare: he would fain flee out of his hand.
23 Und seine Wohnstatt klatscht in ihre Hände über ihn und zischt ihn aus."
He shall cause [men] to clap their hands against them, and shall hiss him out of his place.
