Job 12
1 Darauf gab Job zur Antwort:
And Job answered and said,
2 "Wahrhaftig, ihr seid Leute; ausstirbt mit euch die Weisheit.
No doubt but ye [are] the people, and wisdom shall die with you.
3 Ich habe aber auch Verstand wie euer einer, ich falle gegen euch nicht ab. Wem wären solche Dinge fremd? -
But I have understanding as well as you; I [am] not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?
4 Dem Nächsten diene ich zum Schimpf, dem, der zu Gott ruft und den er erhört, dem vollkommenen Gerechten, zum Gespött.
I am [as] one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright [man is] laughed to scorn.
5 Ich gleiche einer Nessel, gar verachtenswert, nach Ansicht Glücklicher für Fußtritte ausersehen.
He that is ready to slip with [his] feet [is as] a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.
6 Den Räubern aber sind die Zelte sicher, und Sicherheit genießen, die Gott reizen für das, was Gott in ihreHände hat gegeben.
The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth [abundantly].
7 Befrage nur die Tiere! Sie können es dir sagen; die Vögel auch beweisen dir's.
But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:
8 Schau dir die Erde an! Sie lehrt es dich; die Fische in dem Meer bezeugen dir's:
Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.
9 Wer nur in aller Welt weiß nicht, daß Gottes Hand dies hat geschaffen,
Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?
10 daß jedes Wesen ist in seiner Hand, der Odem aller Sterblichen? -
In whose hand [is] the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.
11 Ist nicht das Ohr zum Worteprüfen so geschaffen, gerade wie der Gaumen, daß er Speise koste? -
Doth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?
12 Ist Weisheit bei den Alten, Verstand bei langem Leben bloß zu finden,
With the ancient [is] wisdom; and in length of days understanding.
13 dann muß bei ihm recht große Weisheit, Verstand und kluger Rat zu finden sein.
With him [is] wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.
14 Was er zerstört, das baut man nimmer auf, und nimmt er jemanden gefangen, der wird nicht wieder frei.
Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.
15 Wenn er den Wassern wehrt, dann bleiben sie an Ort und Stelle; wenn er sie ledig läßt, aufwühlen sie die Erde.
Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.
16 Von ihm kommt Stärke und Erfolg; sein ist der Irrende, sein der Verführer.
With him [is] strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver [are] his.
17 Er, der da Räte barfuß ziehen läßt und Richtern den Verstand wegnimmt,
He leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.
18 der Königen die Diademe löst und ihnen Stricke um die Hüften legt,
He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.
19 der Priester barfuß ziehen läßt und der Beamte stürzt,
He leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.
20 der stocken macht geübte Redner und Greisen den Verstand wegnimmt,
He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.
21 der Schande ausgießt über Vornehme und Höflingen die Schärpen lockert,
He poureth contempt upon princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.
22 der Tiefes aus dem Dunkel zieht und an das Licht das Finstere bringt,
He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.
23 der Heiden in die Irre führt und sie vernichtet und Heidenvölker niederstreckt und liegen läßt,
He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them [again].
24 der zagen macht die Landeshäupter und sie in auswegloser Wirrnis irreführt,
He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness [where there is] no way.
25 daß sie in finsterem Dunkel tappen und der sie wie Betrunkene taumeln macht."
They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like [a] drunken [man].
