Jesaja 59

1 Der Arm des Herrn ist nicht zu kurz zum Helfen; sein Ohr ist nicht zu taub zum Hören.

Beholde, the Lordes hande is not shortened, that it can not saue: neither is his eare heauie, that it cannot heare.

2 Nur eure Missetaten trennen euch und euren Gott. Nur eure Sünden zwingen ihn, vor euch das Antlitz zu verhüllen, um euch nicht anzuhören.

But your iniquities haue separated betweene you and your God, and your sinnes haue hidde his face from you, that he will not heare.

3 Denn eure Hände sind mit Blut befleckt, mit Übeltaten eure Finger, und eure Lippen reden Trug, und eure Zunge flüstert Unerlaubtes.

For your handes are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquitie: your lips haue spoken lies and your tongue hath murmured iniquitie.

4 Gerechterweise klagt kein Mensch, und niemand ist, der ehrlich sich verteidigt. Man baut auf Trug und redet falsch, und mit Gewalttat geht man schwanger und zeugt dann Unheil.

No man calleth for iustice: no man contendeth for trueth: they trust in vanitie, and speake vaine things: they conceiue mischiefe, and bring foorth iniquitie.

5 Sie brüten Basiliskeneier aus und weben Spinngewebe. Wer von den Eiern ißt, muß sterben; als Otter quillt das Ausgebrütete hervor.

They hatch cockatrice egges, and weaue the spiders webbe: he that eateth of their egges, dieth, and that which is trode vpon, breaketh out into a serpent.

6 Zum Kleid taugt ihr Gewebe nicht; mit ihrer Arbeit kann man sich nicht decken. Denn Unheilswerk sind ihre Werke; Gewalttat ist in ihren Händen.

Their webbes shall be no garment, neither shall they couer themselues with their labours: for their workes are workes of iniquitie, and the worke of crueltie is in their handes.

7 Zum Bösen rennen ihre Füße und eilen, Blut der Unschuld zu vergießen. Und ihre Pläne sind nur Unheilspläne, nur Stoß und Sturz auf ihren Bahnen.

Their feete runne to euill, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are wicked thoughts: desolation and destruction is in their paths.

8 Ein Friedensweg ist ihnen unbekannt; auf ihren Pfaden ist kein Recht. Sie bahnen krumme Steige sich; wer sie betritt, weiß nichts von Frieden.

The way of peace they knowe not, and there is none equitie in their goings: they haue made them crooked paths: whosoeuer goeth therein, shall not knowe peace.

9 Drum bleibt das Richtige uns fern; kein Glück wird uns zuteil. Jetzt hoffen wir auf Licht; doch bleibt es finster; auf Lichtstrahlen, jedoch im Dunkeln wandeln wir.

Therefore is iudgement farre from vs, neither doeth iustice come neere vnto vs: we waite for light, but loe, it is darkenesse: for brightnesse, but we walke in darkenesse.

10 Wir tappen wie die Blinden nach der Wand; wie ohne Augen tasten wir. Am hellen Mittag straucheln wir, als ob es Dämmerung wäre, und in der Dunkelheit sind wir wie Tote.

Wee grope for the wall like the blinde, and we grope as one without eyes: we stumble at the noone day as in the twilight: we are in solitarie places, as dead men.

11 Wir murren alle wie die Bären und gurren seufzend wie die Tauben. Wir harren auf das Richtige, doch fort bleibt es; auf Glück, fern bleibt es uns.

We roare all like beares, and mourne like dooues: wee looke for equitie, but there is none: for health, but it is farre from vs.

12 Denn unsre Missetaten stehn in großer Zahl vor Dir, und unsre Sünden zeugen gegen uns. Ja, unsre Missetaten stehen neben uns, und unsere Sünden kennen wir.

For our trespasses are many before thee, and our sinnes testifie against vs: for our trespasses are with vs, and we knowe our iniquities

13 Abfall, Untreue an dem Herrn, Aufgabe der Nachfolge unseres Gottes! Wir raten zu Gewalt und Abfall; mit Bosheit gehn wir schwanger und sinnen recht mit Fleiß auf trügerische Worte.

In trespassing and lying against the Lord, and wee haue departed away from our God, and haue spoken of crueltie and rebellion, conceiuing and vttering out of the heart false matters.

14 Das Recht zieht sich zurück, und die Gerechtigkeit steht ferne. Die Wahrheit kommt auf freiem Platz zu Fall, und Biedersinn darf sich nicht zeigen.

Therefore iudgement is turned backewarde, and iustice standeth farre off: for trueth is fallen in the streete, and equitie cannot enter.

15 Vermißt wird Redlichkeit, und vorenthalten bleibt das Bösesmeiden. Dies sieht der Herr, und ihm mißfällt, daß nirgends Recht zu finden ist.

Yea, trueth faileth, and hee that refraineth from euill, maketh himselfe a praye: and when the Lord sawe it, it displeased him, that there was no iudgement.

16 Er sieht, kein rechter Mensch ist da, und staunt darüber, daß kein Mensch vermittelt. Da hilft ihm denn sein eigner Arm; sein Beistand ist die eigene Gerechtigkeit,

And when he sawe that there was no man, hee wondered that none woulde offer him selfe. Therefore his arme did saue it, and his righteousnes it selfe did sustaine it.

17 Gerechtigkeit sein Panzer! Der sieggewohnte Helm auf seinem Haupt! Der Rache Kleid sein Alltagskleid! Sein Mantel Eiferzorn!

For he put on righteousnes, as an habergeon, and an helmet of saluation vpon his head, and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeale as a cloke.

18 Drum nach Verdienst vergilt er nunmehr. Glutzorn seinen Widersachern! Vergeltung seinen Feinden! Vergeltung übt er also an den Inseln:

As to make recompence, as to requite the furie of the aduersaries with a recompence to his enemies: he will fully repaire the ylands.

19 Den Ruhm des Herrn erschauen die im Westen und die im Osten seine Herrlichkeit, wenn er erscheint, dem Strome gleich, der aufschäumt, hergejagt vom Sturm des Herrn.

So shall they feare the Name of the Lord from the West, and his glory from the rising of the sunne: for the enemie shall come like a flood: but the Spirit of the Lord shall chase him away.

20 "Für Sion aber kommt ein Retter, für die in Jakob, die von Sünden lassen." - Ein Spruch des Herrn.

And the Redeemer shall come vnto Zion, and vnto them that turne from iniquitie in Iaakob, saith the Lord.

21 "Nur dies ist die Bedingung, die ich ihnen mache", so spricht der Herr: "Mein Geist, der auf dir ruht, und meine Worte, dir in den Mund gelegt, sie dürfen nicht aus deinem Munde weichen und nicht von deiner Kinder Munde und nicht von deiner Enkelkinder Munde", so spricht der Herr, "von nun an bis in Ewigkeit."

And I will make this my couenant with them, saith the Lord. My Spirit that is vpon thee, and my wordes, which I haue put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seede, nor out of the mouth of the seede of thy seede, saith the Lord, from hencefoorth euen for euer.
