Jesaja 23
1 Ein Ausspruch über Tyrus: "Die Tarsisschiffe jammern: 'Vernichtet ist der Landungsplatz der Siedlungen.' Aus dem Kittiterlande wird es ihnen kundgetan.
The burden of Tyre. Howl, ye ships of Tarshish, for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in. It is revealed to them from the land of Kittim.
2 Verstummt sind die Bewohner ihrer Küste, die Kaufleute aus Sidon. Dich füllten an,
Be still, ye inhabitants of the coast, thou whom the merchants of Sidon, who pass over the sea, have replenished.
3 die auf den mächtigen Gewässern fuhren, dich, die des Sichors Saat einführte, des Niles Ernte, und die der Stapelplatz der Heidenvölker war.
And on great waters the seed of the Shihor, the harvest of the Nile, was her revenue, and she was the mart of nations.
4 Erröte, Sidon! Das Meer sagt ja: 'Du liegst nicht mehr in Wehen, Meeresfeste, gebierst nicht mehr; du ziehst nicht Jünglinge mehr groß; bringst keine Jungfrauen mehr auf.'
Be thou ashamed, O Sidon, for the sea has spoken, the stronghold of the sea, saying, I have not travailed, nor brought forth, neither have I nourished young men, nor brought up virgins.
5 Wie bei der Kunde von Ägypten, so bebt man bei der Kunde über Tyrus.
When the report comes to Egypt, they shall be greatly pained at the report of Tyre.
6 Nach Tarsis ziehet hin! Küstenbewohner, heult!
Pass ye over to Tarshish. Wail, ye inhabitants of the coast.
7 Ist dies denn eure sonst so frohe Stadt mit ihrem Ursprung in der Vorzeit Tagen? Die Füße trugen weithin sie zu Siedlungen.
Is this your joyous city, whose antiquity is of ancient days, whose feet carried her afar off to sojourn?
8 Wer nur verhängte dieses Schicksal über Tyrus, das gekrönte, wo Handelsleute Fürsten, Kaufleute die Geehrtesten im Lande waren?
Who has purposed this against Tyre, the bestower of crowns, whose merchants are rulers, whose traders are the honored of the earth?
9 Der Heeresscharen Herr hat es beschlossen, den ganzen hohen Glanz zu dunkeln und die Geehrtesten im Land herabzuwürdigen.
Jehovah of hosts has purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory, to bring into contempt all the honorable of the earth.
10 Setz unter Wasser gleich dem Nil dein Land! Du Tarsistochter; keine Mutterstadt gibt's mehr.
Pass through thy land as the Nile, O daughter of Tarshish, there is no restraint any more.
11 Er streckt den Arm aus übers Meer, erschüttert Königreiche. Der Herr gibt wider Kanaan Befehl, zu tilgen seine Festen.
He has stretched out his hand over the sea. He has shaken the kingdoms. Jehovah has given commandment concerning Canaan, to destroy the strongholds of it.
12 Er spricht: 'Du sollst nicht mehr frohlocken, geschändete Jungfrau, du Sidonstochter! Auf! Auf, hinüber nach Kittim! Auch dort wird dir nicht Ruhe!'
And he said, Thou shall no more rejoice, O thou oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon. Arise, pass over to Kittim, even there shall thou have no rest.
13 Sieh! Des Chaldäerlandes Volk, das nicht assyrisch ist, gibt jenes wilden Katzen preis, errichtet Türme, stürmt seine Schlösser und wandelt sie in Trümmer.
Behold, the land of the Chaldeans. This people once was not. The Assyrian founded it for those who dwell in the wilderness. They set up their towers. They raised up the palaces of it. Then they made it a ruin.
14 Ihr Tarsisschiffe! Heult! Denn eure Feste ist zerstört.
Howl, ye ships of Tarshish, for your stronghold is laid waste.
15 An jenem Tag kommt Tyrus in Vergessenheit wohl an die siebzig Jahre, gerechnet wie bei einem König. Nach siebzig Jahren geht es Tyrus wieder, wie's in dem Liede von der Dirne heißt:
And it shall come to pass in that day, that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king. After the end of seventy years it shall be to Tyre as in the song of the harlot:
16 'Die Zither nimm! Die Stadt durchstreife, du vergeß'ne Dirne! Spiel rührend! Singe Lied auf Lied, damit man wieder dein gedenke!'
Take a harp, go about the city, thou harlot who has been forgotten. Make sweet melody, sing many songs, that thou may be remembered.
17 Nach siebzig Jahren wird der Herr ja Tyrus abermals heimsuchen, damit zu seinem Buhlerlohn es kehre; mit allen Königreichen auf der Erde buhlt es wieder.
And it came to pass after the end of seventy years, that Jehovah examined Tyre, and she has repented of her gift, that she play the harlot with all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth.
18 Doch sein Gewinn, sein Dirnenlohn, wird eine heilige Gabe für den Herrn, nicht aufgespart und nicht gehortet. Denn jenen, die da siedeln vor dem Herrn, wird sein Gewinn zur Ehrengabe, zur Sättigung und zur Gewandung."
And her merchandise and her pay shall be holiness to Jehovah. It shall not be treasured nor laid up, for her merchandise shall be for those who dwell before Jehovah, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.
