Jesaja 21
1 Ein Ausspruch über die Verheerung der Gebieterin: "Wie Stürme aus dem Süden brausen, so kommt es aus der Wüste, aus fürchterlichem Lande.
The burden of the wilderness of the sea. As whirlwinds in the South sweeping on, it cometh from the wilderness, from a dreadful land.
2 Ein hart Gesicht wird mir vermeldet: 'Der Räuber raubt, der Tilger tilgt!'- Herauf, Elam! Dräng nach, du Medien! All dem Gestöhne mache ich ein Ende.
A grievous vision is declared unto me: 'The treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam! besiege, O Media! All the sighing thereof have I made to cease.'
3 Darüber zittern meine Hüften; mich packen Schmerzen gleich den Wehen einer Kreißenden. Mir wendet's das Gehör, und das Gesicht verstört es mir.
Therefore are my loins filled with convulsion; pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman in travail; I am bent so that I cannot hear; I am affrighted so that I cannot see.
4 Das Herz pocht mir; ein Beben bebt durch mich. Die Dämmerung, mir sonst so lieb, zum Grauen hat man sie für mich gemacht. -
My heart is bewildered, terror hath overwhelmed me; the twilight that I longed for hath been turned for me into trembling.
5 Auf! Deckt die Tische! Breitet Teppiche! Nun schmaust und zecht! - Ihr Fürsten, auf! Greift nach den Schilden! -
They prepare the table, they light the lamps, they eat, they drink — 'Rise up, ye princes, anoint the shield.'
6 Denn also spricht der Herr zu mir: 'Auf denn! Bestell mir einen Wächter! Er melde, was er sieht!
For thus hath the Lord said unto me: Go, set a watchman; let him declare what he seeth!
7 Und sieht er Wagen, die bespannt mit Rossen, auf Eseln Reiter, Reiter auf Kamelen, dann horche er, was er nur horchen kann!'
And when he seeth a troop, horsemen by pairs, a troop of asses, a troop of camels, he shall hearken diligently with much heed.
8 Da rief er aus: 'Ich stehe auf der Wache meines Herrn, tagsüber immerzu; auf Posten bin ich all die Nächte.
And he cried as a lion: 'Upon the watch-tower, O Lord, I stand continually in the daytime, and I am set in my ward all the nights.'
9 Da kommt ein Mann auf einem Wagen, bespannt mit Rossen. Da hebt er an und spricht: "Gestürzt, gestürzt ist Babel. All seine Götterbilder hat man auf die Erde hingeschmettert."'
And, behold, there came a troop of men, horsemen by pairs. And he spoke and said: 'Fallen, fallen is Babylon; and all the graven images of her gods are broken unto the ground.'
10 O mein zermalmtes und zerdroschenes Volk! Was ich erhorcht vom Herrn der Heeresscharen, dem Gotte Israels, das kündige ich euch."
O thou my threshing, and the winnowing of my floor, that which I have heard from the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you.
11 Ein Ausspruch über Duma: "Von Seïr ruft's mir zu: 'Du Wächter, ach! Wie spät ist's in der Nacht? Du Wächter, ach! Wie spät ist's in der Nacht?'
The burden of Dumah. One calleth unto me out of Seir: 'Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?'
12 Der Wächter spricht: 'Gekommen ist der Morgen, und doch ist es noch Nacht. Wollt ihr noch mehr erfragen, könnt ihr's tun. Dann kommt nur wieder.'" -
The watchman said: 'The morning cometh, and also the night — if ye will inquire, inquire ye; return, come.'
13 Ein Ausspruch über Arabien: "Im Steppenbusche nächtigt, Karawanen Dedans!
The burden upon Arabia. In the thickets in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye caravans of Dedanites.
14 Den Durstigen bringt Wasser zu, Einwohner aus dem Lande Taima, und bietet Brot den Flüchtigen!
Unto him that is thirsty bring ye water! The inhabitants of the land of Tema did meet the fugitive with his bread.
15 Vor Schwertern sind sie auf der Flucht, vor wohlgeschärften Schwertern, vor wohlgespannten Bogen, vor Kampfeswut.
For they fled away from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war.
16 Denn also spricht der Herr zu mir: 'Schon binnen Jahresfrist, gerechnet nach Taglöhnersjahren, ist's mit der ganzen Herrlichkeit von Kedar aus.'
For thus hath the Lord said unto me: 'Within a year, according to the years of a hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail;
17 Der Rest der Bogenzahl der Krieger bei Kedars Söhnen wird gering. Der Herr, Gott Israels, er sagt es."
and the residue of the number of the archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished; for the LORD, the God of Israel, hath spoken it.'
