Haggai 1
1 Im zweiten Jahr des Königs Darius, im sechsten Monat am ersten Monatstag, erging das Wort des Herrn durch den Propheten Aggäus an den Statthalter von Juda, Zorobabel, Salatiels Sohn, sowie an den Hohenpriester Josue, Josadaks Sohn, also lautend:
In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first of the month, came the word of Yahweh, by the hand of Haggai the prophet, unto Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, pasha of Judah, and unto Jehoshua son of Jehozadak the high priest, saying:
2 So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: "Die Leute sagen, die Zeit sei noch nicht da, das Haus des Herrn zu bauen."
Thus, speaketh Yahweh of hosts, saying, —This people, have said, Not yet hath come the time for the house of Yahweh to be built.
3 Darauf erging das Wort des Herrn durch den Propheten Aggäus, also lautend:
Therefore hath come the word of Yahweh by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying:
4 "Ist es denn Zeit für euch, in euren Häusern, den getäfelten, zu ruhn, obgleich dies Haus in Trümmern liegt?
Is it a time that, ye yourselves, should be dwelling in your own paneled houses? and, this house, be in ruins?
5 Nun überlegt einmal", so spricht der Herr der Heerscharen, "wie's euch bisher ergangen ist!
Now, therefore, Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, —Apply your heart unto your own experience—
6 Ihr sät viel aus; doch wenig erntet ihr. Ihr esset, werdet aber nimmer satt; ihr trinket, werdet nimmer froh. Ihr ziehet Kleider an und werdet nimmer warm, und wer um Lohn arbeitet, tut ihn in einen löcherigen Beutel."
Ye have sown much, but have brought in little, have eaten, and not been filled, have drunk, and not been satisfied with drink, have clothed you, and none hath been warm, —and, he that hath hired himself out, hath put his wages into a bag with holes.
7 So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: "Überlegt doch, wie es euch bisher erging!
Thus, saith Yahweh of hosts, —Apply your heart to your own experience:
8 Dann steiget auf die Berge! Herbei mit Holz und baut das Haus! Dies wird mich freuen und mich ehren." So spricht der Herr.
Ascend the mountain—and bring in wood and build the house, —that I may be pleased therewith and get myself glory, saith Yahweh.
9 "Ihr machtet Platz für viel und seht: Es ward nur weniger. Und was ihr eingeheimst, das blies ich weg. Weshalb?" Ein Spruch des Herrn der Heerscharen. "Um meines Hauses willen, das in Trümmern liegt, und jeder unter euch ist nur geschäftig für sein Haus.
When ye looked for much, then lo! it came to little, when ye brought it home, then I did blow into it, — Because of what? Demandeth Yahweh of hosts, Because of my house, the which is in ruins, while ye keep running every man to his own house.
10 Deshalb hält über euch der Himmel seinen Tau zurück, und den Ertrag versagt die Erde.
Wherefore—on your account, have the heavens, held back, dew, — and, the earth, held back her fruit;
11 Und ich rief Dürre über Land und Berge und über Korn und Most und Öl herbei und über alles, was der Boden trägt, und über Mensch und Vieh und aller Hände Arbeit."
And I have called for drought, upon the land and upon the mountains, and upon the corn and upon the new wine and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground, bringeth forth, —and upon man, and upon beast, and upon all the labour of the hands.
12 Da hörten Zorobabel, Salatiels Sohn, und Josue, der Sohn des Josadak, der Hohepriester, sowie der ganze Rest des Volkes auf die Stimme ihres Herrn und Gottes, das heißt auf des Aggäus, des Propheten, Worte, sobald der Herr, ihr Gott, ihn abgesandt. Furcht vor dem Herrn befiel das Volk.
Then hearkened Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Jehoshua son of Jehozadak the high priest, and all the remnant of the people, unto the voice of Yahweh their God, and unto the words of Haggai the prophet, as Yahweh their God, had sent him, —and the people, stood in awe, before Yahweh.
13 Da sprach Aggäus, des Herren Bote, gemäß des Herren Botschaft zu dem Volk: "Ich werde mit euch sein." Ein Spruch des Herrn.
Then spake Haggai the messenger of Yahweh, in the message of Yahweh, to the people saying, —I, am with you, Declareth Yahweh.
14 Und da erweckte Gott den Geist Zorobabels, des Sohns Salatiels, des Statthalters von Juda, sowie den Geist des Hohenpriesters Josue, des Sohnes Josadaks, und den des ganzen Volksrestes. Und so begannen sie die Arbeit an dem Haus des Herrn der Heerscharen und ihres Gottes,
Thus did Yahweh, stir up—the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, pasha of Judah, and the spirit of Jehoshua son of Jehozadak the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people, —and they came in and did service in the house of Yahweh of hosts their God:
15 am vierundzwanzigsten des sechsten Monats, im zweiten Jahr des Königs Darius.
on the twenty-fourth day of the month, in the sixth month, —in the second year of Darius the king.
