Hesekiel 14

1 Da kamen einige der Ältesten aus Israel zu mir und setzten sich mir gegenüber.

Then came certaine of the Elders of Israel vnto me, and sate before me.

2 Darauf erging das Wort des Herrn an mich:

And the worde of the Lord came vnto me, saying,

3 "Sieh, Menschensohn! Die Männer denken nur an ihre Götzenbilder und stellen vor sich hin das Ding, mit dem sie sich versündigen. Und ich soll ihnen da zur Rede stehen?

Sonne of man, these men haue set vp their idoles in their heart, and put the stumbling blocke of their iniquitie before their face: should I, being required, answere them?

4 Drum sprich sie an und sag zu ihnen: So spricht der Herr, der Herr: 'Ein jeder, der im Hause Israel an seine Götzen denkt und vor sich hin den Anlaß seiner Sünde stellt, und dennoch zum Propheten kommt, bei einem solchen antworte ich, Jahve, ich selbst auf seine vielen Götzenbilder.

Therefore speake vnto them, and say vnto them, Thus saith the Lord God, Euery man of the house of Israel that setteth vp his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumbling blocke of his iniquitie before his face, and commeth to the Prophet, I the Lord will answere him that commeth, according to the multitude of his idoles:

5 Ich will's dem Hause Israel in seinem Herzen fühlbar machen, daß es durch seine Götzen all sich mir entfremdet hat.'

That I may take the house of Israel in their owne heart, because they are all departed from me through their idoles.

6 Deshalb sag zu dem Hause Israel: So spricht der Herr, der Herr: 'Kehrt um und wendet euch von euren Götzenbildern, von allen euren Greueln wendet euer Antlitz ab!

Therfore say vnto the house of Israel, Thus sayth the Lord God, Returne, and withdraw your selues, and turne your faces from your idoles, and turne your faces from all your abominations.

7 Denn jeder in dem Hause Israel und von den Fremdlingen, die in Jerusalem verweilen, und wer an seine Götzen denkt und wer den Anlaß seiner Sünde vor sich hinstellt und dennoch zum Propheten kommt, um mich durch diesen zu befragen, dem werde ich, Jahve, die Antwort selber geben.

For euery one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that soiourneth in Israel, which departeth from mee, and setteth vp his idoles in his heart, and putteth the stumbling blocke of his iniquitie before his face, and commeth to a Prophet, for to inquire of him for me, I the Lord will answere him for my selfe,

8 Ich wende gegen einen solchen Mann mein Angesicht; ein warnend Beispiel mache ich aus ihm und rotte ihn aus meinem Volke aus, daß ihr erkennet, daß der Herr ich bin.

And I will set my face against that man, and will make him an example and prouerbe, and I will cut him off from the middes of my people, and ye shall knowe that I am the Lord.

9 Und läßt sich der Prophet verleiten, ihm eine Antwort zu erteilen, dann habe ich, der Herr, den Seher vorher selbst dazu verleitet. Doch streck ich gegen diesen meine Hand und tilge ihn aus meinem Volke Israel.

And if the Prophet be deceiued, when hee hath spoken a thing, I the Lord haue deceiued that Prophet, and I will stretch out mine hande vpon him, and will destroy him from the middes of my people of Israel.

10 So müssen beide ihr Vergehen tragen, der Fragende wie der Prophet; sie werden gleicherweise schuldig sein,

And they shall beare their punishment: the punishment of the Prophet shall bee euen as the punishment of him that asketh,

11 damit das Haus von Israel von mir nicht Abfall übe und sich durch irgendwelche Freveltat nicht mehr entweihe, daß sie vielmehr zum Volk mir werden und ich für sie zum Gott.' Ein Spruch des Herrn, des Herrn."

That the house of Israel may go no more astray from mee, neither bee polluted any more with all their transgressions, but that they may be my people, and I may be their God, sayth the Lord God.

12 Das Wort des Herrn erging an mich:

The worde of the Lord came againe vnto me, saying,

13 "Du Menschensohn! Wenn sich an mir ein Land hat schwer versündigt und ich dawider meine Hand ausstreckte und ihm des Brotes Stab zerbräche und Hungersnot ihm schickte und Mensch und Vieh aus ihm vertilgte

Sonne of man, when ye land sinneth against me by committing a trespasse, then will I stretch out mine hand vpon it, and will breake the staffe of the bread thereof, and will send famine vpon it, and I will destroy man and beast forth of it.

14 und drinnen wären die drei Männer, Noë, Daniel und Job, so retteten sie nur sich selbst durch ihre Tugend." Ein Spruch des Herrn, des Herrn.

Though these three men Noah, Daniel, and Iob were among them, they shoulde deliuer but their owne soules by their righteousnes, saith the Lord God.

15 "Und brächte ich die wilden Tiere in das Land, und machte ich es menschenleer, zu einer Wüste, die niemand mehr durchwandern möchte, der wilden Tiere wegen,

If I bring noysome beastes into the lande and they spoyle it, so that it bee desolate, that no man may passe through, because of beastes,

16 und drinnen wären die drei Männer, so wahr ich lebe", ein Spruch des Herrn, des Herrn, "sie würden weder Sohn noch Tochter retten. Sie retteten nur sich allein; das Land jedoch würde zur Wüste werden.

Though these three men were in the mids thereof, As I liue, sayth the Lord God, they shall saue neither sonnes nor daughters: they onely shalbe deliuered, but the land shall be waste.

17 Und ließe ich das Schwert hingehen über jenes Land und spräche dann: 'Ein Schwert soll durch das Land hinfahren!' und ich vertilgte Mensch und Vieh daraus,

Or if I bring a sworde vpon this land, and say, Sword, go through the land, so that I destroy man and beast out of it,

18 und drinnen wären die drei Männer, so wahr ich lebe", ein Spruch des Herrn, des Herrn, "sie würden weder Sohn noch Tochter retten. Sie retteten nur sich allein.

Though these three men were in the mids thereof, As I liue, sayth the Lord God, they shall deliuer neither sonnes nor daughters, but they onely shall be deliuered themselues.

19 Und sendete ich Pest in jenes Land, und gösse blutig meinen Grimm darüber, um Mensch und Vieh daraus zu tilgen,

Or if I send a pestilence into this land, and powre out my wrath vpon it in blood, to destroy out of it man and beast,

20 und wären Noë, Daniel und Job darin, so wahr ich lebe", ein Spruch des Herrn, des Herrn, "sie würden weder Sohn noch Tochter retten; sie retteten durch ihre Tugend nur sich selbst."

And though Noah, Daniel and Iob were in the middes of it, As I liue, sayth the Lord God, they shall deliuer neither sonne nor daughter: they shall but deliuer their owne soules by their righteousnes.

21 Ja, also spricht der Herr, der Herr: "Um wieviel mehr nun sende ich jetzt meine vier Strafübel, Schwert und Hunger, wilde Tiere samt der Pest gegen Jerusalem, um Mensch und Vieh daraus zu tilgen.

For thus saith the Lord God, Howe much more when I sende my foure sore iudgements vpon Ierusalem, euen the sworde, and famine, and the noysome beast and pestilence, to destroy man and beast out of it?

22 Und doch bleibt drinnen übrig eine Schar Verschonter. Sie kann selbst Sohn und Tochter noch daraus wegführen. Fürwahr! Sie ziehen dann zu euch; da könnt ihr ihren Wandel, ihre Handlungsweise sehen. Ihr denkt dann anders über dieses Unglück, das für Jerusalem von mir gekommen, all das, was ich darüber brachte.

Yet beholde, therein shalbe left a remnant of them that shalbe caryed away both sonnes and daughters: behold, they shall come forth vnto you, and ye shall see their way, and their enterprises: and ye shall be comforted, concerning the euill that I haue brought vpon Ierusalem, euen concerning al that I haue brought vpon it.

23 Da lehren sie euch anders denken, beschaut ihr ihren Wandel und ihr Tun. Und ihr seht ein, daß ich nicht ohne Ursache geschehen ließ, was ich an ihm getan." Ein Spruch des Herrn, des Herrn.

And they shall comfort you, when yee see their way and their enterprises: and ye shall know, that I haue not done without cause all that I haue done in it, saith the Lord God.
