2 Mose 21
1 "Dies sind die Rechtssatzungen, die du ihnen vorlegen sollst:
Now these are the ordinances which thou shalt set before them.
2 Kaufst du dir einen hebräischen Knecht, so diene er dir sechs Jahre! Im siebten aber gehe er frei und ledig aus!
If thou buy a Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve; and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing.
3 Kam er mit seinem Bündel, so gehe er mit seinem Bündel; hatte er ein Weib, so gehe sein Weib mit ihm!
If he come in by himself, he shall go out by himself; if he be married, then his wife shall go out with him.
4 Gab ihm sein Herr ein Weib und gebar sie ihm Söhne oder Töchter, so bleibe das Weib mit seinen Kindern bei seinem Herrn. Er selber aber gehe mit seinem Bündel weg!
If his master give him a wife, and she bear him sons or daughters; the wife and her children shall be her master's, and he shall go out by himself.
5 Erklärt aber der Knecht: 'Ich liebe meinen Herrn, mein Weib und meine Kinder' und mag nicht frei weggehen,
But if the servant shall plainly say: I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free;
6 dann bringe ihn sein Herr vor die Gottheit und stelle ihn an die Tür oder den Türpfosten! Und dann steche ihm sein Herr mit seinem Pfriemen durch das Ohr: Und nun sei er für immer sein Knecht!
then his master shall bring him unto God, and shall bring him to the door, or unto the door-post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an awl; and he shall serve him for ever.
7 Verkauft jemand seine Tochter als Magd, dann darf sie nicht wie Knechte fortgehen.
And if a man sell his daughter to be a maid-servant, she shall not go out as the men-servants do.
8 Mißfällt sie ihrem Herrn, der sie sich bestimmt hatte, dann lasse er sie loskaufen! Sie fremdem Volk zu verkaufen, hat er keine Macht, wenn er sie gehen läßt.
If she please not her master, who hath espoused her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed; to sell her unto a foreign people he shall have no power, seeing he hath dealt deceitfully with her.
9 Bestimmt er sie aber seinem Sohne, dann tue er ihr nach der freien Mädchen Recht!
And if he espouse her unto his son, he shall deal with her after the manner of daughters.
10 Nimmt er sich noch eine andere, dann schmälere er ihr nicht Fleisch, Kost, Gewand und Umarmung!
If he take him another wife, her food, her raiment, and her conjugal rights, shall he not diminish.
11 Tut er ihr von diesen dreien keines, dann gehe sie ohne Entgelt, umsonst weg!
And if he do not these three unto her, then shall she go out for nothing, without money.
12 Wer einen anderen totschlägt, soll des Todes sterben!
He that smiteth a man, so that he dieth, shall surely be put to death.
13 Hat er aber nicht aufgelauert, sondern Gott hat es seiner Hand widerfahren lassen, dann bestimme ich dir eine Stätte, wohin er fliehen kann.
And if a man lie not in wait, but God cause it to come to hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he may flee.
14 Wenn aber jemand wider den Genossen brütet, ihn mit List zu töten, dann hole ihn von meinem Altar weg, daß er getötet werde!
And if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbour, to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from Mine altar, that he may die.
15 Wer seinen Vater oder seine Mutter schlägt, soll des Todes sterben!
And he that smiteth his father, or his mother, shall be surely put to death.
16 Wer einen Menschen raubt, er habe ihn verkauft oder er finde sich noch in seiner Hand, soll des Todes sterben!
And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.
17 Wer seinem Vater oder seiner Mutter flucht, soll des Todes sterben!
And he that curseth his father or his mother, shall surely be put to death.
18 Wenn Männer streiten und einer schlägt den anderen so mit einem Steine oder mit der Faust, daß er zwar nicht stirbt, aber aufs Lager fällt,
And if men contend, and one smite the other with a stone, or with his fist, and he die not, but keep his bed;
19 so bleibe der Schläger frei, wenn er wieder aufsteht und im Freien an seiner Krücke umhergeht! Nur sein Feiernmüssen ersetze er und lasse ihn ausheilen!
if he rise again, and walk abroad upon his staff, then shall he that smote him be quit; only he shall pay for the loss of his time, and shall cause him to be thoroughly healed.
20 Wenn jemand seinen Knecht oder seine Magd mit dem Stocke schlägt, und es stirbt eines unter seiner Hand, so werde es gesühnt!
And if a man smite his bondman, or his bondwoman, with a rod, and he die under his hand, he shall surely be punished.
21 Übersteht es aber noch einen oder zwei Tage, dann werde es nicht gesühnt; denn um sein eigen Geld geht es!
Notwithstanding if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished; for he is his money.
22 Wenn sich Männer raufen und stoßen ein schwangeres Weib, so daß es eine Fehlgeburt gibt, aber kein weiterer Schaden entsteht, so werde der Schuldige mit soviel bestraft, wie ihm der Gatte des Weibes auflegt! Er gebe es als Buße!
And if men strive together, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart, and yet no harm follow, he shall be surely fined, according as the woman's husband shall lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.
23 Entsteht jedoch ein Schaden, dann wende an: Leben um Leben,
But if any harm follow, then thou shalt give life for life,
24 Auge um Auge, Zahn um Zahn, Hand um Hand, Fuß um Fuß,
eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
25 Brandmal um Brandmal, Wunde um Wunde, Beule um Beule!
burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.
26 Schlägt jemand seinem Knecht oder seiner Magd ins Auge und zerstört es, so lasse er ihn für sein Auge frei!
And if a man smite the eye of his bondman, or the eye of his bondwoman, and destroy it, he shall let him go free for his eye's sake.
27 Schlägt er seinem Knecht oder seiner Magd einen Zahn aus, so lasse er ihn für seinen Zahn frei!
And if he smite out his bondman's tooth, or his bondwoman's tooth, he shall let him go free for his tooth's sake.
28 Und stößt ein Rind einen Mann oder ein Weib tot, so werde das Rind gesteinigt! Sein Fleisch werde nicht gegessen. Des Rindes Besitzer aber sei straffrei!
And if an ox gore a man or a woman, that they die, the ox shall be surely stoned, and its flesh shall not be eaten; but the owner of the ox shall be quit.
29 War aber das Rind lange zuvor stößig und war sein Besitzer schon verwarnt, er aber hütete es nicht und nun tötet es einen Mann oder ein Weib, so werde das Rind gesteinigt, und auch sein Besitzer soll des Todes sterben!
But if the ox was wont to gore in time past, and warning hath been given to its owner, and he hath not kept it in, but it hath killed a man or a woman; the ox shall be stoned, and its owner also shall be put to death.
30 Wird ihm aber ein Sühnegeld auferlegt, so zahle er für sein Leben soviel Lösung, wie man ihm auflegt!
If there be laid on him a ransom, then he shall give for the redemption of his life whatsoever is laid upon him.
31 Gleichviel, ob es einen Sohn oder eine Tochter stößt, werde ihm dann nach diesem Recht getan!
Whether it have gored a son, or have gored a daughter, according to this judgment shall it be done unto him.
32 Stößt aber das Rind einen Knecht oder eine Magd, dann zahle er ihrem Herrn dreißig Silberlinge! Das Rind aber werde gesteinigt
If the ox gore a bondman or a bondwoman, he shall give unto their master thirty shekels of silver, and the ox shall be stoned.
33 Läßt jemand einen Brunnen offen oder gräbt er einen Brunnen und überdeckt ihn nicht und fällt ein Rind oder Esel hinein,
And if a man shall open a pit, or if a man shall dig a pit and not cover it, and an ox or an ass fall therein,
34 dann zahle der Brunnenbesitzer! Den Geldwert erstatte er seinem Besitzer; das Tote aber sei sein!
the owner of the pit shall make it good; he shall give money unto the owner of them, and the dead beast shall be his.
35 Wenn jemandes Rind des anderen Rind totstößt, dann sollen sie das lebende Rind verkaufen und seinen Erlös teilen, und auch das tote sollen sie teilen!
And if one man's ox hurt another's, so that it dieth; then they shall sell the live ox, and divide the price of it; and the dead also they shall divide.
36 Ist es aber bekannt gewesen, daß dieses Rind schon lange stößig war und sein Eigentümer behütete es nicht, so ersetze er das Rind durch ein anderes! Das tote aber sei sein!
Or if it be known that the ox was wont to gore in time past, and its owner hath not kept it in; he shall surely pay ox for ox, and the dead beast shall be his own.
