Ester 8

1 An jenem Tage gab der König Ahasveros der Königin Esther das Haus des Haman, dieses Judenfeindes, zum Geschenk, und Mordekai erhielt zum König Zutritt. Denn Esther hatte mitgeteilt, wie dieser zu ihr stand.

2 Der König nahm dann seinen Siegelring, den er dem Haman hatte nehmen lassen, und gab ihn Mordekai. Und Esther setzte über Hamans Haus den Mordekai.

and to turn aside: remove [the] king [obj] ring his which to pass: bring from Haman and to give: give her to/for Mordecai and to set: appoint Esther [obj] Mordecai upon house: home Haman

3 Und Esther sprach vorm König abermals, fiel ihm zu Füßen, weinend und ihn um Gnade bittend, er möge das Unheil wenden, das von dem Agagiter Haman angerichtet, und seinen Anschlag, den er gegen alle Juden geschmiedet.

and to add: again Esther and to speak: speak to/for face: before [the] king and to fall: fall to/for face: before foot his and to weep and be gracious to/for him to/for to pass: bring [obj] distress: evil Haman [the] Agagite and [obj] plot his which to devise: design upon [the] Jew

4 Der König aber streckte gegen Esther abermals das goldene Zepter aus. Darauf erhob sich Esther und trat mit diesen Worten vor den König:

5 "Ist es dem König recht und fand ich vor ihm Gnade, erscheint es auch dem König angemessen und habe ich sein Wohlgefallen, so möge ein schriftlicher Befehl ergehen, auf daß die Schreiben jetzt zurückgenommen werden - der Anschlag Hamans, Hammedatas Sohns, des Agagiters -, die dieser schreiben ließ, um so die Juden zu vernichten, die in allen Landschaften des Königs sind.

6 Wie könnte ich es nur ertragen, das Unheil, das mein Volk betreffen soll, mitanzusehen? Wie könnte ich es nur ertragen, dem Untergange meines Stammes beizuwohnen?"

7 Da sprach der König Ahasveros zur Königin Esther und zum Juden Mordekai: "Ich habe Hamans Haus der Esther zum Geschenk gemacht. Ihn selber hat man an den Galgen gehängt dafür, daß er die Hände gegen diese Juden ausgestreckt.

8 Ihr mögt den Juden, wie's euch gut erscheint, im königlichen Namen tun und dies mit meinem königlichen Ring besiegeln. Ein Schreiben, in des Königs Namen abgefaßt und mit dem königlichen Ring besiegelt, kann nicht zurückgenommen werden."

9 So wurden nun die königlichen Schreiber zu jener Zeit im dritten Mond, das ist im Monat Siwan, am dreiundzwanzigsten, berufen. Dann ward geschrieben, wie es Mordekai betreffs der Juden anwies, und zwar an die Satrapen und an die Statthalter und Fürsten der 127 Länder von Indien bis Äthiopien, gemäß der Schriftart einer jeglichen Provinz, sowie der Sprache eines jeden Volkes, und so auch an die Juden, entsprechend ihrer Schrift und Sprache.

10 Er ließ es in des Königs Ahasveros Namen schreiben und siegelte es mit königlichem Ring. Dann sandte er die Schreiben durch berittene Eilboten, die auf Rennpferden aus Gestüten ritten.

and to write in/on/with name [the] king Ahasuerus and to seal in/on/with ring [the] king and to send: depart scroll: document in/on/with hand: by [the] to run: run in/on/with horse to ride [the] steed [the] steed son: young animal [the] mare

11 Danach gestattete der König allen Juden irgendeiner Stadt, sich zu versammeln und ihr Leben zu verteidigen. Wenn die bewaffneten Volkshaufen einer Nation und einer Gegend sie angriffen, so durften sie sie all mit Kindern und mit Weibern vernichten, töten, tilgen und ihre Habe als Beute nehmen

12 an einem Tag in allen Landen, die König Ahasveros eigen waren, am dreizehnten des zwölften Monds, das ist im Monat Adar.

13 Der Inhalt dieses Schreibens war, in jeder einzelnen Provinz soll ein Gesetz erlassen werden; die Juden sollen sich an jenem Tage rüsten, an ihren Feinden sich zu rächen.

14 Eilboten, auf den schnellsten Pferden reitend, zogen schleunigst aus, eilends nach dem Befehl des Königs, sobald zu Susan in der Burg ein solch Gesetz erlassen war.

15 Und Mordekai verließ den König im königlichen Kleide, purpurblau und weiß, mit großem goldenen Diadem und einem Mantel, der von Linnen und von Purpur war. Die Stadt von Susan jubelte und freute sich.

16 Den Juden ward jetzt Glück und Fröhlichkeit zuteil, Jubel und Ehre.

17 In jeglicher Provinz und Stadt, wo immer nur des Königs Wort und sein Gesetz hinkamen, da herrschte Fröhlichkeit und Jubel bei den Juden und Gasterei und Fröhlichkeit, und viele von des Landes Völkern gaben sich für Juden aus. Der Schrecken vor den Juden war auf sie gefallen.
