Apostelgeschichte 21
1 Als wir uns von ihnen losgerissen hatten, fuhren wir ab. In gerader Richtung kamen wir nach Kos; tags darauf nach Rhodos und von da nach Patara.
And when it came to pass that, being parted from them, we set sail, we came with a straight course to Coos, and the day following to Rhodes, and from thence to Patara.
2 Wir fanden ein Schiff, das nach Phönizien fuhr, bestiegen es und fuhren ab.
And when we had found a ship sailing over to Phenice, we went aboard, and set forth.
3 Wir bekamen Cypern in Sicht, ließen es links liegen, steuerten auf Syrien zu und gelangten nach Tyrus. Dort sollte das Schiff seine Fracht löschen.
And when we had discovered Cyprus, leaving it on the left hand, we sailed into Syria, and came to Tyre: for there the ship was to unlade her burden.
4 Wir suchten die Jünger auf und blieben daselbst sieben Tage. Auf Eingebung des Geistes rieten sie dem Paulus, er solle nicht nach Jerusalem hinaufgehen.
And finding disciples, we tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem.
5 Dennoch machten wir uns nach Ablauf dieser Tage auf den Weg, wobei uns alle mit Weib und Kind das Geleit gaben bis vor die Stadt hinaus. Am Strande knieten wir nieder und beteten.
And the days being expired, departing we went forward, they all bringing us on our way, with their wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and we prayed.
6 So nahmen wir Abschied voneinander. Wir bestiegen das Schiff, jene aber kehrten nach Hause zurück.
And when we had bid one another farewell, we took ship; and they returned home.
7 Wir legten den letzten Teil unserer Seefahrt zurück und kamen von Tyrus nach Ptolemais. Dort begrüßten wir die Brüder und blieben einen Tag bei ihnen.
But we having finished the voyage by sea, from Tyre came down to Ptolemais: and saluting the brethren, we abode one day with them.
8 Am folgenden Tage reisten wir nach Cäsarea weiter. Wir gingen in das Haus des Evangelisten Philippus, eines der Sieben, und blieben bei ihm.
And the next day departing, we came to Caesarea. And entering into the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, we abode with him.
9 Dieser hatte vier Töchter, Jungfrauen, die weissagten.
And he had four daughters, virgins, who did prophesy.
10 Als wir einige Tage dort waren, kam ein Prophet namens Agabus von Judäa herab.
And as we tarried there for some days, there came from Judea a certain prophet, named Agabus.
11 Dieser fand sich bei uns ein, nahm den Gürtel des Paulus, band sich damit Füße und Hände und sagte. "Also spricht der Heilige Geist: 'Den Mann, dem dieser Gürtel gehört, werden die Juden in Jerusalem auf solche Weise binden und den Heiden überliefern.'"
Who, when he was come to us, took Paul’s girdle: and binding his own feet and hands, he said: Thus saith the Holy Ghost: The man whose girdle this is, the Jews shall bind in this manner in Jerusalem, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.
12 Als wir das vernahmen, baten wir und die Einheimischen ihn inständig, er möge doch nicht nach Jerusalem hinaufgehen.
Which when we had heard, both we and they that were of that place, desired him that he would not go up to Jerusalem.
13 Paulus erwiderte: "Warum weint ihr und macht mir das Herz schwer? Ich bin bereit, mich nicht allein fesseln zu lassen, vielmehr auch in Jerusalem zu sterben für den Namen des Herrn Jesus."
Then Paul answered, and said: What do you mean weeping and afflicting my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but to die also in Jerusalem, for the name of the Lord Jesus.
14 Da er sich nicht überreden ließ, gaben wir nach und sprachen: "Der Wille des Herrn geschehe."
And when we could not persuade him, we ceased, saying: The will of the Lord be done.
15 Nach Ablauf dieser Tage machten wir uns reisefertig und zogen nach Jerusalem hinauf.
And after those days, being prepared, we went up to Jerusalem.
16 Auch einige Jünger aus Cäsarea gingen mit uns und brachten uns zu einem gewissen Mnason aus Cypern, einem Jünger aus der ersten Zeit, bei dem wir gastliche Aufnahme finden sollten.
And there went also with us some of the disciples from Caesarea, bringing with them one Mnason a Cyprian, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge.
17 Als wir in Jerusalem angelangt waren, nahmen uns die Brüder mit Freuden auf.
And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.
18 Am folgenden Tage ging Paulus mit uns zu Jakobus; alle Presbyter fanden sich ein.
And the day following, Paul went in with us unto James; and all the ancients were assembled.
19 Er begrüßte sie und erzählte im einzelnen, was Gott durch seinen Dienst unter den Heiden gewirkt hatte.
Whom when he had saluted, he related particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.
20 Als sie das vernommen hatten, priesen sie Gott. Dann aber sprachen sie zu ihm: "Du siehst, lieber Bruder, wie viele Tausende bei den Juden gläubig geworden sind, und doch sind alle noch eifrige Anhänger des Gesetzes.
But they hearing it, glorified God, and said to him: Thou seest, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews that have believed: and they are all zealous for the law.
21 Nun haben sie von dir gehört, du lehrest alle Juden in der Heidenwelt, von Moses abzufallen, und weisest sie an, ihre Kinder nicht zu beschneiden und überhaupt nicht nach den Gesetzesbräuchen zu leben.
Now they have heard of thee that thou teachest those Jews, who are among the Gentiles, to depart from Moses: saying, that they ought not to circumcise their children, nor walk according to the custom.
22 Was ist da nun zu machen? Sie werden jedenfalls in großer Zahl zusammenströmen. Sie werden ja erfahren, daß du angekommen bist.
What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.
23 So tu denn, was wir dir anraten. Bei uns sind jetzt vier Männer, die ein Gelübde auf sich haben.
Do therefore this that we say to thee. We have four men, who have a vow on them.
24 Nimm sie zu dir, laß dich mit ihnen weihen und zahle für sie, damit sie sich das Haupt scheren lassen können. Dann werden alle einsehen, daß nichts an den Gerüchten ist, die über dich verbreitet worden sind, daß du vielmehr getreulich das Gesetz beachtest.
Take these, and sanctify thyself with them: and bestow on them, that they may shave their heads: and all will know that the things which they have heard of thee, are false; but that thou thyself also walkest keeping the law.
25 Was aber die Gläubigen aus der Heidenwelt betrifft, so haben wir den schriftlichen Bescheid gegeben, sie sollen sich enthalten von Götzenopferfleisch, von Blut, Ersticktem und von Unzucht."
But as touching the Gentiles that believe, we have written, decreeing that they should only refrain themselves from that which has been offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangles, and from fornication.
26 Paulus nahm darauf die Männer zu sich, ließ sich am folgenden Tage mit ihnen weihen und ging in den Tempel. Dort meldete er den Ablauf der Weihezeit an, damit für jeden aus ihnen das Opfer dargebracht werde.
Then Paul took the men, and the next day being purified with them, entered into the temple, giving notice of the accomplishment of the days of purification, until an oblation should be offered for every one of them.
27 Als die sieben Tage zu Ende gingen, erblickten ihn Juden aus Asien im Tempel. Sie brachten das ganze Volk in Aufruhr, legten Hand an ihn und schrien:
But when the seven days were drawing to an end, those Jews that were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands upon him, crying out:
28 "Ihr Männer von Israel! Zu Hilfe! Das ist der Mensch, der überall und bei allen gegen das Gesetz und gegen diesen Ort lehrt, der sogar Heiden in den Tempel eingeführt und dadurch diese heilige Stätte entweiht hat."
Men of Israel, help: This is the man that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place; and moreover hath brought in Gentiles into the temple, and hath violated this holy place.
29 Sie hatten nämlich vorher den Trophimus aus Ephesus mit ihm zusammen in der Stadt gesehen und meinten nun, Paulus habe ihn auch mit in den Tempel genommen.
(For they had seen Trophimus the Ephesian in the city with him, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.)
30 Die ganze Stadt geriet in Aufruhr, und es entstand ein Volksauflauf. Sie ergriffen den Paulus und schleppten ihn aus dem Tempel, und sogleich wurden die Tore geschlossen.
And the whole city was in an uproar: and the people ran together. And taking Paul, they drew him out of the temple, and immediately the doors were shut.
31 Schon wollten sie ihn töten, da wurde dem Befehlshaber der Besatzung gemeldet, ganz Jerusalem sei in Aufruhr.
And as they went about to kill him, it was told the tribune of the band, That all Jerusalem was in confusion.
32 Dieser zog eiligst Soldaten und Hauptleute heran und eilte zu ihnen hinab. Als sie aber den Befehlshaber und die Soldaten sahen, hörten sie auf, den Paulus zu mißhandeln.
Who, forthwith taking with him soldiers and centurions, ran down to them. And when they saw the tribune and the soldiers they left off beating Paul.
33 Der Befehlshaber trat hinzu, ließ ihn ergreifen und mit zwei Ketten fesseln. Er fragte, wer er sei und was er verbrochen habe.
Then the tribune coming near, took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains: and demanded who he was, and what he had done.
34 Es rief aber in der Volksmenge alles durcheinander. Weil er vor lauter Lärm nichts Sicheres erfahren konnte, ließ er ihn auf die Burg bringen.
And some cried one thing, some another, among the multitude. And when he could not know the certainty for the tumult, he commanded him to be carried into the castle.
35 Als er an die Treppe kam, mußte er von den Soldaten getragen werden wegen des Ungestüms der Menge.
And when he was come to the stairs, it fell out that he was carried by the soldiers, because of the violence of the people.
36 Denn die Volksmenge drängte nach und schrie: "Nieder mit ihm!"
For the multitude of the people followed after, crying: Away with him.
37 Als Paulus eben in die Burg hinaufgeführt werden sollte, fragte Paulus den Befehlshaber: "Darf ich etwas zu dir sagen?" Jener entgegnete: "Du verstehst Griechisch?
And as Paul was about to be brought into the castle, he saith to the tribune: May speak something to thee? Who said: Canst thou speak Greek?
38 So bist du also nicht der Ägypter, der neulich die viertausend Meuchelmörder aufgewiegelt und in die Wüste hinausgeführt hat?"
Art not thou that Egyptian who before these days didst raise a tumult, and didst lead forth into the desert four thousand men that were murderers?
39 Paulus erwiderte: "Ich bin ein Jude aus Tarsus, ein Bürger dieser nicht unberühmten Stadt Ciliziens. Ich bitte dich also, gestatte mir, zum Volke zu reden."
But Paul said to him: I am a Jew of Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city. And I beseech thee, suffer me to speak to the people.
40 Er erlaubte es. Paulus trat auf die Stufen und winkte dem Volke mit der Hand. Da trat tiefe Stille ein, und er hielt auf hebräisch folgende Ansprache:
And when he had given him leave, Paul standing on the stairs, beckoned with his hand to the people. And a great silence being made, he spoke unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying:
