2 Chronik 23

1 Im siebten Jahre aber ermannte sich Jojada und verbündete sich mit den Obersten der Hundertschaften Azarjahu, Jerochams Sohn, Ismael, Jochanans Sohn, Azarjahu, Obeds Sohn, Maasejahu, Adajas Sohn, und Elisaphat, Zikris Sohn.

In the seventh year Jehoiada strengthened himself, and took the captains of hundreds, Azariah the son of Jeroham, and Ishmael the son of Jehohanan, and Azariah the son of Obed, and Maaseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zikri, into covenant with him.

2 Diese zogen in Juda umher und sammelten die Leviten aus allen Städten Judas und die Stammhäupter Israels. Dann kamen sie nach Jerusalem.

They went about in Judah, and gathered the Levites out of all the cities of Judah, and the heads of fathers' households of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.

3 Da schloß die ganze Gemeinde im Gotteshause einen Bund wegen des Königs. Er sprach zu ihnen: "Hier ist der Königssohn. Er soll König sein, wie der Herr den Söhnen Davids verheißen hat!

All the assembly made a covenant in the house of God with the king. And he showed them the king's son. And he said to them, "Look, the king's son shall reign, as the LORD has spoken concerning the descendants of David.

4 Ihr habt folgendes zu tun: Das Drittel, das von euch am Sabbat abzieht, Priester und Leviten, sei Torhüter an den Schwellen!

This is the thing that you shall do. A third part of you, who come in on the Sabbath, of the cohanim and of the Levites, shall be gatekeepers of the thresholds.

5 Das andere Drittel sei beim Königshause und das weitere Drittel am Tor des Ausgangs! Das ganze Volk aber sei in den Vorhöfen im Hause des Herrn!

A third part shall be at the king's house; and a third part at the gate of the foundation. All the people shall be in the courts of the LORD's house.

6 Niemand komme in das Haus des Herrn, als die Priester und die diensttuenden Leviten! Diese dürfen hineingehen; denn sie sind geweiht. Das ganze Volk aber halte die Vorschriften des Herrn!

But let no one come into the house of the LORD, except the cohanim, and those who minister of the Levites. They shall come in, for they are holy, but all the people shall follow the LORD's instructions.

7 Die Leviten sollen nun den König umgeben, jeder mit der Waffe in der Hand! Wer aber das Haus betritt, werde getötet! Jene sollen bei dem König bleiben, wenn er aus- und eingeht!"

The Levites shall surround the king, every man with his weapons in his hand. Whoever comes into the house, let him be slain. Be with the king when he comes in, and when he goes out."

8 Und die Leviten und ganz Juda taten so, wie der Priester Jojada befohlen. Sie nahmen jeder seine Leute, sowohl die, die am Sabbat abzogen, als auch die am Sabbat aufzogen. Denn der Priester Jojada hatte die Abteilungen nicht entlassen.

So the Levites and all Judah did according to all that Jehoiada the cohen commanded: and they took every man his men, those who were to come in on the Sabbath; with those who were to go out on the Sabbath; for Jehoiada the cohen did not dismiss the shift.

9 Der Priester Jojada gab nun den Obersten der Hundertschaften die Speere, Schilde und Tartschen des Königs David, die im Gotteshause lagen.

Jehoiada the cohen delivered to the captains of hundreds the spears, and bucklers, and shields, that had been king David's, which were in God's house.

10 Dann stellte er das ganze Volk auf, jeden mit seiner Schleuder in der Hand, von der Südseite des Hauses bis zur Nordseite, bis zum Altar und wieder bis zum Hause rings um den König.

He set all the people, every man with his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the house to the left side of the house, along by the altar and the house, around the king.

11 Dann führten sie den Königssohn vor, legten ihm das Diadem und die Spange an und machten ihn zum König. Und Jojada und seine Söhne salbten ihn und riefen: "Es lebe der König!"

Then he brought out the king's son, and put the crown on him, and gave him the testimony, and made him king: and Jehoiada and his sons anointed him; and they said, "Long live the king."

12 Ataljahu aber hörte das Geschrei des Volkes, das tanzend dem König entgegenjubelte. So kam sie zum Volk in das Haus des Herrn.

When Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people into the house of the LORD:

13 Da sah sie, wie der König an seiner Säule am Eingang stand, und beim König waren die Sänger und die Trompeter, und wie alles Volk des Landes fröhlich war und in die Trompeten stieß und wie die Sänger mit den Musikgeräten das Zeichen zum Jubilieren gaben. Da zerriß Ataljahu ihre Kleider und rief: "Verschwörung, Verschwörung!"

and she looked, and, look, the king stood by his pillar at the entrance, and the captains and the trumpets by the king; and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew trumpets; the singers also played musical instruments, and led the singing of praise. Then Athaliah tore her clothes, and said, "Treason. Treason."

14 Da gebot der Priester Jojada den Obersten der Hundertschaften, den Heeresbefehlshabern und sprach zu ihnen: "Führt sie durch die Reihen hinaus! Wer ihr folgt, werde mit dem Schwert getötet!" Denn der Priester hatte gesagt: "Tötet sie nicht im Hause des Herrn!"

Jehoiada the cohen brought out the captains of hundreds who were set over the army, and said to them, "Bring her out between the ranks; and whoever follows her, let him be slain with the sword." For the cohen said, "Do not kill her in the LORD's house."

15 Da legten sie Hand an sie. Und so kam sie zum Eingang des Roßtores am Königshause. Dort töteten sie sie.

So they made way for her. She went to the entrance of the Horse Gate to the king's house; and they killed her there.

16 Hierauf schloß Jojada einen Bund zwischen dem Herrn, dem ganzen Volk und dem König, daß sie ein Volk des Herrn sein wollten.

Jehoiada made a covenant between himself, and all the people, and the king, that they should be the LORD's people.

17 Dann kam das Volk zum Hause des Baal, riß es ein und zerstörte alle seine Altäre und Bilder. Den Baalspriester Mattan aber töteten sie vor den Altären.

All the people went to the house of Baal, and broke it down, and broke his altars and his images in pieces, and killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars.

18 Hierauf legte Jojada die Ämter für des Herrn Haus in die Hand der levitischen Priester, die David für das Haus des Herrn abgeteilt hatte, um dem Herrn Brandopfer darzubringen nach der Aufzeichnung in der Lehre des Moses, unter Jubelruf und Gesängen nach Davids Anordnung.

Jehoiada appointed the officers of the house of the LORD under the hand of the cohanim and the Levites, and he appointed the divisions of the cohanim and the Levites, whom David had assigned in the house of the LORD, to offer the burnt offerings of the LORD, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, according to the order of David.

19 Auch stellte er die Torhüter an die Tore im Hause des Herrn, daß nicht hineinkomme, wer irgendwie unrein sei.

He set the gatekeepers at the gates of the house of the LORD, that no one who was unclean in anything should enter in.

20 Dann nahm er die Obersten der Hundertschaften, die Vornehmen und die Beamten im Volke sowie das ganze Volk des Landes und führte den König aus dem Hause des Herrn hinab. Sie kamen durch das obere Tor in das Königshaus und setzten den König auf den königlichen Thron.

He took the captains of hundreds, and the nobles, and the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought down the king from the house of the LORD: and they came through the Upper Gate to the king's house, and set the king on the throne of the kingdom.

21 Alles Volk des Landes war fröhlich; die Stadt aber war ruhig geblieben, obschon sie Ataljahu mit dem Schwert getötet hatten.

So all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet. Athaliah they had slain with the sword.
